I don't know where the hate's coming from. These aren't intricate or fancy scratches but they're on time with the music. You'd be amazed how many DJs can't get that part right. Technique comes with practice but rhythm and timing are a gift you're born with.
@mikelcal keep doing what you're doing. My recommendation is to scratch with the inner part of the SCS.3D platter since it gives finer control than the outer jog zone.
..The scratch on this doesnt at all sound as good as scratch via a pioneer CDJ-400.. in my opinion.. AND the VU meters on this Stanton gear, reacts too slow ... how hard is it making VU meters that reacts correctly???!? I! can make a perfect reacting VU with a few tools, and solding.... not quiet what to espect of equipment at that price! BUT im going to buy the Stanton mixer in this video, i think the touch functions is very good. Even though, im not sattisfied with the VU..
i have one like this. i like to use it on small gigs. coz it just fits in my bag with out knobs and sliders to worry about. and when im in the club i also use this as trigger finger for serato. it can do a lotta stuff. rather than just a midi deck.
@alteredclone While you're at it.....I dont respect anyone with indoor plumbing, people with real guts pump their own water or take a crap in the backyard
@dtvutch A MIDI controller is used to control software on the computer, If your computer plays MP3 (which it does) and you have software compatible with MIDI, then yeah it plays them.
i would definitely be lying if i said you were good, but you're on your way, so keep practicing. i couldn't actually watch more than a minute of this because it kills me inside to watch someone scratching by tapping an invisible crossfader and a digital deck. it really kills me inside.
@WadeWestTv LOL I absolutely agree....its not like i'm trying to get paid for doing this though, Its more of a hobby than anything really, but i would definitely like to get a bit more fancy with my invisible fader...
@mikelcal haha, sorry if my comment came off as offensive, it was all truth though! how about this: sell everything ya got here for around $500 and buy yourself a midi controller like the VCI 100. it'll run ya about the same amount... and you'll actually feel like you're doing something!
@WadeWestTv naw dude not at all, i'm not the least bit offended. On the VCI 100, i wanted to get one since i saw @EanGolden introduced me to it, but then two Midi controlers diverged in the wood, so i took the one less dj'd with.. LOL The controller it self is not bad at all, i recognize i'm not super skilled, but that's the point of "practicing" right?
@WadeWestTv It kills you inside? Really? I've never used anything other than a real physical crossfader on a real mixer, but even I can appreciate what this does. Just because something isn't old school doesn't mean it sucks. It's not about the equipment, it's about what you can do with it to make the sound coming out of the speakers as bad-ass as possible. This set up has so many audio manipulation features that I'm considering using it as a complement to my real turntables and mixer...
@djbonezmccoy yeah, it does kill me inside. i didn't grow up in the 70's and 80's when the pioneers of this craft started using a fader, but that my first introduction to djing. when i see something like this it bothers me because it's clearly a way for major production and audio companies to earn a dollar off a simple gimic. never said this sucks or that it wasn't cool, but it bothers me to see a DJ use something that barely encompasses the components of a real 'traditional' system.
@WadeWestTv I feel you. i have the same reaction when i go to a club and see some dude with cdjs, so something like this would probably make me feel the same way-- i would never replace my turntables with this, but i've messed around with it and it has a lot of really amazing options and fx. my guess is that you've never actually used this, otherwise you'd know that it's not just some cheap gimmick. if someone buys this to replace real decks/fader, that's their own fault!
@djbonezmccoy moreover, you won't see this system replacing a real fader and 2 decks... so why do people buy it? because it 'looks cool' and they want a cheap intro into the djing world. this will not only give them the wrong introduction and impression of what a dj does, but for something this cheap, will turn them off of djing for life. frankly, in my opinion, if i saw someone using this live, I wouldn't give any props at all. just my 2c
@WadeWestTv if i'm being honest with you, i would hope that ppl who "want a cheap intro to the djing world" would buy this, and if it turns them off of djing for life, even better-- there are too many shit djs out there already anyway! I don't think that anyone would take someone seriously who uses nothing but this thing at a gig, but I could definitely see using them as my 3/4, assuming it's even possible to set them up that way. love your vids, btw-- we both like mixing 80's pop with hip-hop!
@djbonezmccoy You've got a point there on the other side of the spectrum, so I see what you're saying. I agree there are way too many "DJ's" out there, but they end up selling off their gear for dirt cheap prices anyway- which I can't complain about! Thanks for the nice comments, I'll check out some of your mixes. Ez
@djbonezmccoy If i saw a DJ mix like a pro, i wouldn't really care if he uses this or an ipod (club owner POV).
Now if I saw somebody mix in this device, manually beatmatching a creating great thing then i would like it, but i would never respect somebody djing in an ipod (like in a dj app). (DJ POV)
As a dj i would also respect more somebody using TT's than this, but wouldn't disrespect somebody using this correctly. Just my opinion anyway
@djbonezmccoy I have had a pair of 1210's for about 20 years, love them, but now with the digital kit it takes it to a whole new level, love the options for fx, loops etc. Dragging a box of vinyl to a gig is terrible, so freaking heavy and awkward, now I can turn up with a controller, soundcard and my macbook and rock the place. Seeing a top dj on decks is great but then you can watch Hawtin play a digital set and it blows you away too, its about what you play not the machine you use to play it.
This devise does not look Practical at all too complicated to use, I guess in a dark environment its even harder.

I don't respect anyone who uses a electric bass instead of a standup like a real musician
I don't respect anyone who plays a korg instead of a grand piano
I don't respect anyone who draws with a wacom instead of using real paint, they obviously aren't real artists
I don't respect anyone who drives a car and not a horse driven stagecoach
I don't respect anyone who buys butter instead of churning their own.
