  • Its about a soldier who didnt believe in what his country was doing to a poor, unarmed, and innocent country for oil and expansion of corporate agendas. He went AWOL an was locked up for doing what was right and not killing bc sum fat rich slob had his money in War bonds and weapons.

  • 0:50 - 1:46 epic

  • Saw these guys supporting Anti-Flag. Superb gig on account of both bands, especially State Radio! : )

  • This song inspired to read Sergeant Camilo Mejia's book, Road from Ar Ramadi: The Private Rebellion of Staff Sergeant MejÃa. It's AMAZING!!

  • i think everyone can relate to this song, a friend of mine in the service killed himself because serving our country wasnt worth the destrucion of innocent lives of families and children, its a fucking joke FUCK G W BUSH

  • if only this song was five minutes longer...

  • Big governments would kill their own people or put them in prison. We all need to put an end to this destruction.

  • Occupy. Just occupy. We've got that word back, now let's take the country back.

  • You conspiracy theorists are insane. Have you ever considered maybe the war is to stop injustice from occuring overseas? Thousands of soldiers get wounded or killed overseas and you're saying that what they're fighting for is just property? Have you ever considered the fact that they may WANT to go make a change and stop innocents living in the middle east from dying from warlords.

  • @NIC9896

    Damn you're uninformed.

  • @NIC9896 individually maybe soldiers do, but if you believe most politicians want to save innocent life you're naive.

  • @NIC9896 If that is what its all about then were were we for the genocide in Africa, or for doing more for HIV in Africa, or doing a single FUCKING thing for any of the SHIT that happens in Africa? We went to war with Iraq for oil. Not WMD. Not to save Innocent lives. No oil in Africa. GWB's father included in his book all the reasons why war against Iraq shouldn't be repeated. You were FOUR when this started, Shut the fuck up.

  • @TriumphT140 *where (I'm tired not an idiot, its almost 5am)

  • @NIC9896 So there is this place called Afghanistan. I think that the US has now officially left and it is a NATO or UN force there now. The US said they went there to do what you said, to stop injustice and spread around that democracy and such. Women who are raped there have two choices: marry the man who raped them or go to jail for adultery. I feel sorry for the soldiers who died for some politicians agenda, and respect all of them who want to effect positive change in the world.

  • hurd this song in class i didn't know its name so i wrote the lyrics on my hand

  • my country, won't you call out? think about it.

  • "...punish me for not taken youre orders but dont lock me up for not takin my own."

thats what i thought it said at first. still awesome

  • I've been reading through these comments and realized none of them are about this music being FUCKING AWESOME HIGH.

  • man screw all these rappers now a day... i mean dont get me wrong theres some good content like early lupe fiasco (not the new shit..opinion) but seriously all these rappers are so stupid again opinion.. not really music this is music...stories, the truth and a fucking pimping solo :D

  • 3:15, blood starts pumping

  • So, getting back on track here, the SONG that somehow brought out this whole gay argument? It's pretty good. Just Sayin'

  • another great song

  • why would anyone fight another human, with violence or personal insults? it's never worth it...

  • i dont understand how ppl can listen to state radio and still harbor so much rage and hate this music is very relaxing with a great message of peace and love

  • @streetballer6699 shut up faggot its just a word

  • Nobody likes my comments

  • @Skakid789 so....?

  • @Skakid789 Wow....I WONDER why....? xDD LOL try something a little less "Pity me" and a little more "Look at how funny I am!" xD ahaha

  • der beste song auf der welt

  • People, the song is about a guy named camilo who went to war and then came back from iraq alive, but didint show up for army training after that and was reported missing but he didint belive in the war.

  • Why is everyone arguing? Can't we just enjoy a great song? We all have our own opinions and there is a time where we should share them, but in the comments of a song? Really? Just think before you comment.

  • comments are fucking comments, and ill talk about what ever i want on them

  • Whether I agree with the song or not, this is still my favorite state radio song. And I am a US soldier.

  • @Chrisstiv It deals with a struggle you understand. Sometimes you know something is not right, yet must be done. If only to do your duty and protect your brothers

  • the war in the middle east is evil. the usa israel nato are fighting a war against anyone resisting the new regime. its all based on who controls a nations money because money = power and the only countries without a central (rothschild) controlled bank were iraq iran north korea afghanistan cuba libya. now it is just down to cuba, korea and iran. it is not a coincidence these are the countries brutalized in the media because we are being convinced to wage an unvalidated war

  • I feel terrible for the many american soldiers who join the military as a way to come up and make a life for themselves completely unaware of the imperialistic genocide they are forced to take part in. that is what this song is about camilo who saw the truth and said trusted his conscience over blind order taking.

  • Because Stade Radio's music is(thank god!) very often politcal!

    That's why!

  • Its about conscientious objection yes. But the message still echoes through to the entire matter. Saying don't debate politics on a political song is stupid.

Though whats funny is when I heard Trump the possible GOP favorite say "I'd take their oil" all that did was reaffirm that we probably did go to Iraq for the oil. Which made me think of this song and the few soldiers who objected.

My personal opinion take or leave it don't care. Feels like a blood for oil scenario.

  • Best song ever, Only thing it needs is lyrics.

  • this is a powerful and brilliant tune

  • we can talk about war and politics if we want to , free speech 2 all ma n1gg4444zzz!

  • Pure TUNE !!!

  • Camilo can suck it.

  • @sosy1325

  • @sosy1325 It pisses me off how people look up a song JUST to dislike it or disc it. Not to mention there is only SEVEN dislikes. And FOUR-HUNDRED likes.

  • Love to ALL who use the right to voice an opinion! I'm a newbe as of 3 days ago. I stumbled on this song and haven't listened to another band since!

Whole package! It's been a while since a band stirred me like they have!

It looks to me that they are really walkin' the walk not just talkin' the talk! Impressive and humbling. You've got my attention for sure State Radio!

  • @greenroomdeb you should check out a band named Dispatch if you haven't already. same singer and they're even better ;>

  • @Xenobiarch Thanks! I will right now! I'll let you know when I give them a listen. Thanks again.

  • @Xenobiarch WHOA!!!! NICE! Chills from head to toe! Thank you so much for suggesting Dispatch! You were right on!

  • @greenroomdeb glad I could help. : )

  • @Xenobiarch I like Dispatch too...but better?? I think they both kick royal ass about equally..but that's just me

  • my names camilo..thick sauce

  • Am i the only person who's listening to this because our names are camilo? LOL

  • this is their best song. ever.

  • From 3:08 to 3:52 is my favorite part of any song

  • this is a really really great song

  • My name is Camilo :)

  • @eomaster my name is also Camilo

  • worst part is 4:50

  • How the hell did an argument about gays start on this song? Jeezum...

  • 1:08

  • Heard this song at my summer camp... loved the song and could not find it until now

    I love this song

  • @asulkan On behalf of all lesbians, FUCK YOU creep. Racists, sexists, and homophobes are all the same, you use your bigotry to cover up your personal insecurities. And you all go down in history as miserable ignorant simpletons. Enjoy that you daft troglodyte.

  • @1oErdoben @1oErdoben holy jesus H christ, simmer down no? Put away your thesaurus you menstruating raging fat woman. what human being isnt insecure? your insecure enough to be frustrated at me for not agreeing with gay culture. And im definitely not a simpleton as you think. Im 23 years old, own my own business and live in a house on the shore of a river. you think that makes me a cave man?? Get a life you fat bitch.

  • @asulkan Tell that to my friend who was just gay bashed & hospitalised. These are REAL PEOPLE. I don't care if you don't agree, I'm pissed you're spewing hate. Plenty of straight men are secure enough to not to mind.

Not that you're worth arguing with you're obviously a raging sexist. I'm not menstrual, I'm actually 104 pounds, and I know big words because I read. Being young and rich doesn't make you smart or evolved. You're an unfeeling bully perpetuating violent homophobia & sexism.

  • @asulkan Also just to be on your side for a minute: I'd relax a little about the topic of gay guys. More and more people these days recognise that the squeaky wheel wants to get greased nudge nudge!! HAHAHA [I think thou dost protest too much] OH & don't be such a Malfoy!

  • @1oErdoben you definitely are gay (not that there is anything wrong with that) seeing as you made a harry potter reference. Not worth arguing with? your response says otherwise.. i really want to stop talking to you now. ive been responding to moron after moron for the last week on this page that is host to a very good song. WHYY? Im leaving now. Goodbye

    ps

my regards to fellow that was gay bashed. Hope this REAL PERSON you speak of (never knew REAL PEOPLE existed) recovers from the bashing

  • @asulkan hey dick.. whats up? my best friend is a lesbian.. you are the exact example of the ignorance that State Radio writes about.. you belong in uganda.. wearing a rainbow t-shirt, with a sign on it saying "I'm Gay".. then maybe the genocide that you experience there may change your ignorant mind a little bit.. if only just a little

  • my name is camilo :S lol

  • Does anyone else hear the crazy awesome resemblance to Rage's "Freedom" riff at the end of this song? It kicks in at around 3:53. I first heard the EP version of Camilo on Barn Sessions and it uses the riff much more prominently. Beautiful track whether or not the association was intentional, but for me it just makes it that much deeper.

I hope I don't sound stupid by bringing it up. :P

  • The meaning of this song is soooooooooooo touching, I'm too lazy to explain on here what their about, but the hardships learned and shed in Vietnam will never be forgotten. POW MIA RIP veterans of our past.

  • @r2pre2 Wow, this comment is flagged as spam...it's unfortunate that people can't handle the truth. We helped the bastard that we ended up killing, it's a part of history

  • Comment removed

  • anyone else notice the similarity to the song Ohio by Neil Young?

  • for 4 people blood money is just money...

  • YEA- go dispatch/state radio- your amazing

  • best song of State Radio !!!

could listen to it the whole day...

  • Guys REALLY.

Why the F*** do you always have to discuss about war, iraq and the government on EVERY damn Video!? It's always the same and it pisses people off! Can't you just enjoy this song and keep your thoughts to yourselfs? And when it's not war it's justin bieber about ppl like you are talking!

  • @Ragnara15 listen to the text und read what this song is based on. Maybe this will open your mind.

  • @Ragnara15 You're gay

  • @streetballer6699

Is there something wrong with being gay? Why is that even a reasonable insult?

    Grow up, child, grow up.

  • @coryskawaffle ur gay

  • @00itsabouttime00 arguing on the internet is like the special olympics, even if you win, your still retarded

  • @coryskawaffle last time i checked being gay means taking it in the ass from another guy.. I believe there IS something wrong with that..

    But lesbians are fantastic

  • @asulkan 5.

    homosexual.

    6.

of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization.

Which means male or female, retard.

  • @PhunkyPhishPhan Im guessing your retarded ass didnt (or couldnt) read the rest of what i said...But seeing as your not very smart ill explain ok.. underneath the main bulk of what i said is another comment and it states that lesbians are fantastic.. NOW, to explain that further you complete moron, the word LESBIAN also means GAY and in case you didnt know, lesbian refers to WOMEN. Take your little definition, print it on a piece of paper, roll it up and put it in your ass you faggot

  • @asulkan aslulkan knows what hes talkin bout, if ur gay, u take it in the ass and thats not how nature intended it, which means they are fuck ups walking on the earth. sums it up pretty good ehhh

  • @colacakes4me Nature didn't intend people to make poorly constructed arguments on you tube but we do it anyway. But it's also interesting how you say nature didn't intend it, but you don't understand the fact that people are born gay, an innate characteristic. Take into account the prefix "nat" coming from the earth also found in the word nature. Being gay isn't about being fucked up your butt, but having an attraction to the same gender.Say not you're against gay people, say you oppose anal sex

  • @asulkan Whats the difference between being a gay man and being a gay women, besides the gender?

  • @kasmember17 dont get me wrong. im not against gays, in fact i have gay friends. but being a straight male you tend to be horrified by the thought of guys doin the beast with two backs. that being said, im all for lesbians! Not only are they women, but they are women getting eachother off. Its a FACT that lesbians are more commonly excepted among society then two gale males. if you deny then you are denying for the sake of an argument.

  • @coryskawaffle It's a colloquial way to say "stupid" and you're a pompous douche bag.

    Relax, faggot, relax.

  • @coryskawaffle gays an insult because its a shot at someones manliness

  • @alelogger so just because a guys not big and strong, not very handsome and has some feminine manerisms, that means their gay and they should be referred to as faggot. People are damn cruel, why can't we just be friendly, I know plenty but somehow the majority are still harsh, mean idiots

  • @coryskawaffle fucking right man just cus u might not agree with something dont mean its wrong, that kid should stfu cus he doesnt no wat hes talking about, ur gay its not ur choice its like being left or right handed so just f off haters

  • @coryskawaffle that's such a gay thing to say

  • @Ragnara15

    You are soooo damn right!!

  • fuck you @Ragnara15

  • @Ragnara15 well this song is about war, iraq, and the government so talking about it here would be pretty appropriate

  • @Ragnara15 the song is about war, iraq, and the government....

  • @Ragnara15 because this song is about the war... some people like talking about things that relate to the video they just watched.

  • @Ragnara15 this song is about the war in Iraq. Read into your comments man, before YOU look like the shallow fucker. These guys wrote this song to stimulate discussion and thought.

  • @Ragnara15 hahaha, im guilty of it, but i agree.

  • @Ragnara15 have you listened to the lyrics? maybe because this song is about war, maybe? I thought that songs were meant to spark emotions, discussion and thoughts. and a anti-war song is bound to spark some anger as well. war is a harsh thing.

  • @Ragnara15 well this song IS about the war...

  • @Ragnara15

the song is about a soldier who refused to fight in the wars any more after his first deployment. song is a true story. comments about conscientious objection in the military would be more appropriate. the military cant support soldiers that do not want to fight, and they cannot make it easy for soldiers to weasel out of their obligation. i respect the conscientious objectors, in this military, it is a lot more difficult to CHOOSE not to fight, than it is to just do what we're told

  • @Ragnara15 Why do you care if people have intellectual discussions that relate to their favorite songs? The reason for commenting is for voicing your thoughts, not the opposite. Stfu.

  • @Ragnara15 The lyrics to State Radio songs are laden with references to politics for a reason. This is political music. It is meant to make us think and discuss. If you just want to listen to it as music, that's fine, don't read the comments. My guess is that Chad and co are *trying* to start these sorts of discussions.

  • @Ragnara15 This song is about war, idiot. You don't have to read anyone else's comments. So how about YOU keep your self absorbed bitching to yourself?

  • @nebulawas haha nice.

  • @Ragnara15 these songs are suppodes to spark debates. The rethinking of people idea's

on things such as war, iraq, homosexuality, god, and the government. These are just things that are always on peoples minds. That's why Chadwick and SR made the lyrics what they are, to spark interest and debate.

  • @Ragnara15

This song is kind of about war, iraq and the goverment in their defense.

  • @Ragnara15 if you don't want to know people's thoughts, you probably shouldn't read the comments section...

  • @Ragnara15 Actually, the right to say whatever people like is kind of built into the constitution. State Radio is a very politically charged band, so it makes perfect sense for people to talk politics.

But no, you're right. Posting comments in the comments section is ludicrous.

  • @Ragnara15 no im not gonna hold my tongue... your downplaying the significance of things going on in the world right now... in other words your ignorant

  • I think i'd die from orgazims if I saw them play live

  • @martinxlive5 their live show is incredible. this was my favorite song of the show. i saw them june 18 in boston with john butler trio. amazing shows from both bands.

  • SOO underrated, this band is simply put, amazing.

  • Sounds so Irish idk why..

  • Best song evah!

  • i saw them live *.* it was so cool :) they make so good music:)

  • @aSiuLxx chiemseerocks <333

  • @aSiuLxx  --> same =)

  • wondaaaful<3

  • What beasts. Go Boston!

  • And it also reminds me a lot of Ohio by Crosby, Still, Nash and Young, or just Neil Young, especially the chorus :

Twenty days in a concrete fallout

What life have I to take your own

    Ohio:

    Twin soldiers and Nixon coming

    We're finally on our own

I don't know about meaning but it sounds very similar.

  • @anitoismyname you sound like a fucking music snob. State Radio is an amazing band. Take their stuff at face value.

  • @anitoismyname

they are both about war, that's about it.

  • @anitoismyname

    or soldiers rather

  • If you know the meaning behind this, then you'll agree with me when I say this totally reminds me of "The General" by Dispatch, but non-fiction.

And yes I know members of Dispatch are in this band, just so you don't bicker and correct me.

  • Your words just a bloody fallacy

A house of cards you painted white

    You tried to recreate normandy

But you made up the reason to fight

And now red oil is spillin' down on the street

And your eyes too big for the belly is weak

Will you not refuse this currency

Or is blood money just money to you

Is blood money just money to you

  • great

  • amazing amazing song. i missed their concert so i could see flogging molly the same night. ill definitely go see them next time they come

  • Comment removed

  • although i do support the war and the troops i think this is a great song by a great band

  • @rshea1313 why? supporting the war is just beyond my understanding when every reason to go was a lie. There was no link with 9/11, no WMD's, no reason to attack Saddam as opposed to any other evil dictator (like our allies in in indonesia and saudi arabia) when we did, considering we were selling him weapons during most of his atrocities and no plan as to what do after the invasion. Its turned into a disaster and the blood is on mine and your hands for not stopping it. Peace.

  • @TokyoTrainStyle I support the war and troops because the troops are Americans out there fighting for us, but people like you still like to criticize them and their cause.

  • @rshea1313 did you ask them to go fight for you? did they get a choice? i respect someone who will risk their life for others, but that doesn't mean i think its right to kill for someone (not yours or mine) else's profit. They don't fight for you, they fight for the politicians who sent them to die, and for the oil that fills their pocket with profit.

  • @TokyoTrainStyle I don't know why you're debating my opinion about the war, because there was simply no reason for you to try to "enlighten" me about the war.

I actually find it extremely funny when ignorant people like yourself say that "(The troops) don't fight for you, they fight for the politicians who sent them to die, and for the oil that fills their pocket with profit." for you to try to say that our government does not care about the welfare of its people and for our national security

  • @TokyoTrainStyle is completely outrageous. People like you try to make out politicians to be horrible people who care solely about profit and not for their people. As long as a nation is a threat to national security than it is my belief that it is the duty of the government to put an end to any threat that said nation may pose. The troops were not sent to Iraq to die, they were sent there to defend US citizens and to liberate the people of a nation which was controled by an opressive

  • @TokyoTrainStyle and ruthless dictator.

  • @rshea1313

    Please..........

"As long as a nation is a threat to national security than it is my belief that it is the duty of the government to put an end to any threat that said nation may pose"

    Who decides that.

Following your logic the USA poses the greatest threat for the whole rest of the world. What should be done for that.?

It's blood for oil(interests), plain and simple

  • @drizztf88 have you ever read the Ultimates 2?

  • @rshea1313 cause?hahaha did you read what you typed?

  • punish me for not taking your orders but dont lock me up for not leaving my home... this is exactly what i feel for thwe marine corps.

  • Your words just a bloody fallacy

A house of cards you painted white

    You tried to recreate normandy

But you made up the reason to fight

And now red oil is spillin' down on the street

  • The best part of the the song is from 0:00 - 4:49

  • @Ustoked2surf oh jeez...never heard that one before

  • @Ustoked2surf

    FUNNY!..... not!

But I agree it's an awesome song.

  • shut the fuck up...im saying we dont fuckin need to be trying to kill ANYONE and you cant fucking call me a fatass when your bitchass is sittin here ya little bitch so tha next time you wanna comment on something make it nice.. EVERYBODY!

  • @flubberball2 that was a nice comment tehe

  • @hypecity69 hahaha i know but its true is it not?

  • @flubberball2 who thinks this kid needs to get off the buttplug if you know what im saying

  • @idontreallyknowful bitch dont talk

  • @flubberball2 great comeback shithead

  • i just saw them live last night, it was such an incredible show! THEY ARE AMAZING and this song blew everyone's mind

  • A homage to a TRUE hero...

    Camilo...

    You inspire us all...

  • OMG i'm so happy i just found this, i was thinking hm... sounds like dispatch. Then i was like WAIT A SECOND that is the guy from dispatch!!!!! Amazing, im so gutted dispatch is gone but damn this is good too! Gonna go buy all the albums now.

  • are you guys fucking serious? they arent hippies just because theyre friend doesnt want to go back to iraq to fucking have a chance of dying so he can kill MAYBE some "bad guys" but probably killing innocent ones instead?! fuck you
