  • just hit the bloody thing and let the cymbal do the talking.

  • why does this guy remind me of bill murray?

  • Your right, that cymbal does sound nasty. Not in a good way.

  • Then write this into youtube search:

Chad Smith and Michael Anthony with the Sabian Holy China

If somebody can use it right, it sounds awesome.

  • Buy it, play it for 3 years & only being able to hear it the first time?

    Alright =D

  • He said "60-some holes". Morons.

  • 1:02 rip headphones :(

  • very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok, I have to ask....When is this type of thing used?

Is there a song on YouTube i can search that makes use of this type?

  • @AlanMolstad listen to "the pot" by tool, and around 4 minutes and 30 seconds youll hear it. its amazing.

  • @AlanMolstad You just have to be creative, it can me used in a similar way to a crash. Metalcore bands generally over-use it ridiculously in their 'breakdowns'. But for an example, the Blink 182 song 'Always', just after 1.10 minutes you can hear 3 hits on the China, he repeats it 4 times

  • My sleeping cat ran away with this sound...

  • Nasty angry sound: 1m01s

  • Wasn't Chad Smith endorsed by Zildjian? Did that change or he partnered up with Sabian anyway? Whatever it is, he made a great cymbal!

  • about 67 1/2 inch holes... OR! if we do some basic 4th grade math we can take 4 and multiply it by 17 and see that we actually have 68 holes... and not even ABOUT 68.... exACTLY 68 1/2 inch holes....

  • RIP headphone users 1:01

  • @TheWezel1995 It happened just as I read your comment.

  • @TheWezel1995 Thanks for the warning xD

  • @TheWezel1995 First time a youtube comment was actually useful for me. Thanks!

  • @TheWezel1995 Thanks for the warning!

  • that seals the deal for me, Sabian is the Best cymbal makers out there in my opinion, That one is gonna make such a nice additions to my kit

  • and...you can also steam your vegetables on it

  • i have this cymbal. pretty kick ass. can also be played flipped over.

  • "Makes it quick attack, quick decay." He then strikes and mutes it. Oooooohhhh. That is really quick decay! Douchebag.

  • @aswartz16 it does actually have really quick decay. its a lot like when you walk into a shop or something and you get that blast of air that keeps the bugs out that ends when the door shuts behind you.

  • I've been to China and they have many holes...

  • ha lol ha mejjxbn sajn

  • haha i met bob! :) hes such a cool guy! and just a recommendation to anybody who buys this...wear ear plugs.

  • sounds horrible =O

  • In my opinion, best china ever made.

  • okay oka its 68 holes with another in the middle! but thats not the point listen to that beauty!!!

  • @roryando that would make 69, not 67

  • @ReconNoob12 ehhhhhhhhh i dont care!!

  • 1:01 RIP headphone users

  • but i expect everybody will pretend to love it cos its a chad smith endorsed dustbin lid lol

  • why doesnt he just stfu and play the bloody thing for longer.......oh ive just heard it ouch now i know why lol awful like a dustbin lid haha

  • nicee

  • Why not just buy a Wuhan?

  • This Cymbal has 69 holes and everybody loves 69. Right?

  • oh my god, no one here can do math, there are 17 rows of holes, 4 in each hole,

    17x4=68

  • @Manrok44 THE ONE MISSED U CAN FOUND IT WATCHING YOUR LOW BACK WITH A MIRROR! IS YOUR ASS HOLE!

  • you fixed it wrong lol XD

  • oh shit i need this

  • It's a Holey China....

  • It's called a colander dude

  • this china is so fucking awesome !!!! i just bought mine an its badass

  • 'This one has about 67 half inch holes...'

They're in groups of four... what is this witchcraft :|

  • @Zeus1700 Dude...cymbal-smiths are crazy people that know too much about hammering and shaping bronze. It's so over my head; I would wanna see ALL of the prototypes they went through to make the final cymbal. I am sure there are LOTS of them.

  • @MusicStoreChannel I think he is refering to the fact that having 67 holes in even stacks of 4 is a mathematical impossibilty. It must be 68 holes for it to be correct. Otherwise it would be 16 groups of 4 and 1 group of 3 holes. So yea its not witchcraft but the person describing the amount of holes must be saying wrong xD

  • @pepparmostheelder if it's in groups of 4, the total number of holes has to be an odd number...there's a hole in the center you have to count too.

  • @zombie13studio Well yea if you count the hole in the center then you are correct. However you are still wrong on this specific point since I was commenting back to the fact that the person had claimed there was 67 holes in total, in groups of 4. Now, you cant get 66 holes (+ the one in the center) while having even groups of 4. You can however get 68 holes (+ center one which would lead to 69) by having 17x rows of 4 holes on each. So the person must have ment 68 (69 depening on how you see it)

  • @MusicStoreChannel I count 68 holes

  • @MusicStoreChannel i think @Zeus1700 is talking about the fact 67 isn't divisible by four...

  • @Zeus1700 Well there's one in the middle...

  • @Zeus1700 Hm you're right that still makes no sense (67-1)/4 = 16.5

  • @Zeus1700 He said "This one's got about 60, uh, SOMETHIN' half inch holes..."

    XD Not 67, 60 somethin'. :P

  • @Zeus1700 aaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! you really are a god, sir!

  • @Zeus1700 He did say "about," lol! It actually has 69 holes total, haha.

  • @WaffletheIdeot All cymbals already have at least 1 hole ;)

  • @LukeSnyderMusic yeah its 68 haha

  • @roryando I think you forgot one of the holes ;)

  • @Zeus1700 I think he says "60 some holes"

  • @Zeus1700Heh! But he said "sixty some" not "sixty seven", which would still be in range mathematically.

  • @Zeus1700 There are 68 half inch holes... although I see the sarcasm.

  • @Zeus1700 He said sixty some, not sixty seven

  • @Zeus1700 He said "...sixty some holes..." Not 67.

  • @Zeus1700

    he says sixty-something

  • @Zeus1700 he said 60-something, not 67

  • @Zeus1700 "Sixty sum'n" not sixty-seven

  • @YouAreNumberSeven i hear that!

  • @Zeus1700 68!!!!!! I did the math :I heeeeeeh *applause*

  • @Zeus1700 There's 17 rows. 17 * 4 = 68. He was so close :|

  • @Zeus1700 centre hole :P

  • @Zeus1700 i figured it out... there's an arithmetic error made by the host of this video... there are 17 strips of 4 holes each... 17 x 4 = 68... hum, strange... BUT... here's where it gets crazy... there's an additional hole which every cymbal has, the one that fixates it to the stand... but the genious here seems to have subtracted that hole, thus making it 67, instead of the 69 that really exist... that's my theory anyway

  • @Zeus1700 lol he said 60 something i think... lol

  • needs more raw bell

  • @freakyseahorse In some instances I would agree...but with the pitch of this cymbal...any more raw bell and it would lose the darkness of the china and become more abrasive. But, could be cool...just don't know for sure.

  • @MusicStoreChannel well that was a joke, but...ok

  • when you play the cymbal the way its supposed to be played i might order one, i was thinking about a 22 inch and 19 inch if they had some i heard a friend of mine live and they work alot like a fast crash only of course theyre a china, my set is a 7 piece tama hyperdrive with sabian aaxplosion 15 16 18 and 19 " crashes, aax 8 and 10 splashes, 10 inch zil bell, 20 inch aax ride, aax 18 inch china , zildjian k mastersound hats and a vault 20 inch paragon china, think 2 of these would do me good?

  • @MyTamas1 If you are replacing a couple of chinas you are already using, they would be nice replacements. But in looking at your cymbal set up, you have some great china's already. If you are adding to you cymbal set up for versatility, these cymbals would be great additions to your varied set up. They are loud and explosive...nice for many rock applications. Lemme know if we can help in any way. Roger

  • @MusicStoreChannel Yea, i play around soo much i dont just use sabians but they are my favorite, for stage i love paiste signature but for studio and practice aax studio cymbals are so amazing, I deffinatly dont want these for studio they seem too explosive again why aaxplosions are my stage cymbals, but im also thinking of just a full 9 piece hh set including 2 of these chinas and a k-china (zildjian)

  • @MyTamas1 WOW!!! Oh yeah... you have some fantastic cymbals for sure. Depending upon the "voice" you wanna choose, you will either have a super loud china or a ridiculously loud china. Either way, you can't go wrong.

  • @MusicStoreChannel Ya i got to apologize to my favorite cymbal co. sabian but paiste signatures in studio sound better than most if not any recorded eq'ed cymbal may i dare say even k-custom. but on stage they dont cut, I played a death metal show newyears eve-day, and i had some apx sabians, really cut through , the cast b8 bronze was a smart move , and for everybody to know, SBR Sabians ... even beginners,,, no, never, The worst cymbals ever .

  • @MyTamas1 the bell is meant to go on the top, with the flange turning upwards. most drummers, including myself, would mount the cymbal upside down or rather inverted - with the flange turning downwards and the bell underneath, out of sight.there isn't a ''way its[sic] supposed to be played'' but if there is, it's how this guy has it set up.

  • Just ordered mine! sooooo pumped

  • @AppGuy02 Congrats on ordering your Holy China! Hope you like it and play the (insert expletive here) out of it. Thanks for sharing your excitement. Roger

  • @ReBeLhIpI Did you purchase your cymbal from The Music Store? If so it was most likely drop shipped from Sabian Directly. If that is the case, Sabian will of course warranty the cymbal. I will be happy to check our records of your purchase on Monday when we open back up. Please email me your purchase information and date, I will happily research the situation for you.

  • good

  • i feel like if you look at it the wrong way itll break...

  • @shinfo002 It's a very stout cymbal with plenty of material to prevent cracking. Additionally, it was designed to withstand Chad Smith's playing style. It should hold up just fine.

  • I NEED this china!

  • @KHfan4ever23 YOU do NEED this china. Let us know...we'll get one right out to you.

  • What china would you recomend if I want a very dark and a very powerfull sound.

  • @Destrolyer That's a delicate question. When looking at "dark" cymbals they will lose a little power due to their weight and "profile" of the cymbal. When looking at more powerful china's, there is more material and a more aggressive profile. Opposite ends of the spectrum. From Sabian, check out HH or HHX Chinas; from Meinl, check out the Byzance Traditional, Dark and Extra Dry families; from Zildjian, check out the Oriental Trash chinas. Email Roger w/more questions via our main website.

  • Ahahahaha this was so loud that immediately after he hits it the first time, the remix the volume of the audio, coz of high volume!! Crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @ShadowDatsas Yeah...it absolutely wrecked the "auto" setting on our Q3. Was comedic.

  • one of the best chinas so far. no doubt!

  • @foxgentlemaenner It is a pretty amazing sounding china. Reminds me of the AAX Devastation Chinese in 19".

  • @RJiminez51 - Thanks for your comment, but vulgarity is NOT necessary.

  • @LoadingSet7 - it's even more impressive live. WOW!!!

@ KyleTehab - more and more Sabian players are including this china into their setup. It came out very nice.

Thanks to everyone for your comments - we really appreciate them.

  • wow that actually sounds real nice!

  • i shit myself at 1:02

  • @LoadingSet7 Hope you had some baby wipes handy!

  • 1:02 finally hit the cymbal!

  • Just bought mine yesterday. It's so freaking loud !! But it sounds holy =D

  • @raokin466 Congrats!!!! Post a video of you playing it to our channel and our Facebook page. Thanks have have a great day!!!

  • @raokin466 fuck...I watched so many videos with comments consisting of "jesus" - so that I just read your "Just" as "Jesus"

Made your whole comment a bit more "mental and holy"

  • @DJRomeoV Hahahahaha

  • KABANG! \m/^.^

  • I tried this cymbal, it's 2x louder than Z3 china

  • @keanxd96 It is a truly loud cymbal by any definition. We've actually had people wanna swap out and get away from their Z3 China's to move into this cymbal. It's a monster for sure. Thanks for your comment and hope to see you soon.

  • @DillingerEscapeMan - Thanks for your question. However, our personal grooming habits are NOT your concern. Have a great week.

  • @mrmcevilweevil - It definitely upset the Zoom Q3 Recorder upon initial strike. We learned that when working with instruments to set the mic at full and adjust volume in post-production. Much easier to work with. Thanks for your comment and have a killer week. Roger - Drum Product Specialist.

  • lol totally raped the mic at the first hit

  • @drummerjmp - I totally agree!! This thing is almost obnoxiously loud. When I played Sabian - I used the 19" Devastation Chines (Carmine Apice Signature Model) and it was like the mouth of Satan. This is similar, just with more volume. Thanks for both of your comments - hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for your suppert. Roger

  • Tried this out at Guitar Center today and holy crap is this cymbal loud. One of the loudest cymbals I have ever heard

  • @perkele181 - Thanks for your opinion; however vulgarity is not necessary. Your post has been deleted.

  • @ParanormalActivity16 - that's strange that it didn't have a raw bell. May wanna have him check with Sabian directly.

    @zyaquieez - it's pretty amazing for sure.

Thanks for both of your comments - more videos to come.

  • Holy SHIIIIII ...... NA

  • My pal got one, and there's no raw bell.

  • Thanks for your question LittleMax4. The Sabian Holy China sells for $319.99 at The Music Store. Visit our website for more information as we have one ready to ship out to you. Thanks for your interest.

  • WOW!.. how much does the holy go for? in amarica?

  • great demo. thanks for making this I went out and got one after this!

  • beautifull

  • really nice

  • I saw this at morrel music and when I hit it with the stick I jumped back and deopped the stic lol these baby's are loud as hell

  • Hey Jets...Ya bailed out before we were able to respond to your comment. VERY busy day at the store. Yeah, it's a VERY loud but clear sound. It's trashy...but NOT terribly so. Has a very large sound, which I like about it. Anyone else's thoughts or feelings on this?

  • @MusicStoreChannel I did play one today, It had a trashy and big sound so i really liked it for the breakdowns with the melodic metal lines, deffinatly not somthing i want for speed metal or grunge, May be good for rock i havnt experimented that far yet, i am going into a session now since i am borrowing one ill put in my feedback by the end of the day

  • Comment removed

  • Why is there a raw bell, on the holy china???

  • @theTVremote2697 May have something to do with the fact that Chinas were originally played like rides. Just a thought!

  • @theTVremote2697 It's to silence the mid-range.

  • @theTVremote2697 to maximize the metal

  • @MrDrimba This china certainly puts the hammer down.

  • @theTVremote2697 Because it's a custom made cymbal and there are no actual rules when it comes to cymbal making and companies can do whatever they want?

  • It's upside down bruh.

  • @reefchief8 No, it's right side up.

  • @reefchief8 no it isn't idiot.

  • Thanks for the positive comments about our store. We have been working VERY hard to enhance the drum department. If there's stuff you'd like to see, email Roger and we'll get to work on it. Let us know when you are coming in, we'd love to chat about gear with you. Hope to see you soon.

  • Next time I come to Tulsa I am going there my dad had told me about this and we went that morning and I got some Neil Peart sticks! I love the store really badass drum sets there though!

  • Holy Shit! No, Holy China

  • Thanks so much for visiting our video channel only to come into the store and check out the Holy China for yourself. We have respectfully subscribed to your channel as well. Keep up the good work on your playing...it will all come together with hard work. If you get the time to come in again, reach out to Roger our Drum Product Specialist and he'll be happy to work with you on gear, technique or anything else you may have questions on. You can call his mobile number as well @ 918.261.1380.
