I used russian pointe as my first pair. It was because my teacher demanded very light shoes with a v vamp. The shoes did not work out for me, but they seem to work very well for you! Glad to hear you're using Lisa Howell's method.

Pointe shoes fit quite snugly. They're meant to feel like a second skin. It's a process getting into them and getting them tied, but when you do, they look beautiful, even though wearing them is hell on earth.

Well, it might look that way on the outside, but these are the only shoes that actually feel good on the inside! =) My others were all to big thanks to a bad fitter.

Well, I was only without padding while I was breaking them in by hand, once I put them on and went up en pointe, I had ouch pouches on.
