  • Dancer is Mervat Amin

  • The name of the song is called "La Dance Du Café" on the "Safar Barlik" soundtrack. I've also heard this dancer's name was Kawakib, in case you wanted another confirmation.

  • I have seen the movie. It is " Safar Barlik" They are talking turkish because the movie was about how the turkish Ottomans were occupying Lebanon, but this is a Lebanese music, and a Lebanese movie :)

  • Belly dance....

  • they are talking turkish but the music is arabic and she is not dancing in turkis stile

  • all the men lok like saddan husein LOL

  • i dont know why, but i am so in love with this dance =p

  • The dancer's name is Kawakib. According to what I read she was very popular in the 60s. Her name is Mervat in the movie, and the movie is called: Safar Barlik. It is Lebanese, have no doubt about that.

  • its a movie about kicking the ottoman turks out of lebanon. those guys are playing ottoman soldiers - thats all.

  • And in 2:01 they had a long arabic conversation with their lebanese slang and you didn't notice except one stupid turkish comment in 00:45 by a lebanese actor play the role of turkish solider just because you are simply an "Ignorant"

  • hahhaha this is Turkish anam Turkishhh awhhahw so funny that u call this lebanese, it is usually Turkish.

  • nothing like that at all. its classic lebanese. you don't have a clue.

  • fuck you are the lebanese people talking turkish u mutherfucker?

  • all that cursing and you're still dead wrong lol.

the lebanese actors in this movie are playing ottoman soldiers - thats why they speak their lines in a foreign language.

  • The way she moves her head is very much like the East Indian...She does dance very nice.

    Brian al-rafic (EAP)

  • yeah i agree... the costume is simply beautiful...

  • She's beautiful... haha, that other girl was all jealous.

Her costume is just gorgeous... I wish I had one just like it.

  • I know the song in this clip. I used to dance to this song all the time, "la dance du cafe", love it...I should use it again. :-)

  • It's NOT Turkish. It's a 1967 classic Lebanese movie called Safar Barlik produced by the Rahbani brothers and starring Fairuz. If they are speaking in Turkish it's because the plot revolves around the Turkish occupation of Lebanon.

    Mark, where is Mirvat from?

  • Thanks for info --I found this on IMDB.

    Runtime:Lebanon:115 min Lang:Arabic Locations:Baabda, Lebanon

    :Phenicia Films

A small Lebanese village rebelling against ottoman's occupation., 9 January 2003

One of the best Rahbani's films which fills you with longing for old times. Charming story, great actors and perfectly reproduced scenes. I just love the innocence and simplicity of people at that time, everybody is ready to sacrifice himself for the starving village. Got to watch it.
