I love Megan Mullally, and I thought she did really good, but when you usually think "Fancy", you usually think REBA............that's just me. I was a little confused when I saw the title, so I had to click on it. LOL! She did do a great job though. I'm sure this is hard song for anyone to sing. *Everyone should check out Megan's performance of "You Can't Get A Man With A Gun" when she honored Reba . Look up CMT Giants Reba, and you can watch the whole show!* Megan did great there too.

Well said. I love Megan, and I like Reba (despite her flag-waving politics), but Bobbie Gentry owns this song. That said, I saw Megan perform with the SF Gay Men's Chorus at the height of Will and Grace fame, and it was one fo the finest concerts I have ever seen, and I have seen nearly all the greats.

Please note: The way MM sings it on "Big As A Berry" is much more understated and WAY better. I'm glad I didn't see this before I got the album--because I wouldn't have!

I love this song but I'm sorry, this woman's voice sounds horrible to me....her inflections are all wrong from an actors point of view. In an ideal world, I'd combine the empathy of Bobbie Gentry's version with the stirring energy of Reba's and have the best song ever.....but that's just my opinion.....Ms. Mullay can sing much better than me, for sure. :-)

In terms of covers (voices besides Reba & Bobbie Gentry, who originally wrote and performed the song before Reba did HER cover), Megan's voice is far more suited for this country-roots song than Julia's. Both have amazing voices, but they're TOO different. I've heard Julia's version--not suitable.
