..the beer is on its way with a close grip..once again..your not going in at all..let me explain my reasoning..im 6'5" 255# and still. put my hands closer .actually while i did close grips yesterday ..my thumbs were close enough to touch..how about yours..you can not do this with a weight of 315..." a true " close grip my friend
On your first comment you told me that if I brought my hands in one hand space more I would be lucky to do 3 plates. I moved my hands in one hand space and did 3 plates easy. I am not interested in doing close-grips with my thumbs touching like you...there is no reason to do that.
Thanks for watching anyway, but I have wasted enough time on you...
Moving your hands in more only puts unnecessary stress on both the shoulders and wrists Sundevil2027. I benched 335lbs by senior year in High School at a weight of only 169lbs, and was religious about performing close grip bench presses 72 hours after my chest / back workout. Brett your form is perfect, keep up the GREAT WORK!
y lie ..it was posted 4 months ago...no need to lie bro ...but I understand the necessities..once again not a close grip ...despite our hurtings and pains..i get them also when i do close grip..but i perform the exercise they way its intended to be done reguardless of what you or i feel
What are you talking about, I lie? You are making no sense...
The video of me doing 345 lbs was 4 months ago, the video of me doing 360 lbs was today.
Trust me, when I say I can do something, I do it and I have no problem posting the proof.
Which reminds me, I am in the middle of posting my "really" close-grip bench with 3 plates just to show you I can do it. It was just as easy as my normal close-grip, but it just hurts my wrists (same power though).
Just a quick update...that really close-grip bench (i.e. 8" apart), I posted a few vid's...one with 340 lbs and another with 360 lbs. Check them out...they weren't any harder than my normal 14" grip.
..not for nothing but you said you did 360 this morning...right ...you musta added 2.5 to each side..hard to believe you wouldnt just go for a "more " natural weight of 365...hmmm..been working out for 30 years and im 42...never have i ever involved 2.5 lb. weights ...my rule ..lucky to even use 5 lb. weights...post that 360 close grip with your hands on the inside of the bar like you know how ..if you do it one time ..i"ll send you a case of your favorite beer from anywhere around the world
Hey bro...the 360 lb close-grip vid is now posted. I use the 2.5 lb weights all the time...I also use the 1.25 lb weights to help get past sticking points. It's easier to add small amounts and continue making progress, rather than being stuck waiting to add more weight.
Check out the vid and then let me know when my beer is coming!
Yeah, I agree somewhat, but that is a close as the rungs on the bar go. Any closer and you start to get wrist pains; although, I am pretty sure I could do 3 plates even at an extremely close-grip.
The key for me on a close-grip is not so much where your hands go, but where you elbows go. In my normal bench, my elbows are out wider (brings the chest in) In my close-grip, the stay close to my sides and the power comes more from my front delts and tri's.
Also, you reminded me...I haven't done close-grip in a while so I tried some this morning. I was able to get 360 lbs, which is a new personal best for me (thanks). It will be posted shortly...
I will see if I can do 3 plates with a really, really narrow grip and post it when I do...just for fun. I like a challenge...
I was about to run in and grab it for you. Geez,if you were to fart there, you would have dropped it. I would have a spotter around at all times when lifting heavy.
looked decent to me for your weight...but ur gonna kill urself using the "suicide grip"

BRETZERR 3 years ago
Okay...today I managed 370 lbs...I am going to take a break from this for a few weeks, but not too bad for a few days of lifting!

and if you are wondering...the reason I did 360 lbs is because my prior personal best was 355 lbs. So, next time around I will try 365 lbs.
BRETZERR 3 years ago
you need to go in one hand on each side..then it will be a close grip..good weight though but you"ll be lucky to get 315 close grip

Thanks bro - I have spot bars positioned just under my chest, just in case I do "fart" or something. So, no worries...
Thanks for the comment though...
