  • Can you review an MTH ES44AC or AC4400? Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • SD45's, SD50's, and SD60's are some of my favorite locomotives :) love this video

  • Are all wheels in drive? Did you know if you turn over most Lionel legacy engines (with the exception of ES44acs) the 6 wheel trucks only have 4 drive wheels! Maybe that's why they can't pull as much as mth. Can you do a review on your Sd60 locomotives by Lionel?

  • @bradstrains Most O-Gauge diesels, both MTH and Lionel only have 4 wheels driving on each truck. The 3rd axle is usually left "blind" (unpowered) so that the engine can run on layouts with tight curves.

  • @esiegel76 There are some exceptions, like Lionel ES44s and MTH AC6000s (Lionel AC6000s don't have drive on all wheels). They don't have flanges on all of the wheels but they are geared.

  • @SuperBardizzle Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene - It's a type of plastic.

  • I want to get an engine like this but in a sd70ace

  • Do you have any GP7s or other high nose engines(road switchers)?

  • I have no Premier line diesels, but I own a PS2 RailKing Dash 8

  • have you ever had to replace any of your mth products motors?

How long do they last? I'm looking forward to the mth genset review you should do a comparison video between Lionel and mths gensets

  • @bradstrains No, I've never had to replace an MTH motor.

  • Did the crew ever call back the dispatcher?

  • could you show your o scale train collection? tips on not working mth trains?

  • The crew talk isn't real clear but the pfa, horn, and bell sound really clear! I can't believe that that engine is $400 when most premier diesels are $430-$500

  • I have the privilege of running ex MRL 375 on the EWG RR in eastern Washington. She sounds just like this model. Boy, can that unit pull! She gets a good workout on our RR.

  • @np560 Cool!

  • not too crazy about the crew talking but the horn is crazy GOOD! sounds nice clear and not electronic if you know what i mean

  • ive heard mth's customer support isnt all that great... whats your oppinion of them?

  • @Teder95 I've never had any problems with their support myself.

  • Great crew talk

  • I like the Lionel in your other new video better, but still a beautiful train and very realistic accents.

  • Coza asy...

  • LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT!!!! I saw MRL SD45's in Helena, MT all the time in the mid 90's. I am so happy that MTH made this!!! I ordered 1 through my local hobby shop and I need to pay it off and pick it up!! :-)

  • Those two Coal Hoppers all the way in the front have amazing weathering. Real Nice! Thanks for the Vids!

  • Love the horn

  • If anybody is looking for Montana Rail Link Diesels in HO Scale check MTH for their SD70ACe and Athearn for the SD45.

  • Thanks for this informative eval.

  • I saw and heard the real Montana RAIL LINK SD45 Diesels in Livingston, Montana back in 1993. They were the loudest group of Locos I have ever heard. The residents got used to them, but I can not figure out how anybody can get used to that much noise .

  • one person got hit by that train

  • awesome review dude!!

  • Start up sounds. Awesome

  • Great Job Eric! Loved Every Bit! Now I RELLY Want To Get My Railking Wisconsin Central Sd45 Upgradered To PS2 And I'lll Probley Put The Sounds From This Premier SD45 Into It Once Its Upgradered. Hey Are Those Union Pacific Passinger Cars In The BackRound?

  • @MthRailFanatic Yep, UP passenger cars.

  • @esiegel76 When Did You Get Them? Any Chance For A Review? Because You Have Alot Of Great Pullers For Those Things. Like The Challnger!

  • @MthRailFanatic They're part of an MTH dealer appreciation set from a couple years ago. I did a review on the DD40X engine that pulls them a while back.

  • @esiegel76 Ah Yes I Rember That Review. That Thing Was Huge! Did You Pick Up The BNSF ES44 Yet? I Hope The Reviews Come Out For All Three Of The ES44'S Soon.

  • @MthRailFanatic There's nothing special about the new ES44's. Other than a few minor differences, they are pretty much identical to the Vision Line ES44's that I've already reviewed twice.

  • @esiegel76 Ok But Will You Atlaest Make Running Video's?

  • ES44ac's?

  • Awesome review! Are you interested in any MTH European locos?

  • @Trainmaster189 Yes, I've ordered a European steam engine, an electric engine and some freight cars.

  • @esiegel76 Not to be mean, but is it French, German, or Swiss?

  • @Trainmaster189 The steam engine is French. the electric is German and the freight cars are BP tank cars to go with the electric.

  • @esiegel76 I do got plans of getting the same German electric, but only with DB Cargo or Railion hoppers to go with it. Railion/DB Cargo is a freight division of the German national railway, Deutsche Bahn. I'm actually a fan of German trains because, I think Germany has the best railway system in Europe. I cannot wait to see your review! :-)

  • @Train2590 Watch the last 30 seconds of the video and you'll have your answer.

  • That's a great review Eric! MTH makes a great product!

  • I love that horn!

  • Nice video! Will you be getting the Dash 8's that have been delayed for so long?

  • @jpaufsc Yes, the Santa Fe War Bonnet Dash-8

  • @esiegel76 Nice! I'm waiting on the CSX version.

  • hey, esiegel, do you need that MRL grain car for the sound or did you just add it to the train?

  • @shadowknight227 It's just a grain hopper. It doesn't have sound.

  • @esiegel76 it just looked like it had a special link. Love your reviews! Thanks!

  • Great review, The Train Loft is my goto store. Jeff has about everything you need. Great video, love your video blog episodes. Keep ot coming.

  • That is a sweet horn.

  • Awesome review!!! Do they use the same horn on SD40-2s sometimes?

  • Great review as always Eric.

  • not good that hes gonna call him on the cell if something pops up (he says it during the passenger announcements lol) otherwise this is very nice

  • @Railfan108 It's the freight annoucements, not passenger. The conversation makes sense if you listen carefully. Not sure if it's very clear on the video.

  • @esiegel76 it is clear, but when he says ill give you a call unless he means over the radio, thats not prototypical

  • @Railfan108 You don't think train crews use their cell phones?

  • @esiegel76 not in my area, ever since that metrolink disaster employees cant use there sel phone unless all the brakes are aplied, throttle is in nuetrol and they are 10-15 feet away from the locomotive

  • Looking forward to your next review!

  • Very Nice engine and review Eric! I Really like the color scheme, especially the stripes on the nose. Surprisingly I can understand an MTH Engine's crew chatter foe once, because they usually sound garbled.

    Congrats on the purchase!

  • Its about time they did something about the smoke unit access issue...thats a good idea. The fluid tends to eat away at hypodermic needle rubber. The funnel that came with the Lionel Genset has been a big help, too.

  • nice horn and bell

  • Great review Eric! I am considering possibly getting the SP SD40T-2 as I have seen one. It would obviously be a while. I'm getting the Premier P5a electric this weekend.

  • @Weiberts I've got 2 of the MTH SD40T-2 diesels. I weathered both of them, they look really good.

  • Wow great engine Eric! MTH's sounds of late have gotten clearer and more distinct. Thanks for sharing! Do you think MTH has improved too?

  • @Bassfanatic94 I think their sound sets have gotten a little better.

  • they need it in ho scale

  • Excellent review Eric. This is a sweet engine and the sounds are great.

  • great sounds on that unit and your weathering is looking fantastic as well! did you use an airbrush?
