I do think these people are rational and know what they are getting into. You don't just jump on a plane to Korea to drink wine in a wedding dress because it seems cool or to impress anybody.

Before the blessing they hear speeches on how they are reversing the Fall, so yes, they do know.

The blessing is mostly about bringing people back into God's family and the promise of unconditional, true love.
