I'd say that your picking hand technique was a little stiff and you could vary the finger patterns you use, but tbh, this is absolutely amazing, haha.
It's both depressing and frustrating that you were able to play it this well within a day haha. very well done to you, especially seen as you don't play acoustic. Keep at it!
This is fucking depressing. I've been playing an acoustic for years now and I can't play like that. You're brutally talented and you intimidate the shit out of me.
that is so cool that you guys like stuff like this. ive been trying to learn this song for a while now and that tapping part from 2:23 onwards just melts my brain haha serious props to you and pin :)
if you want to get a bit more stability in the bass note pattrerns you can try getting a thumb pick. that helps me :)
@filiodiputana Stuff like this is pure genius! His tunes melodically, rhythmically and technically are incredibly! It was challenging to get the tune down & I'm still ironing out alot of mistakes!
I'm with you on the riff at 2:23 though, it's mad! Probably one of favourite riffs of the song though!
We were actually just talking about thumb picks, gonna pick some up & give it a go! Lack of nails doesn't help this!
@filiodiputana Cheers for the recommendation :) I'll get on it!!
Yeah I've heard all them guys, they're awesome! Big fan of their work.
Haha seshing SikTh and writing is never a bad thing! Me and Pin both have been busy writing/rehearsing and recording for our new band Aliases so it's quite nice to grab a small break and learn something completely new!
yeh i saw andy mckee in islington a few years back, what a ledge!
yeh ive been following you guys for ages, not in a stalker way but on youtube, the videos are wicked though they only every show snippets of your songs! when is the album coming out? :D
@aliasesband Sorry to jump in on your conversation, but check out Don Ross. He perhaps isn't as obviously technical as the other guys who do this kind of acoustic stuff, but I think (personally) he has so much more "feel" or "soul" or "insert other cliche here". Cheesy, I know. His sense of rhythm is absolutely sick. You'll know what I mean if you listen or have already listened to him.
@aliasesband btw if you want some decent thumb picks, get dunlop large thumb picks and get a nail file and file it down a quarter or half way depending whats more comfortable and ive found that works really well. i think its what antoine does aswell.
Holy shit! You guys like this stuff too?! Seriously if you managed to learn this in one day without playing acoustic guitar that's insane. The only adivce I could give you (although it's not really my place to do so :)) is that you should use your other fingers too instead of only your index finger for the fingerpicking parts. btw, I was waiting for Pin to come in with the violin :p
@antiglobalist Haha yeah think it'd take Pin a little while to nail the violin part! He's been learning this tune as well as me so who knows maybe we should do a joint video at some point! Better quality :)
I'd def take your advice! I've always used picks and I'm def not used to finger picking so my technique is definitely completely 'wrong'! Ha it gets my by for the min but I'm sure there's much easier ways for me to be doing stuff! But hey it's something to learn!!
I hope you're not saying the sound of the playing was actually coming from you, because it's obvious that was Antoine's youtube video playing (it matches up perfectly, little intricate mistakes and all) and you just did hand movements to it or something. If you were in the right tuning, there's no way what you were playing could have sounded like what I heard. BUSTED
@fantomex15 There is the sound of the youtube video as that's what I was playing along to. You can quite blatantly hear the mistakes from me, very obvious ones. However if you want to think that, go ahead! I can definitely say that I have better things to do with my day than 'learn' how to mime a song. Cheers
you are way to modest, you play it better than anyone (excluding antoine, but still... XD)
