@MALIRIPPA You have to have some kind of a tuner to hook it up to (like a cable box or vcr). I was using a vcr in this video. Then you Just use the cable box or vcr's remote to change channels just like you would on a tv.
what about bulbs about how much a year do you spend on those im interested buying a projector the only thing is the bulbs also how often do you use the projector
@epothos1 Bulbs are usually very expensive (like $300, $400, $500 and sometimes even much more) but with this projector they retail for only $99.99. They have a life expectancy of 1000 hours. The only problem is infocus stopped making the bulbs so when mine goes out the projector becomes a paperweight. For that reason I use it 5 times a year max. I use it for special events like the superbowl and New Years. I also show movies outside on the end of our house which is atleast a 200 inch screen!
@epothos1 Infocus is coming out with a very nice projector which is better than this one for very cheap. If you dont have a whole lot of money to spend on a projector (like me) this might be the best one for you to get. It is called the infocus IN112. It is much brighter than my projector and the bulb lasts 5,000 or 6,000 hours compared to mine which lasts only 1,000. It also has a better contrast ratio and resolution than mine. It only costs $339. They didnt say how much $ bulbs are yet though.
@turgore It has a really good picture but it is not HD. Looks good on tv as you can see but if you play hd video games on it(PS3 and Xbox 360), its not that good. Really good projector though for the price. I got my off ebay for $200.
@spamito1987 Just use a standard red white and yellow composite a/v cord. Plug one end into the output on the vcr and the other end into the projector. Remember to push the source button on the projector to get it to display it. Also you have to turn the vcr on and use the vcr remote to change the channels.
Too bad. If that projector had a VGA Plug, you could've snagged an HD tuner and plugged your computer into it and seen some nice resolution. Screen size is nothing. It does look pretty good for 80 inches though - then again, I am watching the movie in a 640x480 (or so) four inch section of my screen ☺.
@2BunnyReturns I didn't expect it to be HD quality. I bought it because I am on a limited budget and its all i could afford. In my opinion its a really good projector for the price of $200 that i paid for it. I even had it up over 100 inches and it still looks good. If it wasn't for this projector I wouldn't have one at all because I couldn't afford it.
Gotcha. I still think $200 for standard def is a little steep. Personally, our family has been looking to replace our 25+ Year old CRT set. The screen is starting to yellow in spots and doesn't always display colors correctly. Since we're on a tight budget, we've been shopping for a rear projection set. You can get a decent hd one for 150-200 dollars on a good day on Craiglist if you live in the right spot (many of them are just out of our traveling distance).
@PittsburghFan71 It has component inputs on it so you can plug hd sources into it but the resolution is not hd so it will not look like hd. I plugged an hd upconverting dvd player into mine and the picture is really good but it is not hd quality.
Component is capable of 1080p, the highest HD possible, but only if the source supports HD. Most DVD players have component, but because DVD video is only 720x480 instead of 1920x1080, it isn't quite as good.
I have the Infocus too now. I got it this week. And let me tell you, the thought of actually paying money to go to the movies now, makes me want to puke!
@CustomJ Same here. I just cant see paying the crazy prices they charge to go to the theatre. When I see a movie in the theatre I want to see I wait untill it comes on dvd and I buy it.
@Olvr00007 I dont know. I was looking for a extra bulb for mine when it goes out and can not find one. I found a couple of them but they want $200 and $300 for them witch is way more than I will pay. The bulb is originaly only supposes to cost $99. I saw new egg is selling a the whole projector for about $180 with shipping. I would probably just buy a new projector unless you can find I cheap lamp.
@rockey90 True, its better to buy the whole thing again... the one thing i noticed is that newegg is selling recertified units which means that the bulb itself is probably used and that will lower its 1000hrs...
@Olvr00007 Yeah I saw that. The IN1 that I got in these videos is recertified. It is supposed to have atleast 75% bulb life left so that would be 700 hours. I got mine off of ebay about a year ago. I dont use it too much but the bulb is still good in mine.
Very nice. Thinking about getting the optoma hd66 myself. Trying to decide between buying a big tv this weekend and a projector. This choice is freaking impossible
If the light comes on that your bulb is out come on ,before you buy a new bulb hold down both brightness buttons and it should reset. Also be careful and very gentle when pushing the buttons they break the you have to cut them off and stick your fingers in the button hole to turn it on whatever the button did. , If you get HD it does real good with that as well.
1,000 hours is correct but most bulbs for pther projectors last about 3,000 and cost $175-$250. So if you want something you can buy cheaply get this. If you want something of better resolution with longer lasting bulbs that cost less in the long run, invest a bit more in a better projector. Also, my refurb'd IN1 lamp only lasted about 5 months.
You just need to plug the cable into the vcr like usual and then just get a set of the red white and yellow rca composite cables to go from the video and audio out on the vcr to the video in on the projector. If you are going to use a stereo or surround sound for the sound just plug the yellow plug into the projector for the video and the red and white ones into the surround sound or stereo for sound.
WOw nice pic looks better than I thought. I told a friend they should get this if they wanted a projector on the cheap and it looks great. Thanx for the upload
nice , told ya it has good picture. but it would look so much better if you hook it up via component. thats what i have for my cable and xbox 360 ect. Good work man,. Enjoy!
Yes for tv I just have it hooked up to my vcr and that only has composite output but when I hook up my xbox 360 and my dvd player I use component and it looks alot better.
@rockey90 Wow is a vcr or cable box really nécessary??
MALIRIPPA 1 month ago
@MALIRIPPA Yeah there is really no way to hook it up to a tv unless it has a video out which most dont.

@PittsburghFan71 No it doesnt display in hd. Just allows you to plug component hd inputs into it but then it scales it down.

i have a question, how to do connect a tv to a projector using the yellow, white, and red cables
MrHalo4life 2 years ago
You can not connect a tv to a projector. To watch tv on a projector you have to hook up a vcr or a tv tuner to the projector.
rockey90 2 years ago
that sweet but mine is 120"
godofwar193 2 years ago
Yea mine can go that big too but I dont have enough space in my room to do it. Do you have this same projector or do you have a different one?
rockey90 2 years ago
can you hook this to a computer?
ntune990 2 years ago
No it does not have a VGA input but I think you can buy a vga to component cable and that should make it work.
