I watched this debate and the others with Hunt was in and they are horrible. The organizers put up a false air of neutrality when there was none. All debaters against Christianity were treated very badly and Hunt's arguments are more like attacks than a debate. He provided nothing of value and did not have any knowledge of his subject besides the bare bones and mostly spewed stereotypes which aren't true and came from misunderstanding.

One of the most glaring differences between Christianity and Hinduism is that the former has almost no description of God Himself whereas there are complete descriptions of all the Eternal Forms of God, Their dealings, Pastimes, Nature in the latter. For e.g. The most exalted stations of Bhagavan - Goloka, Shivaloka and Manidvipa are described exhaustively in vedic scriptures. The Nature of those abodes i.e. They are always Eternal, all-accommodating, full of bliss, etc. is also described.
Unlike Christianity, Vedas advocate that ONLY full surrender of the soul can grant God-realization and thereafter, God's love and thus, unlimited bliss. Christianity promotes that superficial and incomplete surrender which comprises of: going to church on Sundays, Praying 3-4 times a day, saying "I love you Jesus" and doing moralistic, philanthropic and good deeds. In vedic tradition, the mind needs to be purified by constant remembrance of the Lord, His names, Forms, Pastimes, saints,etc.

What I'd really like to see Dave Hunt demonstrate is how he's grown in any major way since he first believed in the areas of wisdom, love, humor, discipline, etc.

I watched this debate and the others with Hunt was in and they are horrible. The organizers put up a false air of neutrality when there was none. All debaters against Christianity were treated very badly and Hunt's arguments are more like attacks than a debate. He provided nothing of value and did not have any knowledge of his subject besides the bare bones and mostly spewed stereotypes which aren't true and came from misunderstanding.

@rightlydivide yes it has many contradictions [to itself], let alone the contradictions to facts discovered by science, like evolution. You would know if you actually read the bible. For instance, in the old testament, there are two creation stories, the first one telling us that adam and eve were created all at once, and a few pages later, adam is created first and eve is created from his rib. Anyway, even if we disregard the contradictions, we cant disregard the immoral teachings of the book.

Buddhism and Jainism - the most non-violent, austere and pure religions of the world are by-products of and completely influenced by the Vedic tradition. All Abrahamic religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam - are characterized by large scale violence towards all species, mindless crusades of conversion and mores of a very basic kind. A christian would be surprised by a Hindu boy touching her mother's feet and supporting her till death; a Vaishnava priest's infallible chastity; etc.

Hinduism - like Christianity - advocates strongly "Do not kill". Of course, the length, logic and content of the exposition behind the injunction differs vastly from one religion to another. The Vedas provide huge explanations - giving sound reasons relating to Karma, etc. whereas it is not so in the Bible. Maybe that is the reason why Christians find it perfectly reasonable to slaughter animals - especially the docile/pure ones like cows.

Christianity accuses Hinduism of practicing idol worshiping, but any sane outsider might raise a question - Why should anyone be affected by the injunctions of one religion when judging the other? If we do that, there will be no un-biased judging of religions whatsoever. But besides that, Veidc scriptures maintain that the Supreme Lord manifests Himself in the form of a stone idol (arca vigraha) so that the unstable mind of the humans can concentrate on the semblance of His divine form.

One of the most glaring differences between Christianity and Hinduism is that the former has almost no description of God Himself whereas there are complete descriptions of all the Eternal Forms of God, Their dealings, Pastimes, Nature in the latter. For e.g. The most exalted stations of Bhagavan - Goloka, Shivaloka and Manidvipa are described exhaustively in vedic scriptures. The Nature of those abodes i.e. They are always Eternal, all-accommodating, full of bliss, etc. is also described.

Unlike Christianity, Vedas advocate that ONLY full surrender of the soul can grant God-realization and thereafter, God's love and thus, unlimited bliss. Christianity promotes that superficial and incomplete surrender which comprises of: going to church on Sundays, Praying 3-4 times a day, saying "I love you Jesus" and doing moralistic, philanthropic and good deeds. In vedic tradition, the mind needs to be purified by constant remembrance of the Lord, His names, Forms, Pastimes, saints,etc.

According to the Vedas, sin is inescapable in the mayic condition. To eliminates in, vedas preach that ONLY devotional service to God is effective. Christians often raise the issue that if God enters the material world/ souls Himself then He becomes impure. But the vedas declare Him to be the very source of Purity. They state that God can reside even in the most abominable regions and stay pure simply because He is the controller of Maya. He is never affected by it.
