I wish this was an anime. Since it's by KEY I'm sure to enjoy it.... though I'm worried it'll make me sob my eyes out like I did in Clannad... But I love the opening song. The singer sounds familiar.... Who is she?

@CourtneytheHedgehog1 Runa Mizutani from doujin group NanosizeMir. I first though it was Lia as usual but sounds like they changed the singer for once (not surprising since they also did a second OP with Psychic Lover).

I found a day after making that comment on some site that the English patch for the full version of Rewrite was onlt 5% completed, I believe it was on Doki Fansubs' website, but I'm not sure.

What kind of game is this? A virtual novel or a dating sim? I have tried to play a few virtual novel games on the DS but I do find them boring. Text boxes with pictures. Now a game like Pheonix Wright is like a virtual novel but the text plays an important role in the game via clues that help you win cases. I guess it is just me. I just think that if I wanted to play a virtual novel game, I'd just read an actual novel or manga instead.

Agreed. I really like Kanon 2006, but it's not quite as good as Clannad and Air IMO. Angel Beats is also pretty good.

@SurvivorsOfTitanic I'm just curious, what is it you liked more about Clannad that Kanon? I want to know because that's how a lot of people feel, but I feel the opposite way. I feel like I am in the minority for liking Kanon more then Clannad. So I would like to understand the majority for preferring Clannad to Kanon. What did Clannad have that Kanon did not in your opinion?

I honestly found the characters in Kanon a little too moe, and occasionally even slightly annoying with their endless use of catchphrases ("Uguu", "Auu", etc). I also found Clannad much more humorous, which was a great way to balance out with the sad story. Furthermore, I like Clannad's character designs a bit more. In Kanon and Air the character's mouths are placed weirdly IMO.

I also didn't like Yuiichi as much as I liked Okazaki and that guy from Air. In fact, I thought Yuiichi was kind of a jerk, teasing the girls all the time. I've now seen Kanon 2006 twice, and I appreciate him more as a character. He's pretty funny. But I just think his personality has no consistency as he can be a self-amused jokester one moment and a knight in a shining armor the next. (TBC)

@SurvivorsOfTitanic After watching Kanon 2006 twice and playing the visual novel twice I have to agree with you on how Yuiichi can be a jerk. And I also agree that Clannad had a bit more humor. However what I liked more about Kanon was that it it did not take a whole season and a half to finally get to the sad part in the story. I feel like it took to long for Clannad to get to the point. Kanon got pretty sad starting at episode 10 and managed to make most of the arcs pretty sad as well imo.

Finally, I didn't experience the shock value that Air and Clannad gave me. Clannad is one of the few animes that has made me shed tears, and Air's ending left me feel empty for a couple of days. However, Kanon's ending was kind of too bitter sweet to my taste. I know miracles is one of the themes of the story, and it would be stupid for Key to kill off characters in all their works, but Kanon had only few moments that made me emotional.

@SurvivorsOfTitanic I enjoyed Kanon more than Clannad the first time, but Clannad more the second.The second half of Clannad Afterstory to me had some of the finest moments in any anime. Clannad AS made me cry whilst watching, but then feel at peace afterwards, Kanon didn't bring tears, but made me feel empty and a little depressed for the whole day after I watched it. Also I liked Makoto's ark way better than Fuko's. They're both awesome, and make me wish I could read Japanese to play this!

I think the most powerful scene was Mai stabbing herself. However, the show could have used more shocking scenes like that IMO. Anyway, I think that's all I have to say. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Kanon 06 (the 02 version looks like crap, so I haven't watched it). It has great storytelling and characters. It just isn't as dear to me as Clannad, probably because Clannad was my first real romance/drama anime.
