  • ⬇Haha⬇

  • Beautiful. Not a nigger in sight.

  • This footage is amazing. Thankyou so much for uploading it!

  • Thank you Darren for sharing this wonderful footage with us.

  • HD quality......From the 60's, amazing !!!!!

  • Thank you. This is possibly the greatest rail video I have ever seen. It brings MT UK's LSE and GE to life.

Is this from a documentary available for purchase?

  • excellent video

  • I remember the class 310s being in service on the west coast main line up until about 1988

  • Two lane that should be ;-)

  • 5:56 "this is Springburn" ??? No its NOT..... Springburn has two land deadend line for the electric trains... Great to see the old 303 :)

    Nice clip BTW

  • 5:56 "this is Springburn" ??? No its NOT

  • Excellent footage !!

  • This is the best footage I have ever seen of a Maroon Class 309, can someone please tell me which video/DVD it originates from as I must buy it.

    I know its not Video 125's "Diesel & Electric on 35mm 1 & 2" as I have these already.

  • cool

  • Video125 sell this film on DVD. Railway Archive Diesels and Electrics.

  • Is this video available to buy from somewhere?

  • @DarrensVlog (5.59) there is a voice stating that the station is springburn, this is incorrect, for a start springburn has 2 electric bay platforms and 2 non-electric thru lines, 1 & 2 are the thru lines (Queen Street High Level ), with 3 & 4 the Queen Street Low level Electric, This im 99% sure is Bellgrove Station.

  • @Rivas182

Sorry, Rivas, but I can't agree with Bellgrove. At the back, there is a ramp to the road (Bellgrove has stairs), I think Bellgrove also has a narrower platform and had a dirfferent style of building before it burnt down. The buildings in the background are bungalows (Bellgrove has industrial buildings). I think this is Muirend, looking towards Williamwood and Neilston.

  • Wow, awesome seeing 303's back in the day. and im impressed with the quality of the camera footage, better than amateur stuff from the next 30 years lol.

  • Yes character, absolutely! these new trains, well, if you can call them that, will never stand the test of time ,unlike these wonderful beauties weve just seen more !more!

  • there is noo way would health and saftey allow this

  • Stunning footage, 5*

  • Funny that the first electrics in Glasgow started of blue, since then they were orange, then red...and soon to become blue again.

    Great video :)

  • Nice to see the Class 303's in the Blue Livery like they began!

  • ha ha make ya right mate! :)

  • London has had black residents since the 16th century. And not to forget that when London was first built it was teeming with people from all over the Roman Empire and barely an Anglo Saxon would have been in sight.

  • Fantastic. 5*s

  • Great Video, 5 Stars! and a favourite! and Merry Christmas!

  • Gem!

  • Just look closely at the shape of everyone alighting from the trains - we were a slim generation then. It really shows what cheap junk food has done :(

  • @crazyh0rse Yep, Queen said it all: "Fat Bottomed Girls...": They are now the norm.

  • @crazyh0rse - True, especially in 1960 we eat well, home made grub mainly. Nice to see clear archive film like this.

  • @crazyh0rse Yes, people were really glamourous then:-)))

  • @crazyh0rse so true

  • Excellent video. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Liverpool St Station at 40 seconds...not a Starbucks skinny latte or frantic stressed out worker in sight,,,how the world has changed!

  • this video makes me pine for the days i was a train

  • The Class 309 or AM9 as they where known when introduced where the only EMU to wear the BR Maroon. They where one of the best EMUs around.

  • I have found out that a pair of class 309s have recently been preserved and are being restored to their original maroon livery. One is expected to run again! :-)

Do you have any footage of the old AC locos class 81-85 ect?

  • i was the last person to give a 309 the right of way at clacton station 22nd jan 1994. i hope they restore one or two soon, perhaps they could work the walton branch

  • Wow, what a superb find! This is an absolute gem of BR history. I always like the old AC units, they had character to them that most modern trains lack. I never knew the 309s wore maroon livery from new, and doesn't Liverpool St. look so different (and I think better) from today! :-o

    Superb upload, thanks for sharing!

  • great vid, thanks for the memories

  • Top quality! I'd pay to watch this 35mm on a cinema screen.
