I hate this video. First thought that came to mind. Why? All I see is divorce. All around me. Separation. Problems. Cheating. So I gota agree man. I hate it. But I agree.
Great points! I've seen this happen too many times & 99% of those marriages collapse b/c:
1. They're not equally yoked
2. They're not in love
Staying together "for the sake of the child" is gonna do nothing but hurt the kid. How many of us have seen coupled like that? They're miserable! NEVER marry someone b/c you feel obligated to
Should you get married just because you get pregnant? Coming from a Christian, the short answer is, NO! If you truly think you can make the relationship work then go for it, but if you know the relationship will not work, do not get married for the sake of your children, as all that will happen is that, sooner or later, you will divorce, even if it only happens when your child turns 18. That only creates more sin.
that's something that bothers me alot! just because a girl got pregnant doesn't mean you have to marry her! you may not be equally yoked, it won't work out for long if you aren't equally yoked
Well, like you said you only ever hear about this in certain African cultures, so I don't think it's relevant to everyone. The question is why do some cultures place so much emphasis on "shame" and "pride" what their specific cultural community thinks rather than the happiness of their own children? And its not even with just the baby thing, it's also education, jobs, cars, who your family are.... It's pathetic.
You can't correct the past. We can only move forward. The sin has been committed. Getting married doesn't override the sin. Both will have to prepare for the financial, emotional, and spiritual part of raising the child. That should be their main concern.
