@equusSF: Great video, thank you ! I am from Turkmenistan myself (motherland of this Wonderful horses), and it is a great pleasure to know that this Beatiful God's creatures have such a recognition and love all around the world: they do indeed deserve it!
I know of these horses from conversations with my grandfather who was an officer of "The Grodno Hussars". The "Lifeguards" were all mounted on Akhal Tekes. :)
do akhal teke's naturally have short manes ? I'm not saying they are ugly because to be honest all horses are beautiful to me but I was just wondering about the manes..
@xxCheekyTrioxx I'm not sure, as I've never met one (I've always read about them, though) But all Akhal Tekes that I've seen pictures of have short manes. I doubt that it's the breed, I bet that people just cut them short.
Be careful of scammers posing as agents to help you purchase an Akhal Teke Horse. Fly to Russia. Visit the Stud. Then on then give money once Horse has been safely sent.
@CanadiaNecro1 They are the most awesome creatures I know and I am totally in love with them. What exactly do you want to know? Are you from Canada? The best thing is to visit an Akhal Teke farm and experience the horses yourself and you will immediately detect the difference to other horses - let me know if you want me to make a connection to an Akhal Teke owner in Canada

Crap. Nothing but a sequence of photographs. Why would anyone put this on a video website? Take this baloney to something like Flikr. Come back when you have a video to offer.
There is an easy answer to your question - a slideshow allows you a real good look as opposed to the minor quality of the .flv format of the videos on youtube. With the pictures you can study the confirmation of the horses much better than with the fleeting impression of a movie. But please check the "real" videos I have posted as well if this is what you prefer.
if you let me know your email I can send you links to the pictures from this year World Championship of Akhal Tekes in Moscow Russia 2009. i have posted them on my Facebook site.
can u please tell me about TK stamina in gallop?cause most of the horses originated from turkaman horses are bit low in stamina when gallop, like most of horses in Afghanistan , Pakistan, Turkey even Indian Marvari breed as well?
@bigrawG100 Akhal teki run derby races on Russian race tracks. Make your own conclusions and research more into the breed. It's a thoroughbred breed which was used even for English Thoroghbreds.

@horsesrmylife78 Akhal-Teke's are naturally short on the mane side and normally aren't born with a forelock.

@smonroe67 Thanks for clearing that up! :)

@xxCheekyTrioxx Yes, they typically have very short manes and no forelock.
