Haha, love the burgh. Where I live they fill the potholes in with dirt. First time it rains the potholes are back! We couldn't ever rollerskate on the road, had to go down to donora
The folks used to give us each a dime to get a lemon blend at the counter while they did the grocery shopping. One day my brother distracted me and poured salt in my drink. Of course I tattled - you don't mess with a kid's lemon blend! The aisles with non-food items used to be roped off on Sundays (Blue Laws).
LOL chipped ham. When I moved to KY and asked them down here for chipped ham, they looked at me like I was crackers. Though it could have been the lack of accent.
Everytime I would go back home to Pittsburgh for a visit, I would make a special trip to the isley's in the neighborhood to get a chipped ham on whole wheat with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Ohhh, that was heaven. I was so sad when they closed the "big Isley's" in Oakland.
Even though it was 60 today my dad was already talking about the "massive snowstorm" we are going to get and is already complaining about the borough! Pittsburgh Dad is spot on!
@fesinatorson why I love Pants N'at: my brother is a jagoff and he dont think my dad knows nothin about him and Rudy smoking pot in dad's bonnieville last saturday night" :P
Chipped ham!!! That was a staple in our fridge when I was a kid. And the beer distributor thing - that was totally my dad!! He bought Iron City from the distributor in Washington, PA every weekend and he used to take me along with him when I was little. Those are some of my best memories. :)
