  • @diegoveoso3 dude i grew up in the phil, cebu city. i know those stuff...

  • chicken ball or fish ball?

  • @aikenaten chicken ball, fish balls are flat

  • Talim from Soul Calibur says: "Please redo this episode."

  • Damn.. i miss the philippines

  • @goulddd11 Come Back, Your Always Welcome :)

  • @senichi18 Haha thanks dude. I have a couple houses there so I'll be back soon

  • @goulddd11 Sure No problem

  • philippines also known for their purple dessert - ube. also the bean curd he's eating is called taho

  • 19 people double-dipped their chicken balls

  • Ang Sinerve Kay Bourdain ay mga Pagkain na presumably typical Pinoy food pero Hindi. Ang O.A ng tour. Walang Dinuguan, fried dried fish, and goto. Ang O.A naman goat's head, ang mas O.A talaga un sinigang na walang sabaw un sa Pangpangga. ang O.A dipped fish and meat tas nilagay sa serving plate. Lang lasa un.

  • @Newbiegirl101 Its actually Pilipino and the word "Filipino" is only use to satisfy our american master since they prefer "Filipino" than Pilipino.

  • @MrTagapinasako when I say that people are like "haha you're stupid Pilipino isn't even a word"

  • @Newbiegirl101 dude...shut take a chill pill. No one gives a shit what you guys are called because well...your people don't have a name. It's kind of sad being called after some dumbass Spanish king.

  • @serenity0324 You fail. At life.

  • @serenity0324 Right. If that makes you feel better.

  • @Microglia1 WAIT IF U HATE US THEN WHY DO EVEN BOTHER WATCHIN A VID ABOUT PHILIPPINES!!!!?????YOUVE GOTTA BE SOME KIND KIND OF RETARD.....PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE FUCKING PATHETIC....

  • @jnlor52 I don't "hate" you guys. There are many aspects of your culture I admire....Manny Pacquiao and Lea Salonga for examples. I watch this video because I want to learn more about your culture. However, newbiegirl's comment completely ruined it for me-and arguably for many other people as well. She's arguing for the correct way to spell the name of a king who tried to obliterate the culture, language, and way of life of the island natives. Please come up w/ a new name for your country.

  • @Microglia1 oh i guess it was just a mis understanding .....sorry bro

  • @Microglia1 1. many countries have names coming from their conquerors who took over and changed the natives. such as the philippines, but do you know another example? America. it was named after Amerigo Vespucci, an explorer who sailed to the new world. his arrival marked major discrimination against the native americans, who are still referred as american indians (which is wrong). and if the philippines were to change its name, it would be way too complicated to even bother. PS. im a Filipino:)

  • @Microglia1 oh, and it is Filipino. it was actually a big deal in our country - whether it was Filipino or Pilipino. we're an archipelago and it is important for us to have one cohesive language (which is hard due too the amount of islands and dialects). PS. you seem kind of like a douche. go suck a cock. :)

  • @Microglia1 Personally I don't mind when people make a mistake in spelling Filipino, etc. lol But you, and apparently 102 other people who liked your comment have no consideration of how much of an insult it is to the (many, not all) "Philipinoes". THAT'S another level of IGNORANCE in my book. Europe's colonialism still left some questioning and touchy topics even now.

  • @Newbiegirl101 It's like how some Koreans prefer the word Corean to reflect their own sentiments for the spelling change when Korea/Corea was occupied by the Japanese in the early 20th century.

  • @FuckOsamaIntheAss THATS WHAT I HATE ABOOUT OUR COUNTRY DOG EATING UGH! DISTURBING!

  • most philippino that i know(i am married to one for almost 20 years) eat rice with meat or fish as breakfast, in all my travels to the philippines ive never seen nobody eat that tofu stuff.

  • @mitsupitsu44 they mostly sell it in the morning. same with freshly baked buns,

  • @mitsupitsu44 becoz that`s not tofu...its taho

  • maybe the guy is a half Filipino(or someone who hasn`t spent in the Philippines for many years)....he doesn`t know shit. tofu in tapioca syrup (arnibal yun)? if your a true pinoy you say TAHO. and pansit!?? that`s palabok man....Anthony Bourdain please redo this and FIND SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS THE PHILIPPINES AND ACTUALLY LIVES HERE AND KNOWS THINGS.

  • @KoujiKabuto that guy is half pinoy and half chinese. i saw him on a chinese channel here in los angeles. showing the china town in manila. in my opinion he is good in his environment which is fil chinese community and o fcourse he will show case that to anybody. as for me there's nothing wrong with it and besides this is an hour show so you can not show everything we've got. bits and pieces lang ang pinakitatsame as other countries they visited just like panama same as philippines episode.

  • @KoujiKabuto hahahaha feeling chef ba?

  • that guy does not know his filipino foods. and why would he let anthony bourdain try those foods? they are considered fast foods in the Philippines. he shouldve let him try papaitan, or dinuguan, or sinigang..etc.

  • i think is that a fish ball not a chicken balls ... and taho that its like soja milk not tofu ...

  • that is pancit malabon palabok is more sea foods and with more sauce..

  • that is pancit malabon not palabok..

  • why are filipinos so upset with this showing of the philippines

  • @willludsgoesham The same reason people from other countries hate the episodes of this show that are about their countries: people all over the word are super-nationalistic, especially the ones that go online and google their countries' names and end up on videos like these. To such people, every minor mistake, everything that doesn't portray their country the exact way they want to see it, is an intentional insult.

  • @willludsgoesham becoz idiot guides tend to show their countries as mediocre or are mistaken as idiots as well....kuhhhhh I hate Anthony`s guide here! If I see him in the street, I`ll shout "Mag-aral ka nga ng mga pagkain natin dito sa `Pinas! Kakahiya ka Bro! Pinoy ka ba talaga!?"

  • look at Anthony Bourdain's face. hint hint

  • correction its pancit malabon = noodles are different and tastes a lil drier than the pancit palabok = the noodles are clearer and there's actual sauce on top of it.

  • ah palabok my favourite!

  • Anthony picked a wrong guide.

  • @jaiaguilar1977 Agreed.

  • @jpp7887 tapioca IS sago smart one look it up!

  • the information is so wrong. tofu is actually called taho. and if you tried it, you'll eat it. you can never deny it. it may look different but hey, that's great food.

  • A lot of crabs in here. If you don't get it, google 'crab mentality + philippines'.

  • We bumped into Imelda Marcos. Go to google and type Imelda Marcos J.B. Blue . She was very nice! As for the food over there, we liked everything we ate. We love the Phil. and the people were nice.God bless the PI and everyone there and God bless you! Love and prayers, J.B. Blue

    Love and prayers, J.B. Blue

  • its pancit malabon not palabok..dumb..

  • @coach123567 as long as he enjoys the food, why does it matter how it is pronounced?

  • @coach123567 You're right; I was about to rant and say that's pancit palabok (because in Marikina, we would call that pancit palabok), but the interwebs tell me that a true pancit palabok must use glass noodles. I guess you learn something new everyday. Although, I'm still calling it pancit palabok.

  • i dont like sweet "tofu"

  • tofu with tapioca syrup?! it's a caramel syrup you dumb ass! and it's made of brown sugar! argh!!!fish balls, not chicken balls, and the little balls is sago, that's made of tapioca flour!

  • Anthony Bourdain comes to our country and you show him this as a representation of our food and culture...dude, I appreciate your effort but I don't think this is what Anthony came here for...I may be dead wrong here but as a fellow foodie....come on dude...

  • I really felt that this long awaited episode was such a disappointment. The chemistry between the "guides" and Tony is just not there as you see in other episodes. In my humble opinion that they could easily have found someone more interesting to show him around than the guys in this episode. They are too “bland” personality wise for TV. I hope that he will revisit one day and show the world Filipino food and the Philippines as it deserves shown.

  • My tongue was tingling

  • I want that Filipino guy's shirt!!!!

  • omg i miss thoese it tastes so GOOD!!!

  • LOL...Anthony was not impressed! LOL

  • Awesome! He went to the Philippines!

  • "Yeah, those are the jeeps". "Jeeps"? Come on - CAN'T be are true Manilan.

  • where did he get that guide? he should have gotten a better one. tofu? and palabok?! isnt that pansit malabon? the sign clearly states that. and wth are purple cakes?!?!?!

  • @jasonfbernard I'm guessing he meant hopia ube, but who the fuck knows given the general fuckery in this episode.

  • chicken balls? more like FISH balls!

  • TAHO!

  • you have a stupid guide omg

  • what the hell is chicken balls! does chicken have balls?

nah just joking.... im filipino that "Chicken Ball" is called "Fish Ball" because its made of fish

  • @cabriles123 Actually they have chicken balls now. But that guide is lame, he failed to bring in fishball, kikiam, and of course what anthony probably would have loved; one day old.

  • The other guy from bizzare foods got choked eating a beak or something that tasted "snaily" ??

  • taho. i fucking love you

  • BALOT!!!!!!!!!

  • As a Philippino/ Mexican, im not a HUGE fan of Philippino food but i do love pansit

  • Namimis ko yung tokneneng sa Pilipinas. Paborito ko talagang magpunta sa mga food street sa Pilipinas dahil angbaba nang mga presyo. Hindi pa lalampas sa 1 dollar ang mga presyo

  • This is squid balls or fish ball. Lol! Chicken ball néw one.

  • wow ! .. Anthony bourdain is one of my culinary heroes .. this is one of my favorite episodes when he visits my own country the Philippines keep it up ! .. i love it when he tries to eat taho hahaha like an meatloaf lol haha

  • to the Guide - sana pinatikim mo ng balut at sisig, pinoy na pinoy yun. anu kb?kainis ka nmn?sna ng research ka muna! =)

  • clip lang naman to eh. kumain sia ng sisig sa angeles. sa mismong aling lucings. sa binondo plang sya nito

  • TAHO TAHO!!!!

  • its not tofu, fucktard, its soy bean curd.

  • Dude, you have to show him the dampa on Roxas Blvd by Macapagal Avenue. The seafood market where you choose the seafood and they cook it for you. I think he would have loved that. And also you should have brought him to the malls and to the food courts in those malls.

  • they did went to a dampa but its in cubao farmers market also with this guy

  • GUIDE YOU SUCK YOURE NOT THE HOST MAN...AM A FILIPINO AND ITS EMBARRASSING....

  • KALAMANSI hahaha

  • china town?pure filipino food?i love chinese food, if i am tony guide ill bring him in TORO TORO food hehehe,,tony try bolalo, balbacua, pinakurat baboy sulop (wild pig),bas-oy,palapa...at iba pa..hehe...MABUHAY ANG PINOY....

  • medyo maeksena yung guide. Anthony looked irritated. He was trying to be the host. Bottom line is we have been"raped " by so many other cultures that we really do not have one single food, music or even identity pero home is home and I will always be proud to be Filipino.

  • omg the second they dip those fishballs, nostalgia over comes me.

  • wow this looks like cartagena colombia

  • OH MY GOD!!! Oh how I miss Fish (And Chicken) balls. Miss Philippines.

  • But i do think that the pancit is PANCIT MALABON, not PALABOK. 'Di ba may sauce ang palabok? Correct me if i'm wrong...

  • actually taho IS tofu. The soybean curd used in taho is also known as SILKEN TOFU or SOFT TOFU.

  • guide = fail

  • i love anthony bourdain....

  • ah i love the philippines, it's my favorite Latino country!

  • The guy seems to know more about the fire truck than actual Manila street food.

    Chicken Balls -> Squid Balls

Tofu -> Taho (Anthony Bourdain almost got it right... it's closer to bean curd than tofu, made out of soy beans of course.)

  • A VERY WRONG GUIDE TO FILIPINO FOOD

  • the "tofu" and "chicken balls" were so wrong

  • @paopao814 what is it then?

  • @paopao814 taho is actually a type of tofu... its silken tofu

though the guide is a bit much...

  • @paopao814 LOl its actually Squid balls...

  • @paopao814 have you lived in the Philippines?

"Chicken balls" is actually right; they are actually big, bigger than fish balls if "fish balls" is the right answer you're looking for. They are more expensive than fish balls though.

As for "tofu".. Well, the whole thing is called "taho"... Tony asked the guy, "What is that?" So, I was expecting "taho" as the answer too.. but the guy actually answered with what is taho composed of.. The white thing is actually tofu - silken tofu, that is.

  • @paopao814 Taho is soft tofu.

  • @paopao814 I respect your opinion but, that's the Filipino way.

  • @paopao814 if the tofu and the chicken balls were wrong. I'm quite sure you haven't seen "balut"

  • Hahahaha lol that's my COUNTRY BABY yEaH!!!!! LOL going soon Home Yay can't wait see u so PHILIPPINES LOLZzz!!!!

  • chicken balls , wat was it make?

  • wow im filipino and i barely like filipino food.... thats sad

  • @PinayKid230 Yeah, that is sad. I'm not Pinoy, but I eat pretty much all Filipino food when I'm there. :)

  • @PinayKid230 wow you`re Filipino but barely like any Filipino food...that is really sad...i think you better file for another citizenship...try india i think you will like their cuisine!

  • @PinayKid230 yeah,, because your assuming to be a caucasians???,, ang kapal mo!!!

  • @carnater14 heh???

  • @PinayKid230 oo ikaw!!!,, kapal mo!!<, parang gulong!!

  • @carnater14 dont speak tagalog

  • @PinayKid230 just let someone translate it for you!!,,

  • make tusok tusok da pish balls

  • Tony is making his host pay for all the food. Lol. Damn best job!

  • oh bullshit ur raises

  • pinoy street food kakamiss

  • Yeah not so sure about his guide here. Take a look at my Boracay videos if you like tropical island living

  • I hope he didn't get f*kin' hepatitis from this sh!t.....LOL!

  • I could have been a better host than Augusto.

  • Mmmmm miss the fish balls

  • anthony bourdain is kind of a douche...he doesn't appreciate what he's eating it seems. he doesn't eat the chicken balls the way the guy tells him to. not the right guy for the job i think...

  • good food

  • damn! i miss the Philippines , i just got back...

  • pancit malabon nga e...ang linaw linaw ng tindahan,..tpos ssbhin pancit palabok

  • haha oo nga

  • hehehhe i watched that an\gain on channel TV great hahaha he said...(best pig ever) sumthin like that..

  • hoy gagong translator or guide anong tofu ang tajo? soya yon tanga!............

  • Where have you been, ang tofu po ay galing sa tajo. if you will say to him taho, he will not understand. soya, taho, tofu.. pareho lang

  • tofu is made of soya..it's also called bean curd..as it's from soya beans..fyi.

  • they had an american guest. not all pinoys are comfy speaking in english that's why they were reserved.

  • correct!! those are not the best in the Philippines... amp! kacheapan ang mga pinapakain... andaming masarap na pagkain sa Pinas! nu ba yan!!

    Balut and Sisig rocks! hahaha

  • you know what, honestly foreigners really don't like our dish.I've seen many forum and they are really complaining about it's oily texture, blandness(Spanish influence) and full of meat.....majority of them are vegetarian and health conscious kasi eh.....

  • it's ok. are you trying to please them? i feel like you are too affected by it? kinahihiya mo ba because they don't like it? or was it you who cooked it that is why it is bland and oily. Why give non-meat eaters meat? whether they like it or not, no one is actually forcing them to eat Filipino food. Balut and Sisig rocks!!!

  • in contrary, isa kasi sa mga dinadayo nang mga foreigner sa isang country ay yung kanilang cuisine, look at france, china or thailand( sila yung mga top list sa WTO) they have rich culture from thier dish............,pero diba it's our culture to be meat lover, just flaunt it nalang......

  • mali yata pagkakaintindi mo sa akin ate... pakibasa nga ulit. Preference is preference.. ok???? "isa" LANG ang pagkain kaya dinarayo ang isang bansa... dito lang sa Singapore at kahit sa Pinas man, may mga restaurant catering for international cuisine... kaya di naman talaga kailangan kumain ng sushi sa Japan. Pero di mo madadala ang pagpapako sa krus at ang mga tao sa Feast of the Black Nazarene sa ibang bansa? Naintindihan mo ba??

  • Yum...missing the taho! Anthony likes to get into the heart of most country's cuisine, and being a part of a series, this is a good start.

  • wrong places to bring Anthony in Chinatown. Palabok in Chinatown? Come on! Wrong guide for Manila.

  • Cool... haha!! they shoted this on TONDO MANILA.. in PHILIPPINES.. ive been their

  • dude theres like so much more yummy gud food left out in this vid , m sure there was more to it tho ,come on guide show him the real stuff =D thumbs up pinoys

  • wrong guide to eating filipino food

  • @jakeisdead ...Jake is right, but this is the first 15 mins. of the show (1hr show)...the rest was in Pampanga & Cebu..delightful delicacy pinoy food that was shown..specially in Cebu!

  • "Not exactly the best that happen to me, but good"

hahaha this episode sucks so as the food!!!!!

  • oh what he ate umm like a juice! it is yummy!!

  • @albeanmagz19 ..it was an hour show, I think this was the first 15 mins.of this...Tony didn't seem to mind eating the chicken ball? (I thought it was "fishball"?) and this was in Manila... but the rest of show was in Pampanga at Clark Air Base area ..was introduced sisig, bulalo, some goats head soup?, adobo and I think caldareta, if not mistaken dinuguan was there as well..etc..& Cebu..pinakbet, crab cooked in coconut milk and shrimp adobo..etc..like Lechon.it was interesting & looked yummy!!
