no i beleve u saw him when u was much much older yukimura couldn't have been fat when he was young as he wouldnt be as greater of a legend and fighter
in history, there was someone cut his head off after he surrendered, that's sad :( , I saw the pic about his status, he's not as tall as Koei's version, and a little fat :)
@CognacLXVIII not quitely, in some otehr vesion of history it said he killed himself after Toyotori Surrendered even he succeed killed a lot of Tokugawa samurais
@Arrakhis Greatly outnumbered by Tokugawa forces, Yukimura's forces were eventually defeated. in his intense fight against the wavering Echizen troops, Yukimura was badly wounded, leaving him exhausted. Soldiers from the Echizen army quickly went to Sanada. Now too tired to fight back, Yukimura allowed the men to kill him, reportedly saying, "Go on, take my head as your trophy". A man by the name of Nishio Nizaemon chopped off Sanada’s head
@cookieoffender that from the wiki, tehres 2-3 history story and record how he died, thats 1 fo the 3, the other 1 he died in battle like the one KOEI used I am not sure that fact or not, the other one he did seppuku(a honorable suicide)
@Arrakhis yeah i read that all on wiki, i recently became quite interested in each characters story so i decided to look them up :P I havent seen any other versions of his death anywhere else, i cant imagine him performing Seppuku though it would explain the 'beheading' :P He definately didnt die in the way that Koei showed it, he attacked Leyasu but was forced back into the castle
Perfect example of a Japanese heroic ending. Martyr is considered honorable, and highly encouraged. But not that same martyr shit done in the middle east against civilians and innocents.
Japanese martyr is selfless and respected by both sides of the conflict, and innocents are excluded. Terrorist martyr is simply mass murder, causing fear and hatred, hurting as many people as possible, and resolves nothing.
Its because of the terrorists America has become scared of the idea of martyring.
can anyone tell me what koei game was best? just trying to purchase one of em' but unsure of which one to get, i've already played some of the DW games but wanted a new one, hard time choosing between Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi.
@Guren1994 zhao yun was about 1300 years before the age of yukimura and after his death the Jin Dynasty ruled china.Who would have made a statue of his enemy?
what show is that all i know that its leyasu tokugawa and yukimura sanada. i know these two because of the game in our psp samurai warriors..... is this an anime? and where is shingen takeda?
In history Yukimura was charged of defending a gate but because of the constant attacks from the eastern army he was fatigued and allowed himself to be killed.
This is one of the best endings in SW ever!! across both games, too bad people always complain about it being too sad and they expect every ending in Koei games, HAVE TO HAVE THE MAIN CHARACTERS HAVING A TEA PARTY AND HOLDING HANDS OR SOME CRAP PFFFFFH.
Who says they have to live happily ever after......
This ending is probably the closest to historical accuracy. From everything I read on Yukimura, he matches the character quite closely. The only difference here is that most historians think that he was on horseback as he charged the Tokugawa camp. Exhausted, full of musket balls and arrows he lead one last charge to prove his family's resolve as warriors. His horse was killed and was thrown to the ground less than ten feet from where Iyeasu was sitting. He rose once and then collapsed.
He died with Honor Yukimura was the strongest warrior in Japan, he was known as the Crimson Demon of War and was quoted by "Shimazu Tadatsune" as being the number one warrior in all Japan.
I hate Ieyasu Tokugawa, but he said that Yukimura was the finest soldier in Japan IRL, Tadakatsu was already dead at the time. After defeating Yukimura Ieyasu still had nightmares with him till the day he died, a year after. Sorry for my english, is really poor ^^;
then again, Yukimura, Tadakatsu, THEN lord date, because tadakatsu was known as the man who was "the warrior who even surpassed death itself" cause he was never scathed or hit
Maeda Keijiro was actually known for his rowdy behaivor and flamboyant clothing more than his fighting ability, in reality.
While Yukimura was known to be an expert at Defensive tactics, Date was known for adpoting foreign methods (as was the Oda Nobunaga).
As far as fighting ability goes, only Tadakatsu is actually known to have been exceptionally skilled. Yukimra (real name Nobushige) was indeed brave, but his skills with defensive tactics were more important than his prowess.
Date was skilled yes, but his martial prowess was likely average. He was a leader, not a vanguard general. It's common to exemplify certain attributes to fit with the desire of gamers. Did you know Takeda Shingen was actually a skilled Kenjutsuoka? That wasn't shown in the game, but Mitsuhide (who I will actually admit was my best character) Historically was probably not that adept with the Katana-being a strategist. Had they been portrayed Historically, they would not be popular.
A Kenjutsuoka is a practioner of Kenjutsu, or Japanese Swordsmanship.
A Vangaurd General is the General responsible for the forwardmost army, hence-the one who is essentially the edge of the "sword" that is the army.
As far as their portrayal, they tried to portray them historically in the series "Kessen 1" which though a good game-was not very popular to anyone except students of that era and martial artists such as myself.
No, I wish that were true. But I teach Kenjutsu, and I've never head ot it. On top of that, I have studied this era of history extensively. The styles major styles (Ryu) that came out of this time period were Hyo Ho Niten Ichi Ryu, Maniwa Nen Ryu, Yagyu Shinkage Ryu, and Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage Ryu.
There's no mention of Mitsuhide in historical records having been particularly skilled, only that his sword was in the "Tensho" style of forging but nothing on his skill as a Kenjutsuoka.
Hmm, yeah, you're right, I confused his sword with his swordplay skills. Well, eitherway, he is known to be skilled with rifles anyway, can't be good at all of em. Hahahaha
Yeah, you're right on that one. He was actually a good shot-which says something for that time considering the poor accuracy of Portugese imported muskets.
While he did die in the Siege of Osaka, he was actually beheaded, he didn't die from his wounds or exhaustion.
Sanada Yukimura (his real name was Sanada Nobushige) was wounded after a fierce fight against the troops of Echizen, who eventually defeated his forces. He allowed himself to be beheaded, being too exhausted due to his injury and with the final words of-
oooohh..i havent played this one in SW2 the ending is he and kanetsugu(friend of yukimura and mitsunari) get revenge on ieyasu so the uesugi(kanetsugu's group) control japan and yukimura has a final fight with keiji which he wins (they both live though) and they all live happily etc.
I have this game too! I honor this scene very highly. To die for what you truly believe in. A true dream of a warrior is one who would dedicate his life for his beliefs. I know no greater Honor that an ending like this.
Off a Show? No show can display the honor that I have expressed about this scene. So this is not copied from anything, I'm just someone wise and holds Honor to a very high standard. Not many people would understand the way to die protecting your Honor, which is why many are at a disgrace. *bow*
Honda Tadakatsu > Lu Bu. Stop talking about it, I've had this discussion with thousands of people. Tadakatsu was stronger, bigger, and more experienced then Lu Bu was.
Yukimura Sanada died charging the main camp of Ieyasu Tokugawa. He was exhausted beyond the ability to fight and said this exactly. 'I am Yukimura Sanada, no doubt a foe worthy of yourselves! However, I am too tired to go on.' He then took off his helment and allowed the enemy to take his head. Rumor has it that Ieyasu Tokugawa literally feared the name of Yukimura Sanada until the second he died, thinking Sanada would be reborn and come to take Japan from him.
in sw2 is not like that and i don't belve he falls dead also in sw2 ieasu says tat to him too in osakacastle and yukimura dosent die yukimura kills ieasu well in sw2
lol! "i'm not saying ur rong but i'm not sure if ur rit"...classic. i've never heard anyone put "right" and "wrong" together like that before. good one.
It's a good point. When Keiji was in a battle it was a big turn of events, even if his side lost. Same with Tadakatsu, who by the way, was never scratched in battle. Keiji died of natural causes I think too (not in battle, but old age). Lu Bu died after being captured and beheaded. Sad... lol. Supposedly he was drunk though. So sober, no one could mess with him.
For those who don't know. Yukimura Sanada died similar to this. After fighting on for hours and hours and slaying many men and generals he was utterly drained and couldn't move. A general charged at him and announced himself to which Yukimura famously replied "I am Yukimura Sanada, and while any other day I would be more than skilled an opponent for you. I am too tired." And allowed himself to be cut down.
ieyasu thought hanzo killed yukimura but was wrong then yukimura made one final attempt on ieyasu's life.then ieyasu tells sanada that he was japan's greatest warrior and yukimura sanada collapsed dead.
that's the samurai warriors story but ppl dont know who kill hanzo and there's rumor that fuuma kotaro is the one that kill hanzo and in yukimura's ending he killed hanzo and fight his way too ieyasu but exhaust from battle, and im pretty sure samurai warriors only have one ending for each character, there's no alt ending
ah i c the endless battle one... but well u can tell from the graphic is not the official ending =/ but i guess i havent play SW in a while so didnt remember that ending
Koei paid attentions to the details in their games are phenomenal, it's a damn shame that they will stop making the game. Warriors Orochi will be their last for Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors series.
on the Prevent Masamune Date on Osaka Castle, do it or it will fail--no wait actually u must do ALL the things needed, Hey, I'm just 10 and I got ALL endings already >:)
In 1600 the Tokugawa main force was defeated by Sanada at Ueda castle, so they was not able to participate in Sekigahara all star war. Tokugawa was not able to govern the west from Kyoto directly.
the west from Kyoto by'outside' daimyo. it was one factor that made it possible that Satsuma-Britain alliance was born.
I think Guan Yu was the best warrior, not Zhou Yun, but Yun was an amazing general, no doubt. Yukimura and Zhou Yun are the same type of character in both games.
WHOA no lol. You actually have to beat the last lvl a certain way (seige of Osaka).
In this ending you'll notice he's very fatigued. I can't remember the full details but getting this ending is the way you get his 4th weapon too. You have to get 1000 kills on hard mode and complete each mission. There's also a part where you get locked into one of the forts with never ending enemies attacking you (god that was hard). If you reach this point, any barrel you open won't have food, just musou.
@tobs001 lol very well put. I don't remember how many times I started over everytime I did something wrong. I kinda want to fire up my ps2 to play this again just for this level. It was always well worth the time spent on it because it's just a fun game to play. Wish I could play it online with others.
this is what really happened right? I read that in the siege of Osaka castle, Yukimura reached the Tokugawa main camp like three times, and he fought for too long, so he was exhausted... it is said that he let the enemy killed him because of that. wll if that´s true, then I can imagine how long a tough was that battle.
Yeah, I read something like that too. Something like he reached the main camp and made Ieyasu look bad but then backed off and did it again or something. I forget what I read of how Yukimura ACTUALLY died. Think it was assasins or ninjas though. I have to look for it again.
Actually in Samurai Warriors 2. He wakes up with everyone dead and tries to get his spear but Nobunaga tells his troops to fire at him, before they do that a guy named Keigi Maeda saves him from getting shot then i do not know what else happens... :P
That historically made no sense considering that Nobunaga was long dead before Yukimura's death... Of course, half of the game are basically "what if" scenarios, so if Yukimura survived the first game, he survived..
Yukimura's story line was not a continuation from his ending in the first game to the 2nd.
The second game starts him out in the battle of Nagashino after Shingen was already dead. The ending of game 1 for Yukimura is I think the LAST battle for Ieyasu before he finally becomes ruler of the lands. Ieyasu wasn't a bad guy it's just they were enemies since Ieyasu was responsible for Yukimura's master's death in first game.
this is Yukimura's ending, for some reason koei follow the history on his ending. Yukimura forever! hope on the next samurai warriors they gonna add his wife Akihime to the list of character =D and in the future maybe Sanada's Juyushi too >:D
he had a honroable death died in battle a true samurai

Are you a Kenjutsuoka?
I have a Japanese sword but its of Low-Quality (for a reason... I have to keep it none sharp because my little cousins like to touch stuff.)
So a Vanguard General is the person who leads the attack?
I think its because Kessen 1 was a strategy game and not a hack and slash type of game that Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors is.
I have played it (#3) and its a good game but not as fun as pressing buttons fast and using cool musou attacks. Its more hyper.

according to some site i looked at he was extremely exausted and allowed the enemy to kill him because he had no strength to go on
ssandhu21 3 years ago
Yukimura Sanada died charging the main camp of Ieyasu Tokugawa. He was exhausted beyond the ability to fight and said this exactly. 'I am Yukimura Sanada, no doubt a foe worthy of yourselves! However, I am too tired to go on.' He then took off his helment and allowed the enemy to take his head. Rumor has it that Ieyasu Tokugawa literally feared the name of Yukimura Sanada until the second he died, thinking Sanada would be reborn and come to take Japan from him.
xxSanadaxx 3 years ago 4
Not exactly because it's Sanada Yukimura and Tokugawa Ieyasu. In Japan it's family name first, surname last.

If you're talking about the physically strongest of the two eras.
Lu Bu=Three Kingdoms.
Honda Tadakatsu=Warring States.
ifnsman 4 years ago
actually tadakatsu specialzed in defense and Keji on the other hand is more offensive but i'm not saying ur rong but i'm not sure if ur rit
kakashimysterio619 4 years ago
lol! "i'm not saying ur rong but i'm not sure if ur rit"...classic. i've never heard anyone put "right" and "wrong" together like that before. good one.
DownHilll 3 years ago 2
It's a good point. When Keiji was in a battle it was a big turn of events, even if his side lost. Same with Tadakatsu, who by the way, was never scratched in battle. Keiji died of natural causes I think too (not in battle, but old age). Lu Bu died after being captured and beheaded. Sad... lol. Supposedly he was drunk though. So sober, no one could mess with him.
apatron52 2 years ago

Hanzo Kill yukimura?
mrtyi234 4 years ago
that's the samurai warriors story but ppl dont know who kill hanzo and there's rumor that fuuma kotaro is the one that kill hanzo and in yukimura's ending he killed hanzo and fight his way too ieyasu but exhaust from battle, and im pretty sure samurai warriors only have one ending for each character, there's no alt ending

Koei paid attentions to the details in their games are phenomenal, it's a damn shame that they will stop making the game. Warriors Orochi will be their last for Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors series.
ShiroTakahiro 4 years ago
Why are they making Dynasty Warriors 6 then?
DynastyWarriors6 4 years ago
I meant that it will be Koei's last game for PS2, they will move to PS3. I'm waiting for the the Dynasty Warriors 6 to come out.

BomShankar 4 years ago
Sanada Yukimura = the greatest soldier of the entire Sengoku Era.
Only Zhao Yun is able to be on par with him.
They're both the perfect soldier of their respective eras.
angrykyo 4 years ago
I think Guan Yu was the best warrior, not Zhou Yun, but Yun was an amazing general, no doubt. Yukimura and Zhou Yun are the same type of character in both games.

Both are were my favs even before I red ROTTK and found out about their history!! (I mean Zhao Yun and Yukimura Sanada)

how do you get ykimura's ending..what do you have to do..
coapi333 4 years ago
just beat his story mode with him and you'll get it
viet411 4 years ago
WHOA no lol. You actually have to beat the last lvl a certain way (seige of Osaka).
In this ending you'll notice he's very fatigued. I can't remember the full details but getting this ending is the way you get his 4th weapon too. You have to get 1000 kills on hard mode and complete each mission. There's also a part where you get locked into one of the forts with never ending enemies attacking you (god that was hard). If you reach this point, any barrel you open won't have food, just musou.

@apatron52 yeah you feel like he looks by the time its finally over lol
tobs001 1 year ago
@tobs001 lol very well put. I don't remember how many times I started over everytime I did something wrong. I kinda want to fire up my ps2 to play this again just for this level. It was always well worth the time spent on it because it's just a fun game to play. Wish I could play it online with others.

no yukimura why why!!!1
igotshot5 4 years ago
this is what really happened right? I read that in the siege of Osaka castle, Yukimura reached the Tokugawa main camp like three times, and he fought for too long, so he was exhausted... it is said that he let the enemy killed him because of that. wll if that´s true, then I can imagine how long a tough was that battle.
AlvMar0122 4 years ago
It was sensed by Ii Naomasa...
BomShankar 4 years ago
Yeah, I read something like that too. Something like he reached the main camp and made Ieyasu look bad but then backed off and did it again or something. I forget what I read of how Yukimura ACTUALLY died. Think it was assasins or ninjas though. I have to look for it again.
apatron52 2 years ago
BTW, its not Keigi its Keiji Maeda.
ZhaoYun94 4 years ago
Actually in Samurai Warriors 2. He wakes up with everyone dead and tries to get his spear but Nobunaga tells his troops to fire at him, before they do that a guy named Keigi Maeda saves him from getting shot then i do not know what else happens... :P
BickoGuy 4 years ago
ill spoil it... in Yukimura's ending he fights Keigi and wins but he dosnt kill him he thanks him, for saving him
OVerKillGTI 4 years ago
That historically made no sense considering that Nobunaga was long dead before Yukimura's death... Of course, half of the game are basically "what if" scenarios, so if Yukimura survived the first game, he survived..
vampman87 4 years ago
Yukimura's story line was not a continuation from his ending in the first game to the 2nd.
The second game starts him out in the battle of Nagashino after Shingen was already dead. The ending of game 1 for Yukimura is I think the LAST battle for Ieyasu before he finally becomes ruler of the lands. Ieyasu wasn't a bad guy it's just they were enemies since Ieyasu was responsible for Yukimura's master's death in first game.
apatron52 2 years ago
He will always be the number one soldier of the Sengoku Era. My brother always calls Ieyasu a fatso because he beat Yukimura
