This is great! I'm teaching this for the first time, and my high school students LOVED this video (makes it all come to sense with some humor). Muchas gracias! :-)
oh, by the way, I didn't mean to be overtly critical with that comment, I was just pointing it out (you might as well be interested in a better pronunciation, who knows, that might help)
The Divine Comedy has alot of hystorical facts from all of the ages but also a a rarely encountered(in most of literatture..except Shakespeare)spiritual encouragement...so Open up your book or Internet brower and read The Divine Comedy
I posted this before watching the whole video..i had read the Divine Comedy the whole thing not just the inferno and I didn't complain because it was very very long in fact I enjoyed and students should know that a comedy isn't made to make you laugh it's made to teach U something the comedy has a morale in it(students...huh)
OK if its really true that students hate The divine comedy for those three reasons, these students have a problem, and realy need to look deeply in the poem. Im only 14 myself, and I respect Dante's Aligheiri's blank verse (well in english).
Hey, it's really cool that you get into Dante at such a young age! The original script read "Three things that suck" about the Inferno, but my wife said I probably shouldn't say "suck" in a high school video. Bah. Hope you liked the video.
And also, i noticed something in your video that is false, i believe that you said that dante and virgil must cross the river styx. I believe that they must cross the river Archeon, and the river styx is introduced in the 6th canto, and is not a river, but a large murky swamp.
I'm Italian and we study Dante Alighieri in high school. He's the "founder" of our language, so you can imagine how much we are bombarded with stuff about Dante since early age -.-'
A good student arrives to know almost everything about him, so if you want some info or hints about big D., just ask ^_^
Good question. It's actually a cover of the theme from The Godfather. I forget who the artist is, but I've never heard of them. (It's in that file of odd but interesting music I sometimes go to for movie samples.)
i just found this video looking for some insight on the new video game, Dante's Inferno, and i have to say that its really well done. i wouldn't mind watching this in class at all. make more!

ahah Virgil was funny :D
But, man, you really have no clue whatsoever as to how to pronounce Italian words!
You pronounce 'Dante' as 'dance' lol /dɑːnte/
It's /dante/ look it up on wikipedia: Open_front_unrounded_vowel

@jamesdhogan My daughter had an English teacher that hated the word suck so they were required to say "inhale profusely" instead-just a thought.
Really enjoyed the video~
