R.I.P.the great Mr. Dudley Moore. Also, R.I.P. my friend Peter Allen who co-wrote the song -- he penned the key lyric "When You Get Caught Between The Moon and New York City"..which made the song.
I agree. I went to New York recently, for the first time, having lived my entire life in London. It's funny how much the Arthur movies played a part on my trip, I understand NYC is a different play than it was 20 years ago but I could hear Arthur's Theme playing in my mind a lot of the time. What a magical couple they made. I hope their films continue to touch people.
@alpuretim YOU're SO RIGHT! I spent most of the 2009 in NYC and even though I've loved Billy Joel's NY State of Mind for so long , even though I'm an American Songbook fan and New York New York is an incomparable song, even though Empire State of Mind by Jay Z & Alicia Keys was released later that year, this ONE stuck on my mind and I could live up to every word in the song. Dudley and Liza what a lovely couple indeed!
Oh my god!!! I'm crying, I'm so happy to hear this recording! This is like the holy grail for me - I've NEVER been able to track down any of the Liza/Dudley recordings before!!!
Liza and Dudley did a number of concerts together through the years and at first I thought this was from the 1982 benefit, but as I listened on and finally heard Liza sing, I found that her voice sounds far too deep for 1982, so I'd say this performance is from the 15th Anniversary Tour of "Arthur", which they did in 1996.

They made such a great team. This song brings back such warm memories of NYC, and to have them singing it

When did this duet happen? And at what event?

I second that -- always wondered if they ever performed this together!

I was just thinking that the other day.
I wonder how many people will leave comments like "This is awful! That guy can't sing!" lol!

I think that it is from 1996 as well. Voice is too deep for 1982.
