Im acutally in tears after watching that..! Inspiring! I had this performance recorded on VHS from tv back in the day but havent seen it since. There are so many highlights in this performance. This footage is the epitome of the Smashing Pumpkins imo. It will never be as perfect as this but Im glad they're still going. I just wish Billy would scream like he does here!! He attacks the guitar throughout this song. James jumping! Jimmy devastating. D'arcy singing the wrong words (3:39)!

BC is such a non-stereotypical "rock star". A high school athlete, over achiever, driven individual. Even though the original lineup is gone, he keeps going, rotating players in and out.

Man, what an entity the original Pumpkin band were. Billy had 3 amazing cohorts behind him. The LOOK and POWER of them was unique. None of them yes-men. None of them hired-stiffs. Billy has drifted back toward this entity with his new stuff but a ghost-band of Pumpkin past is NOT and can NEVER be the real deal again. It's better he tries though than the direction he was heading in.

That gig and that time was their peak. Even D'Arcy looked like she was enjoying herself there!

This is when SP were at their absolute epitome of greatness. Jimmy's a freakin' human locomotive! Pushing the band forward with profound yet controlled intensity. He creates a foundation, becomes the gravity for every band member. & never shows the slightest hint of overexertion. It's all in his jazz roots. He learned to 'play' his instrument like an 'instrument.' Not like a show-off 'tard--whose only purpose is to hear and see themselves 'rock out.' He's an absolute master of his craft.

4:54 and 6:40 gets me every time. Moments like these remind me of why this band had such an enormous impact on my life. It's more than just music...
