it's all about provoking thought and he didn't say it was absolute in any sense, but as always some people can't let go of their egos. this is very interesting and i hope more research will be done in the area.
@harrei it's not about egos. It's about having a sound skeptical view on how and science is done and how it is presented. If nobody asked critical questions and pointed out where a study or a claim was on shaky ground, we would't have a strong functioning science. Yes it was interesting and i'm sure we all would love more founding to this area of science. He could be right after all on most of what he presented, but here we need some more solid science agreeing that support this first.
When searching for patterns one usually will find one.
Think especially on the suggested connection between ULF em waves and human health and brain-signals. Wanting there to be a connection isn't enough in the scientific world, so let's not believe in strange finds until they are backed up by other study's. Correlation do not necessarily mean causation.
Glad to hear some skeptics in the audience. (typing while listening)
@Formula400Pontiac You mean you don't believe that the sun is controlling people's brains and manipulating the stock market? During the talk, I could hardly wait to find out how the SETI Seminar Series audience would respond during the Q&A. (I think Jill just spent her entire diplomatic quota for the whole week.)
All in all, though, he did seem more conservative during the Q&A. I'd say it was a good talk. The idea of the earth's crust as a big semiconductor is certainly cool.
leave Zurround alone-this talk had as much charisma of a carrot,,even the one stuck in my snowman.
the speaker should be selling schnuglebusters down the local hardware.

@Zurround100 Another whiny complaint from Zurround100. If it were up to me, I'd just block him from this channel.

@Zurround100 It does, but you seem to have a rather limited imagination, so you are probably missing what's interessting. Stop trolling.

OK... predict some future quakes. Otherwise, I can see a thousand ways to falsify this.

ULF is so powerful that the military is developing technology that would have applications as a weapon.

@sbergman27 Lol.I thought the same when listing to the Q&A.
It was overall a great talk. I agree on that.
Btw. Thanks for the link you gave me. Dr. Kiki did i already know of since she is part of the skeptic community.
I listen to ca 10 weekly science based podcast weekly. My favs are: SGU-podcast, Big Picture Science and Nature podcast.

yeah the causation here is a little iffy,
a lot of the parts were ok but there were a few that were mere correlation, especially with radiation/animals, hospital, stockmarket,
earthquakes happen fairly often, you could just match up any data with an earthquake
