Humor was his middle name. How can you not poke fun at humans, the human condition in all its foolishness, and people getting uppity about what? Being infinitely dumb and taking pride in such foolishness? Thanks Frank for setting us all straight.
Thanks! This album came to mind as I smoked one of my favorite cigars as the sun was setting (Rocky Patel/The Edge), not a blunt! I bought this album one day with my weekly allowance money. I was able to buy three albums and three paperback books with less than $10.00! *singing*"those were the days, my friend!"
This song was definitely written during his early stages. I can just imagine him playing at a bar with the Mothers, and people just want to hear the pop hits, and he plays this song instead! I would have loved to see that!!
@emerpus01 i also like on the song america drinks and goes home on the album absolutely free, ray collins goes "caravan with a drum sola? well get to that tomorrow" conceptual continuity as frank would say
Maybe that's not for me to say...OMG I'll never get tired of this album! And the sound is so good. What a musician! OMG, Mom I tore a big whole in the convertible...I was actually rolling on the floor the first time I heard this.
"Not that it makes a heck of a lotta difference to ya"
that's just gold :)

@BenAliGtor I would've been your friend. I'm 29. Been into Frank since I was like 16. That took a lot of digging.
Anyway though, that doesn't mean that the Monkees didn't rock.

@Mohammets The Monkeys are WHAT Frank was making fun of....if you missed THAT point, you are uselessly dense.

That's pretty amazing considering that Frank was performing this song live on stage before the Monkees were formed (1966). See also the movie 'Head'.

@BenAliGtor Ironic as Zappa was a guest on the Monkees.

Saw him in 67-69 in Mass.
This piece is Zappa's Ode to the Mindless TennyBoppers
he had to play for in his early stages.
- He was the Most Severe musical critique
of the Cultural mores/morass of his day.

I know, I can't get that part out of my head. I think its a satire on people phrasing rhetorical questions in a way thats not really rhetorical.
Like "How could I leave you stranded like that?" "Could you wait here for a bit, please?"
