You have to talk into the mic in order for the vocoder to work...so no matter what you do, your gonna hear your normal voice regardless, it's not supposed to cancel it out. Using a "talk box" you wouldn't hear your normal voice, because the tube is in your mouth...I think your confused.

But then again people who can`t sing at all (especially these days) are into rap and hip hop. Using computers to 'aid' them; easy beat creation, bass lines, auto pitch. I challenge them to be a 'songwriter' and (say) play piano and sing songs ala Elton John, Billy Joel, Journey- to name just a few ...un-aided. I really don`t give a shit as it`s not for me. @TheStoryWeLive dont think so. almost all the old cool synth makers have gone boring. only now in the last 1-2 years has anything happened(i.e. microkorg, roland gaia). Otherwise its mostly "new" brands that are making it big in synths(real synths, not romplers with a million presets but no editing), just check out doepfer dark energy, Dave smith instruments, Analogue solutions, MFB, etc. These guys all make super cool synths(some digital, some analogue).

the xl has a better editing program for all the built in synths because you can do it over the computer. microkorg runs on the ms2000 engine with 4 polyphony and xl runs on the MMT engine (newer) with 8 polyphony
