@gunsppk Not Necessarily. My Grey has picked up words and sounds hes only heard once. While things we want him to learn and repeat often he wont bother. All it takes is a sound that is sharp, loud or somehow interesting to them.
I'm actually thinking of getting a parrot after seeing one at the petstore.. Never considered it until I was watching an Umbrella cockatoo for a few minutes after it had hopped off its perch and started wandering around the store and one of the store clerks ordered it to go back to his cage, which it promptly did... Then it came over to me when It was ontop of the cage and bowed down at me so I would scratch its head... It's to bad these things are so expensive though.
Glad to see there are some other people that agree with me. Thats what birds do... They make lots of noise! They shouldnt be yelled at for that. I can understand the ocational shut up but it sounds like she been told this alot. Also it's so dark in there. Birds need sun light. So sad.

Brings me back to when I was a kid. We used to have a parrot named Baby that would perch on my dad's shoulder, then -out of nowhere- bite his ear. Each time she did, dad would sort of smack her away and shout "bad Baby!" It got to the point that she would perch there and RIGHT BEFORE she was going to bite him, she'd start muttering to herself; "Baaaad Baby bad Baby badBaby"-CHOMP!

@m7mad95 Where did you bought him? Make sure he isn't a captured wild parrot, usually they'll never become good pets. Isn't it a medical condition? Is he in pain? If not, trust is something you build. Sit next to his cage, talk to him, don't look at him at first. If he's comfortable with you next to his cage, build on from that. Don't push when he starts to scream or he'll start biting you.The owner of Tui has some other videos on You Tube, check those out. Good luck.

I used to have an African Grey, her name was Frankie, she was just a baby when my mom and my ex-step dad split up, he got her.
she only knew a few things.
when someone came out of the bathroom in a towel she would whistle x)
and she stuck her tongue out of the side of her beak when she made kissy noises
she only said "I'm a pretty bird." and "SHUT UP FRANKIE!"

@m7mad95 Where did you bought him? Make sure he isn't a captured wild parrot, usually they'll never become good pets. Isn't it a medical condition? Is he in pain? If not, trust is something you build. Sit next to his cage, talk to him, don't look at him at first. If he's comfortable with you next to his cage, build on from that. Don't push when he starts to scream or he'll start biting you.The owner of Tui has some other videos on You Tube, check those out. Good luck.

I name my african grey Tui because of these videos. She is starting to say "Tui Tui Tui Tuiiiiii." Its sad that this Tui flew away.
