  • Why does the one player appear to rub his discs in the ditch before shooting? Is this done for a particular reason?

  • @HybridZero3 There's a type of shuffle board wax in the ditch that clings to the bottom of the disc and reduces friction, thus making the disc move faster.

  • Is this the scoring system that's being used: winning a round is worth 2 points and tying a round gives each player 1?

  • @hallpriest9 Yeah that's the exact scoring format. It's used throughout the entire tournament and most of the tournaments in Ontario

  • @lshgmail And five points wins the game? (To clarify, I'm used to counting the points at the end of the round, with the person with more points scoring the difference, the goal being a 105-point lead.)

  • @hallpriest9 One game consists of 4 rounds of 8 discs, so you usually play the entire game trying to get the full 8 points. In championship games, if someone got the 5 points within the four rounds then that would win the game. However, if the players are tied 4-4 after the four rounds, then you play a fifth to decide the game. Even stilla tie in the fifth would make the game 5-5, and a rare sixth round needed.
