  • Alone in the dark

  • Chris Geo used this song as backing music for a radio rant of Jack Blood's. They called it "I have a nightmare." as a parody of Dr. King's speech to the Million Man March on Washington. It was awesome and here on YouTube until the Warner Media Group claimed copyright infringement and stripped the audio.

    A.G.

  • i bet he ate alot of shrooms

  • @ulkord that's the crazy thing, he never touched any kind of drugs in his life, it all had to do with his imagination.

  • @RocketAdrenaline4220 in my opinion a very strange imagination. i ask myself if he was a social person or rather a person that locked himself in a room for days and just wrote

  • I cant spell

  • LMAO with haplo781...I am just exstatic that I found people who enjoy the same things as me

  • have read all the lovecraft so I had fun recognizing the beasties.

  • 1:50 obituary :D

  • After this, I'm gonna set an appointment with my psychologist who I haven't seen since I was 7.

  • After this, I'm gonna set an appointment with my psychologist who I haven't seen since I was 7.

  • i think im going to need a psychologist......

  • 34 people will die slowly in pain and agony. 551 people will .. Die either buth lots faster.

  • If you can find it, get a copy of H. P. Lovecraft; a Biography, by L. Sprague de Camp. I have it in hardcover. Well worth the investment.

  • I know now where I'm going to college!

  • 7:50 look at the guy on the bottom right

  • ~LIKE~

IF YOU ARE A FALLOWER OF THE CHURCH OF CTHULU

  • I wonder if lovecraft ever thought of therapy

  • @mancak35 There is growing evidence saying he had Asperger Syndrome. That being said H. P. Lovecraft is one the greatest wirters of the first of the 19th century, and he did write thing besides horror.

  • @mancak35 For what? To have made him "normal", so that he could not have written his stories?

  • Love that Miskatonic symbol at 1:48.

  • As a Christian,it frightens me what is in the Dark Corners =/,in life,in minds, and most of all,on Earth ...

  • Metallica-meh. If I had to pick a (well-known) band that Lovecraft's work makes me think of (both sound- and lyrics-wise) it would be Black Sabbath. Especially the Dio years, but some of the early albums, as well.

  • would it be morally wrong for a christian to study the dark creatures like cathulu and demons.... i do not worship them like a cultist i like studying them like reading their storys and stuff but most of this world would judge me and call me satanic ... so would it be wrong for a christian to do such simply to read??

  • @alien16759 yes

  • @Brandt761 ... damn cause i like reading stories like this like demons and stuff and i like reading about monster and shit like that... so why would it be wrong to read about those monsters?...

  • @alien16759 because he is a jealous god. If you spend time dwelling on his rival god's, you will suffer his wrath. C'thulu, on the other hand, just wants you to FEAR HIM.

  • @Brandt761 ... my god is not a jealous god... if he was a jealous god he would have killed innocent muslims and jewish people... and technically im pretty sure i heard once of hows its always good to "know thy enemy" ;P lol but i only study them cause im intrigued about there storys and the hell art (like in the divine comedy)

  • @alien16759 he is a jealous god, it says so right in the ten commandments. And a few other places besides. But he's more jealous of the behavior of his own followers than that of the heathens...

  • @Brandt761 how is the ten commandments show he jealous (i havent read the bible in a while so i honestly cant remember any of the comandments just there basic message)

  • @alien16759 well, there's your problem right there.

    Third commandment:

"You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,"

    there you have it.

I have no idea what you would see as "the basic message" of these commandments. Presumably, they are all simple imperatives, without any room for interpretation.

  • @Brandt761 ah ... well we all interpret it in our own ways i suppose but thats saying worship... in my original question i said would it wrong to study....

  • @alien16759 well, sure you can interpret it however you want. But remember, in the end, only one interpretation is right, and if it's not you...

  • @Brandt761 i can understand what your saying

  • @alien16759 just sayin'.

  • Epic... and horrifying.

  • The image @ 4:09 is exactly the way i picture the Cthulhu Cult practicing it's arts in lonely places and wastes. Beautiful.

  • how is the 4:03 and 4:05 guy called? I feel like i've seen it before

  • @ChiZk00 Nyarlathotep, Messenger and Soul of the Outer Gods

  • Now those are stories of the most horrendous things the human mind could ever imagine.

  • Complete and utter nonsense. Only someone that takes the heavy/dark metal/gothic myth/music seriously (and you really need your head read if you do) would take H.P. Lovecraft at all seriously. They're stories for the paranoid and easily frightened. Don't bother emailing me as I will delete any emails I receive.

  • ooook somone needs to explain all this story and such in one ez to read paragraph cause i have noooo idea waht i just watched...who the hell is chthulhu????

  • @shean64 a big bad monster that seems like a squid-man-dragon thing, from "the call of cthulhu" by h.p.lovecraft

  • There is only one thing worse than cthulu in all its' power and might.

    The Annoying Orange.

  • Very cool tribute to HP. Fantastic. Hope you'll check out our Lovecraft items on our channel and website! We are the new producers of the feature film version of At The mountains Of Madness.

  • chills...........

  • love the collection of pictures if u could send me a file with all of them that would be amasing if theres someway i could give u my e mail thats not so public that would be great. Thank this is an amasing slide show.

  • @tenaciousghost

Um... if you REALLY want to see a collection of images of Cthulhu, just go to Google, type in Cthulhu, and go to Images. You will get literally THOUSANDS of pictures, as the Great Cthulhu is a very popular subject for fantasy and horror painters and other artists.

  • Cthulhu is not evil nor good! You cannot comprehend him! I already feel a little more crazy :D :D :D D: D: D: D: D: D: :D

  • what creature is in 5:44 please if someone knows let me know..

  • @neotetsuo07 The entity at 5:42-5:45 is a gug, a Dreamlands entity.

  • @MeeraTheMooneyed thanks a lot =)

  • Bad ASS!

  • Great, this is a fitting tribute to the master of arcane and archetypal terror.

  • which movie is the pic at 6:40 from ?

  • Whats the name of the picture at 7:10?

  • 30 people will be eaten last, so they can watch all humanity perish first.

  • @haplo781 yeah, but seriously, Sabbath could have done a better job with this.

  • hasten the day! :O[

  • This guy had a fucked up mind....

    I LOVE IT! :}

  • This music is so awesome

  • Metallica at its best, nothing like the crap out since 1990

  • Thumbs up for using this song. I have no idea what Lovecraft is about but Google is about to explain it to me. Thanks for posting this!

  • @savagedias Lol Wikipedia wasn't able to completely explain it to me. It's something you never really "get", half the greatness of the character of Cthulhu is the mystery.

  • Cthulu looks like an advertisement for dental dams

  • excellent video my friend

  • superb job, havent seen better anywhere. the use of metallica was genius to say the least

  • at 04:00, is that the white worm from the last Bram Stoker book?

  • arise the dark one!

  • What god is 4:44?

  • @juliusyeung0330 its called Dagon

  • @juliusyeung0330 the giant merman is Dagon, the picture is based on the short story of the same name.

  • who are the naked girls in front of Cthulhu 4:13?

are they his wives or sth like that?

    food?

    sacrifces?

  • @juliusyeung0330 just a crazy hentai bitch who wants some tentacle sex.

  • Did Lovecraft write ANYTHING else other than about Cthulhu or Azathoth?

  • 0:33 Gman lol!

  • @cuzaseso Ummmmm that would be Lovecraft not Gman, Gman is ugly x3, Lovecraft wasnt

  • Awesome vid, lovecraft would be proud

  • 3:03 yo ya me di cuenta de algunas de esas realidades, y efectivamente, son perturbadoras

  • @quepacho64 mescalina???

  • @MyLovelyHomicide ¿Que?

  • I have the best plot for a CTHULHU movie.

    and it will be made!

  • @juliusyeung0330 the only one that should be making plots for Cthulhu related movies is not you ... Lovecraft's work is the only material that should be used.... period.

  • @metrotek5 why not? is it illegal for me to make a story? and then later ask permission to make a movie about Cthulhu? So I can't express my own imagination just because a crazed lovecraft fan said I can't use my imagination on Cthulhu?

South Park did sth why can't i?

  • as much as he's idolized, you have to admit he was one creepy ass looking guy - even for back then

  • Lovecraft only thought of his writing as fictitious. He created the name of some of his dark manuscripts, like the Necromonicon. These were mixed in with real manuscripts, like The Golden Bough, to add to the reality of his Mythos. To me this is evidence of his true genius. We still debate the reality of his writing. What a great fictitious world he has created for us.

  • Hi kuljeskelija, what are the holy texts we cling to other than the work of the insane? What I had in mind is accepting our true place in the universe, that of alone and without God or science to hide behind. When we face the night sky we’ll see endless space and if something were to come for us they might not come in peace

  • you can hear in the song similar riffs of Dunkleheit by Burzum

  • great vid, the music and the pictures are both awesome... and it inspired me:D while I was listening the music, I started to draw a picture of Cthulhu:D

where did you get the picture at 1:04 ? I can't find it in the links

  • This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!

  • Brilliant! Wonderful images and music. Congratulations.

  • that song always make me think of act one in Diablo 2

  • Love the video and slides. All that Lovecraft foretells is very true, at some stage when science has finally pieced together the truth of the absurdity and randomness of life on this rock we will throw down science, flee religion and head back to a true destiny of mankind... oblivion by our own hand. Hasten the day of our final freedom. UC

  • @unevencarpets I think it's a dangerous idea, taking fiction written by a mentally unstable New Englander as some kind of prophecy. It would be like reading Conan the Barbarian as history.

  • @kuljeskelija - Don't confuse HPL's actual philosophies with his weird fiction. He went to considerable lengths to explain both in his letters. KTJ

  • happy 140th birthday mr Lovecraft

  • they didn't even feature any lovecrafts work on "1001 books you must read before you die" but they put stephen king....

or maybe I was just mistaken.

  • @Jeromepsy001 Sounds like the people who compiled that list were mistaken.

  • @Jeromepsy001 "at the mountain of madness", in 1001 series official site.

  • @AaronXJ oh yeah, I thought they didn't put any lovecracfts because he only published one book that didn't even make any impression back in those days, but its good that they did after all he is the pioneer of modern suspense/horror genre.

  • if you are to look upon cthulhus and not be driven mad are you insane or are you no mortal being but a god among unholy horrors

  • Ia Cthulhu! Ia Dagon!

  • what is the necronomicon exatly?

  • @XcXdualchamp50 the necronomicon was made up by hp love craft. Pick almost any legit book about satanism and it will tell u.

  • @XcXdualchamp50

as cryptic said it's made up by lovecraft. it is said to be the ultimate dark magical item in the world. furthermore it's said to be able to awake the great ones and with that destroy the world. lovecraft wrote a book about it: the history of the necronomicon. it's about the original necronomicon and the copies made from it by magicians all over the world and about who is said to have one in his times.

  • dude, this is thrilling, bone-chilling, this is amazing ! where did u searched the pics ?

  • At :37 I love the coloring

  • great tribute

  • nice soundtrack choice.

  • I'd call him a legend. Lovecraft was a genius, his theories were always having sense to me and his books were impressive masterworks. R.I.P. Howard Phillips Lovecraft

  • Is that supposed to be Wilbur Whately's twin brother at 4:41? Because it's a pretty accurate depiction.

  • The thing about was Lovecraft was not really his writing. His writing was actually pretty bad. At the mountains of madness could be ten pages if he took out half of the adjectives! It's the feelings that emit from his stories. You feel lost, alone, claustrophobic, and just fucking scared. You are like the spectator of an atrocity, watching the normal main character turn into a suicidal, self loathing fool by the end of the story. Lovecraft, in my opinion, is the best writer ever. R.I.P.

  • Wow, several of these images were in an October issue of Heavy Metal Magazine, in the late 70's. The second image was it's cover, as a matter of fact, although the border was orange, and not blue.

  • Wait, I thought Arkham Asylum was Batman. But then again, all that I know about Cthulu I learned from DnD.

  • @swatfly3 in Lovecraft's stories, Arkham was a town in Mass...and later, two of his friends founded Arkham press to publish most of his works.

  • unreal, surreal, yet so real to many. thanks for posting

  • Very enjoyable multiple different pictures, and good song.

  • how is the name of this song?

  • Anybody how knews there i can get hold of that picture at 5:07?

  • I've never really understood the fixation on Cthulu. It's probably one of the least significant entities in the entire mythos. Call of Cthulu isn't even one of his better works.

  • @ConsumptionMayCause

Something doesn't have to be the besty of something or even make sense to be appreciated. its an art and in all art, some find it boring and trite, and others find deeper perosinal meanings. Its all in how you see it.

Popularity is like a virus. it spreads as more and more enjoy something or someone. In this case, a good virus as it promotes creativity. And really i have seen many works out there inspired from chuthulu mythos

  • KICK ASS!!

  • 1:06 cutethulhu! lol he was adorable!

  • Cool vid

  • TRES TRES BIEN

  • Why was there that picture from batman of the arkham asylum and 1:32

  • arkham asylum is the famous sanitarium in the lovecraft mythos

  • I think Metallica's 'Thing that should not be' is also inspired by Lovecraft

  • @Piotrasdabadman91

Interesting, apparently there's a book based solely on Lovecraft's influences on the media, I have yet to check it out.

  • esta bn xido el video

  • Was he friends with Poe an Dunsany or did he just talk about them a lot? And does anybody else agree that The Lurking Fear and In the Vault are the best short stories he wrote? I'm still reading some of them, but those are by far the creepiest ones I've read so far. Any other good ones?

  • @ImThatEmoKid

Poe had been dead for over forty years by the time Lovecraft was born. Lovecraft did go to an open recitation of Dunsany's when he visited the U.S. Lovecraft however did not travel abroad, but both writers provided a lot of inspiration for Lovecraft. Try reading Pickman's Model and At the Mountains of Madness. If you want to read his earlier works try The Tomb and Dagon.

  • Lovecraft was not a contemporary of Lord Dunsany or Poe but was greatly influenced by both.

  • 6:09 where the heck did you get that picture!?

  • Great tribute with cthulhu mythos and a dark music.

  • perronsísima canción

  • I´ve hope that will be cooming soon a new movie of cthulu and this will be epic <3

  • There is one, it was made a few years ago (i believe) but they made it as a silent black & white film.

  • 1:30 zomg kittys ^^

  • maybe the cats of Ulthar...

  • Beautiful and amazing!! the best lovecraft s tribute

  • another good song to go with this would be Floods, by Pantera

  • Just a perfect job, man! Metallica fuckin rocks!

  • Question.. Arkham Asuylum was in Batman, and Cthulhu mythos.. I take it it was in cthulhu mythos first.. right?

  • probably the creator of Batman gave Lovecraft a bit of a tribute for being an inspiration.

  • Thank you, Thats the answer I wanted :)

  • @Nemesis0300 right ;)

  • Los dibujos no los hiciste vos o si?

  • Ja ja ja.... Obvio que no amigo.

  • Excellent!

  • just...beautiful...thank you.....and I love you put 'lil Cthulu' at the end...

sigh...he's sooo cute!!! Goodnight Lil' Cthulu, I love you!

  • LOL.. I'm glad you liked 'Lil Cthulu'.

He's like "a breath of fresh air" among all of those creepy pictures.....

  • @chunter5100 Thank you! I agree!

  • i think the greatest tribute would have what may be safely written by nile in the soundtrack

  • Enjoable stuff, indeed.

  • some great images!

  • The song doesnt quite fit. Something more darker would have been good

  • u shitting me , this song is one of the ultimate, my mind is filed with chaos, awe, discord, happiness...its ineffable to describe

  • Love the references you tied in that Lovecraft clearly inspired. Some really cool artwork too. Nicely done.

  • Lovecraft is still alive and kicking in Caeleno. He escaped with one of my pet birdies :p

  • great images, i haven't seen many of them before

  • Wow, this really is the ultimate h.p. lovecraft tribute. Great job!!!!

  • I just finished H.P.'s volume of work, truly he was the master of horror, too bad we didn't get more from him. Nicely done by the way. I'd like to see one of all the Lovecraft movies made to date. Thank you for your time, Thoroghly enjoyed this.
