"tack weld plates on there to limit access" a trip to walmart and a battery power dremal solves that "limit", As for survaillance that can easily be countered with High powered IR LED to blind the CMOS sensor. Only way to solve the issue is arm the things with small charges of High explosives. Besides most of the thieves in LV are illegal mexicans, if they get caught they get deported and come right back within 48 hours.
that hot news reporter(sue) was the real deal, too many fake blondes running around, allways nice to see a dark-haired beauty, i'd love to pull her around by that choker she was wearing
Banks booby-trap money with dye packs, so why not do something similar? Replace the access doors with ones that require a special tool to remove, and that hold a cannister on the inside. If the door forced open without the tool, the cannister explodes. The cannister could contain dye and/or mace.
Aerosol "shreekers" are sold for personal defense. If the cannister made a loud noise, it would alert people in the area that something was going on.
@herauthon is it cost effective? why are the police not watching out for this instead of eating donutz? the same people who complain about big government are the ones whining when the street light does not work and their utility payments go up. if welfare was sufficient to provide for what a person needs, and those who have extra gave more(not just the uber rich but the middle class too.(who are not poor)) we would not be having these problems. societys cost money to run.
Banks booby-trap money with dye packs to discourage holdups. Why not do something similar? Modify the access doors to hold a cannister, and the cannister explodes unless a special tool is used to open the door. The cannister could contain dye, mace, or tear gas - any of them would deter criminals. Or use dye along with one of the other two.
Another possibility is the aerosol alarm/UV dye cans sold for personal defence; the alarm would alert anyone nearby to call 911...
Its up o 7.5USD a pound, The scap metal buyer might pay 3 (aka ripping you off) a pound but stock value is around 7.5 USD (around 6 at the time that you posted, double your claimed 3 USD)
@Lokivoid it'snot ripp9ing off it's being a middle man to the person who can't get their material to the higher paying place. convenience comes at a price.
Copper theft is indeed a *very* serious crime. My stepfather of 25 years--Earl Thelander of Onawa, IA--was killed in an explosion after copper thieves stripped propane gas lines from my folks' rural rental property and let the house fill with gas. While other states pass strict scrap metal sales laws, Iowa--the only state where an innocent victim lost his life--let House Study Bill 660 die. The irony is tragic beyond comprehension. Copper thieves steal more than copper. They steal lives.

My uncle got caught for stealing copper and went to prison for it for which I'm glad he did, so I hope all copper thieves get what they deserve.

@jblucio3177 why would you be glad you own family went to prison??? I'd hate to be in your family.

@map250r
sounds effective - but what if a car crashes and the mace gets out?
and howmuch money are we investing in this fail-proof-level addon?
People should not need to steal ; there it begins and mostly ends

America's metals sold as scrap to China to help fuel its economic growth and export
Chinese got money and want to buy cars like us...
even if we scrap all the metals and cars we have its not enough to make cars for a Billion Chinese consumers
soon the US penny will disappear and shipped to china as the copper in it is worth more than itself !!
