  • i keep coming back to look at these beautiful images.they're amazing.

  • Really beautiful. I really admire your work. from Japan

  • Beautiful music man! I have this filter but havent used it many times

  • Lightroom 3's black and white film emulation is quite amazing. You don't need anything else, really. Research it and you'll see just how far Lightroom has come with black and white.

  • very nice work.

  • Amazing.

  • how much editing does this require? what sort of finishing touches are necessary to create long exposure images like these?

  • Beautiful

  • I've just ordered my Hoya ND400 (9 stop), and literally cannot wait to slap it on my Sigma 10-20mm. Oh, and just in time for a trip to Santorini, Greece next week :-D

I started out experimenting with an ND9 (3 stop), which very quickly opened me up to the amazing creative possibilities of long-exposure photography. I had assumed I was limited to twilight until I discovered ND filters went very much higher via other people's images online. Research/trial & error = reward in my experience.

  • Very impressive work

  • was that bridge the stonje arch thought i recognized it one of my.. favs to shoot area

  • thank you for share, I just a beginner to learn in BW..

  • @xPurpleBananax

It´s called "Claire de Lune" composed by Claude Debussy.

  • @JoeLTube4408 Thanks. :)

  • i like using nd8 filter together with the polarizing filter, what i'm afraid of is how much image quality do i sacrifies? tnx.. very gorgeous photos.

  • なんて美しい星なんだろう!

I really think it's ,what a beautiful planet!

  • Lovely work Joel!

  • Just out of curosity, would using fuji 50 film , with a b+w nd110 filter give the same results, also, when you tweek your photos do you use lightroom more or the silver efex, also, your photos are very soothing and simple, which makes for some beautiful photographs, keep up the good work, thank you for your time

  • You are a great inspiration my friend! I have only started long exposures a few months ago and already I am a fan! Great work!

  • awesome !!

  • absolut klasse Bilder . sehr schöne Zusammenstellung .

    gruss marco

  • Rule of third has to do with the golden ratio, and this rule is used everywhere by nature itself.

  • @chrishly The golden ratio can indeed be found everywhere in nature itself, but I think it's a misunderstanding to think that the rule of third has something to do with the golden ratio. They are two entirely different 'design' concepts. Thanks for the comment.

  • Pleasze check out my photos taken of City of Bath and Bristol , UK.

    Please visit my channel :)

  • Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

  • @sabbathack Thanks a lot!

  • im a photography student right now but i was wondering how u got the sky in the lighthouse photo ?

  • @ButRachaelsays21 That's the effect of a daytime long exposure shot using a ten stops ND filter.

  • @JoeLTube4408 Hello, sorry for the bother, have you set your dslr on black and white and used long shutter speeds her e only right? Thank you!

  • @ButRachaelsays21 if you're a photography student you should probably know that...

  • Beautiful Photography!

  • great pictures, a joy to watch!

  • I love your photographs. So beautiful and tranquil.

  • @grizzlyten Thanks a lot, appreciate it.

  • nice photography :) what did you do to have that cool contrasty look? :)

  • @bryronify Yes, it's Debussy.

  • great stuff...beautifully shot.

  • muy buenas fotos.

  • is this the song from oceans 11?

  • Hey Joël,

Got a question. I want to purchase a ND 110 filter. But I don't know which size to choose. I've got a Nikon D300s with a kitlens 16-85mm and a 50mm F/1.4. I guess I'l be using it for the kitlens. So which is the best size I should buy ?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ps: love your pictures!

  • Hi Joel, still shooting some great images I see. Keeo it up.

    Oldproji - AKA Image Freak.

  • The shot of the tree by the stream is fantastic. The timing of the skylight is on the dot. Don't tell me you posted your tripod on the muddy flats ha ha ha.

  • Your images a really inspiring. well done, i agree with your comment regarding rules in art. if it looks good - it works and your images look good.

  • Nice work! B&W long exposures are always so beautiful.

  • Rules don't necessarily make the best photographs. These are some incredible images that i would be proud to be able to put my name on.

  • Stunning..you should do a slide of this with a Thomas Newman music in the background..addsmore life in it..

  • Outstanding - Aussergewöhnlich - Extraordinàrio!!!

  • Good i like this

  • beautifull

  • Hey, nice photos, you've inspired me to try some black and white photography. I was just wondering how you got the clouds to blur in the background on the photo at 0:56 . I was also wondering what the light conditions were when you took these photos ( if you can remember, or if you have a specific time or light condition you take your photos in) And, what settings you had your camera on ( if you took these with an SLR and used filters, would you know the equivalent settings for a DSLR?) Thanks

  • @vrx2 The blur at 0:56 in the sky is the effect of the long exposure - it's a very well known effect. I always like to shoot in very poor light conditions, very close to sunset and especially when it's cloudy. Settings: various, depends on the shot really.

  • nice work joel.

  • Amazing work!!

  • Fantastic shots, I just got my B+W 10 stopper and I can't wait to start practicing. Your shots are an inspiration

  • Fantastic shots, I just got my B+W 10 stopper and I can't wait to start practicing. Your shots are an inspiration

  • all the work is genius i am very intrested in black and white photography now. What are you using? I would imagine film because the photos are so amazingly crisp

  • @SkiFantic

    Thanks Ski,

I took the pictures with a digital camera (Canon EOS 400D // Rebel XTi).

  • you ignore the rule of thirds alot :P

    but this is great

  • @peterhqwen Rules in art are just a guideline. But if you look more closely at my work you will notice that I like the Golden Ratio rules :0

    Joel T.

  • @peterhqwen I don't like the rules of thirds. I prefer the Golden ratio but better yet is to not restrict yourself to rules. Rules in art are guidelines, nothing more than that...

  • @JoeLTube4408 These images are really great and I'd say more better than most who follow the rule of thirds.......you're absolutely doing a fantabulous job!!!!! Keep up the good work

  • Fantastic shots!!! I have been looking for a 10 stops ND filter but have not been able to locate a seller. Can you perhaps guide me in the right direction?

  • @bkftcf There are lots of online shops who sell the B+W ND110 filters but due to its popularity they're out of stock almost everywhere in the world. Just keep trying ;)

  • Faaaaantastic! which ND filter did you use?

  • @hojop25 The B+W ND110 filter. You can also use Lee's Big Stopper (also 10 stops).

  • @JoeLTube4408 cool thanks, its hojop25 by the way lol :D

  • Excellent photo!

  • Fantastic work.!

  • wow, fantastic photos, and flickr gallery :)

  • J'adore l'atmosphère de tes photos!

  • could you give the exact nd filter you are using????????

  • @dave3648

    B+W ND 110

  • r these BW HDR?

  • @LouisC89

No, they are long exposures. The neutral density filter increases the dynamic range just a bit, but it all comes down to choosing the right exposure and a lot of work in Photoshop.

  • i like the lighthouse.. nice shot there..

  • Wow! Fantastic work. I especially love the shot of the lighthouse, it is by far my favorite in this very fine collection.

  • awesome! love it! 5 stars! i have a video on my channel of the pictures i have taken. i would like as much insight as i can get from anyone.

  • For the technical info you can check out my Flickr page as mentioned in the description.

All of my pictures were shot with the Canon EOS 400D//Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I used the Canon 18-55mm kit lens or the Tamron 10-24.

  • great shots there, what format are you using, 35mm, 6x6cm or 5x4 ( 4x5 ). love the monochrome

  • Excellent use of light and the neutral density filter. Excellent work all around.

  • Wow!

Your black and white is stunning! I loved your videos. Great Job!

Happy Holidays, i'll be checking back!

  • Excellent work...

  • Cool Joel. Ik wist niet dat je je werk ook monteerde. Mooi hoor!!
