Studied at Liszt Ferenc academy in Budapest under the direction of Hubay Jenő and Gabriel Ferenc. He placed first in the Remenyu Violin Contest in 1941. Until 1956 he was a member of the Budapest Opera and soloist for the Budapest Philharmonic. He came to the US in 1957. There is an LP record of him on the B&F label, S-631. Produced by Frank Szappanos in Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1950's (it does not say where recorded.
I knew Frank Szappanos and his family in Cleveland. Mr. Szappanos, quite a famous Hungarian singer himself, had his own recording studio in his home on Cleveland's East side. It is highly probable that the LP was recorded there.
It 56 was the revolution and he came hier as revolutionist.Ofcourse you dont hear his music on the radio. He did not make record whit others because my cousin HIS SON told me that there were not good enough musicians to play whit .Thats what he use to say "I brake my violin ", .Today everybody makes CD-s does not mean they recognized.

Nagyon jo ez a felvetel is, de ö a klasszikus zeneben volt a kiräly!Abban az idöben a legjobb 3-ban tartottäk öt a vilägon szämon.(A heifetz idejeben )
Is what you posit the case in the present: that he is appreciated world wide? I have never heard any of his records played on any European classical radio station! I take it from your comments that this is not the case States side: that his recordings are played there?
The fact that he bowed before few, and was worthy of honour, as you say you extended, is historical fact.
Ez volt a huszadik szazadnak a leg nagyobb elfogadot Romája (és az egyik , ha nem a legnagyobb, HEGEDUSE). Akinál van videoja, felvétele: tegyefel az u tubra!!!!!!
Banyak Kalman is arguably one of the unrecognised great violinists of the 20th century. One should ask oneself: why is this Roma relatively unrecognised?
well in the classical field,he is recgonized as the best, when ever he went to a concert hall,he was made the 1st violinist instantly as soon as they heard his name,I know him since childhood,we learned from him and we're honored,

This comment has received too many negative votes show
A róla szóló legendák és állítólagos klasszikus felvételei nem vágnak egybe az itt hallottakkal.
Dilettáns vibrátó ,ízléstelen muzsika.Remélem,EZ NEM Ő....

Your evidence is composed in the past tense.
I like your videos!!
