Let's say, for argument's sake, the manager and he were indeed friends and worked out this arrangement. Why was the employee rambling on about having to calm down because of customers or "guests" as he called it, if it was set up? The whole chaos of the incident would certainly hurt their register a little, because I doubt people would want to eat where they were in danger of being accidentally hit in the head with a flying plate.
