this version of candle in the wind was my favorite EJ song of all time. i went to this venue in 1991 in sydney and always remember this song/experience as my favorite EJ of all time. he is a legend.. has been for 30 years.
Yes I see what you mean. I was just commenting that it was the Melbourne symphony orchestra that came to sydney to perform with Elton. In retrospect it's a little strange. I would have thought that the Sydney Symphony Orchestra could have done the job just as well but maybe they were on tour at the time. Anyone know?
The concert was the last in a series of 27 performances covering all of Australia. The tour had begun in Brisbane and had played the capacity audiences everywhere, including Melbourne, Adelaide.........
Perhaps this is an answer - he was touring with this orchestra. Anyway, thank you for this!
@Shaun17170 I think it was because Elton did 8 concerts in Melbourne with their orchestra and it makes sense to use them as they knew what to play and it saved time with rehearsals
He sounded just like this after his surgery.

Also, it's incredible how only a few weeks later, Elton had an operation on his throat which changed his voice forever!
