Disney cartoons weren't always about comedy. They had lessons to teach and touching stories to tell. Seeing cartoons like these really shows that Walt was good at doing more than just making an audience laugh. And by the way, the gun gag teaches us an important lesson: no matter how much your parents wanted to shoot you when raising you, they have always loved you too much to do it.

i watched this when i was a child, but my parents were there to telling me about guns and all stuff, the key is not about guns is about education and parents putting attention to their children. Not using videogames to avoid any disturb with their work lifes.

This was a beautiful story! :( Why was it censored? Not because Donald held a gun? He learned a valuable lesson that many parents who have ever wrongfully struck their children learn. And love, as always, finds a way to win. What a shame that this is allegedly censored?

I'm surprised Donald didn't shrink from his embarrassment this time, but then the plot would have gone in a different direction if he had. What is the gender of the penguin, I wonder? Either way the penguin is cuddly and cute and it would be a great tragedy if Donald had shot it. I don't often see Donald's heart in the right place and he just let the loss of his goldfish go.
