Yeah, Eve was the student body president at Chapel Hill Univ. The police or rather from what i've heard believe it was a random act. wrong place at the wrong time. She was kidnapped and then shot to death. They found both the suspects and they are now in jail. It was quite a stir, it even was a hot topic on Nancy Grace for quite awhile. Really sad story...dats y anoop paid tribute to her. she was his friend and that night at the univ they were having a memorial because it was the 1 yr anniv.

They were good friends and fellow students, and she was a huge, loyal fan of all of the Clef Hangers. Brutally murdered exactly one year ago yesterday and the memorial service recognizing the one year date was in Chapel Hill, which Anoop had to miss to be in Hollywood, so he wanted to let everyone know his heart was with them and with Eve in Heaven.

No...it doesn't have to be gender even anymore. In Season 3, there were 8 women and only 4 men in the top 12. The judges can put whoever they want into the top 12, regardless of gender balance. However, it's not false to say that having a lot of guys already in the top 12 may discourage the judges slightly from putting too many more guys through. But there is no OFFICIAL rule saying that the gender ratio has to be balanced.
