great vid thanks for uploading. he stays very connected - his full swing is basically just an extension of those chip shots he was hitting at the start. very simple he eliminates a lot of things that can potentially go wrong with this technique of his. it just goes to show - everyones different.
Ryo has a great swing maybe the best there is. BUT I notice that he gets a little static in his routine. Notice when he goes through some driver positions before hitting his first drive he's very unhappy with it. He would be better off just making several full swings forwards and backwards, and then letting it rip. You can't analyze your swing plane with static positions because the swing itself is not static. That being said his balance is unbelievable.
best practice video on youtube at the moment. Anybody is looking for THE KEY MOVE in the golf swing, here it is the shoulder turn. IT IS NOT A TURN bud the left shoulder is going down an up !!!. no hand action at all just natural relaese.
it will give you perfect tempo, straight ball flight to the target, consistency, automatic weight-shift and time to have fun to think about
Ryo starts off with a routine to get the feel of impact and arm/body position. To me, this is THE future swing of golf. Complete obsession with a geometrical plane (true for both shaft & clubhead!) and staying true to it at all times. He will be the greatest. Mark my words. :)
Thank you rippen. Your youtube comment has really changed my life and opened my eyes to many things. Keep up the good work making the internet better and better everyday!
its so crazy just two or three years ago he was playing top junior tournaments in the u.s. and he was getting his ass whooped. like at bay hill invit and junior world. now hes top 50 world rankings.
the reason why he hits little chip shots as warm up is because he wants to concentrate on the impact zone. a chip shot is a smaller version of a full swing if u look at a pro hitting chip shots his hand position is similar at impact as to his full swing. when you have this feeling of the club kompressing the ball your able to control spin trajectory and distance much easier.
3:14 = thin and clanky. That's why he freaks out before he hits the next one. And the trajectory is a mile higher. Great way to practice. He's definitely got some things he's working on. It looks like his release and hand position at impact, IMO.
i cant believe you have the nerve to critique his swing. Rory and himself are the two youngest kids on tour do you know how many 20 year old kids play golf across the world? He is one of the best so dont try to sound smart and say stupid things to make yourself look good. If you were a real golfer you wouldnt say anything at all you would just go to the next vid instead ur an ignorant pric who thinks hes cool. your prob like a 8 handicap
no. he's trying to feel the correct shaft position at impact, and thru. watch his first few swings, they give an indication of what he wants at impact.

is he restricting his hip turn or training his body to restrict it by doing those little chips shots?
