  • It is a laughter track, added after. It is stupid and ruins the show. But it was an experimental show at the time it was on TV. Now, we see it as standard that there should not be a laughter track. Hopefully, someone will have removed it on the DVDs.

  • To the people who complain about 'canned laughter' - there might have been a live studio audience?

  • This was an excellent series!

  • The canned laughter pretty much ruins this for me.

  • go to Goozys you tube page all the episodes no canned laughter.

  • to all those in the media biz who think you tube is killing you off. "this gave me a chance to catch a clip of an old show and to make me think of buying the dvd." unfortunately a laughter track has been added so i won't be shelling out. touche!

  • just watched the great perry benson in "Magic" on channel 4's coming up series and it made me look up this great show. hilarious first time round, years before the office, it was so dead pan. But now it has a CANNED LAUGHTER TRACK ADDED???!!??! and it kills it dead! i hope the dvd is the original show. i won't be buying it now just in case. great show, crap version.

  • Fuck. I don't remember the canned laughter. Ruined it.

  • WTF is with the laughter track? It's totally out of place and completely rubbish.

  • ''He can't be racist, he's an ex-policeman for God's sake!''

  • An absolute gem! Perfect chemistry and, I believe mostly imporvised. Thanks for uploading.

  • ''Mark, nip out and get us a midget would ya?''

  • So underrated the show was......

  • I hate who Gervais and Merchant never acknowledge this as inspiration for the office.

  • One of the funniest things I have ever seen, brilliant chemistry between these talented improvised Actors. Thanks for uploading. More if possible!

  • I've been trying to find this again for a bit over a year now, finally remembered the name of it when i saw it in HMV, so relieved! Its been driving me mad!

  • GET ME SOME BLOODY MIDGETS NOW !!! ,LOL

  • Jubilee was probably the best...the dog shit scene was pure class!!

  • Hilarious show.

Combination of good research (Beach is just too fuckin authentic!) and great ad libs.

  • Good news for all you OGG fans on here, I've just found out on Brit Flick Productions website, which is owned by Ray Burdis (DS Raymond Ash), Mark Burdis (Mark Kemp) and John Beckett (Strings).

That a feature film of the show called Operation Good Guys – The Beach is Back is in the pipeline. It will feature the original cast, plus cameos from Jude Law, Jonny Lee Miller and Denise van Outen.

I can't wait, great news or what.

  • glad its on here it was fab when it first came out very very underated indeed

  • @6:07 - Brilliant.

  • @6:07 - Brilliant.

  • Massivley underated real comedy. . .

  • should still be on the tv, it was brilliant. :)

  • This was indeed, brilliant

  • The good shows r always under rated.

The office totally ripped off the format.

  • Winner of the BAFTA for Best Dead Hamster in a Paul Jackson production since 1983's The Young Ones

  • I've read some people say Reno 911 was inspired by this among other such shows like Cops and stuff. From what I remember of Operation Good Guys, it seems likly or just a very very strange coincidence

  • @zombiekicker haha thats my fave bit too mate

  • these are all in love honour and obey.

  • one of the greatest shows on tv ever ... so under rated.

  • Remeber the episode with Jude Laws and johnny Miller? Fucken hilarious

  • loved that episode one of my favourites!

  • they fed him lentils and gave him water. lol

  • Its obvious what Ricky Gervais' crew were watching when they wrote the office.

    pure class.

  • Has anyone got the one where they are chased across a field by a tank?

  • YES! i havent seen this for years , nice one for uploading.

  • remember watching it when i was young my favourite was the barn scene with the pig and the screaming do you like dogs boy come to my barn classic

  • Best series ever made. The dye-bag is just EPIC WIN! :D

  • get it on tele again. it was such a laugh

  • This show is so underrated, when I first watched it, I thought it was an actual police documentary...it was episode 1 series 2 where they were re-training!

I am so glad I just brought it on dvd, all 3 for a tenner :)

  • I too thought it was real when i first saw it on tv.

Incidentally the first episode i saw was also the training camp one.

  • I agree, very funny and underrated series. I'd love to see the 'Frisk 'em' episode again where they opened the money bag with the dye in it. Nearly pissed myself laughing!

  • They should show this on dave.

  • The BBC must show this again, and take off the bloody stupid laughter track.

  • @aardmans

i never heard of this show until lately...and it looks great, but the laughter track absolutely smashes it to bits

  • @c64c64c64

actually, for me, it makes it unwatchable

  • agree with everybody else well underated, i have the boxset and think every episode is awesome, nobody i know has even heard of it!! 7.00 - 7.35 cracks me up every time.

  • I loved it when I watched it on TV years ago - as previous posters have said it was vastly underrated but hilarious. My favourite bits were when they played computer games and abused the keyboard, had to travel by bus to crime scenes and use public telephones to communicate - perfect comedy!!

  • Highly underrated series that was a forerunner to The Office.

  • @bobgrantsbus The office just copied it basically!

  • Very very funny....underrated...and ...

  • Rolph harris and seaside specials

  • the funniest comedy ever produced...very underated they should re-air it

  • A mock documentry team following day to day lives of police officers, their boss is an incompetant fool who thinks he is brilliant, he has a simple minded assistant and there are various other charecters. very funny and original idea. How Ray Burdis (writer & star) must have enjoyed The Office when it came out a few years later.

  • can u uploads other episodes pleaseeeee?, its impossible to find any episodes anywhere online!, Ive searched for hours!. thanx

  • Still funny. Certainly don't make em' like this anymore, probably afraid of insulting someone. They probably would but the key is to ignore whiny little bithces like that.

  • why's was this show so underated??!!! know one i know even know's about it??!!!! i have the whole boxset at home!! they really need to get this back on tv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • now get me some bloody midgets!

  • It's Ready Or Not by Feelybooth

  • Does anyone know the song that played out Operation Good Guys? It was diffent to the introduction signature music.

"Ready or not, here I come, I'm gonna get you" is the opening line.

  • Yes I do remember it.

    Was that the answer?

Or did you want to know who did it?

  • hey thanks bro

  • fuckin idiot.

  • classs !!!!!!!!!

  • Their is a film called

"Love, Honoour and Obey" which has all of this cast in it, its a gongsdtar film with ray winstone and jude law.

  • the bastards at the bbc do, bastards!

  • the canned laughter werent in the 1st series i dunno y they put it in it spoils the mockumentry feel

  • Yeah, it detracts from the overall quality I have to agree. From what I heard though this decision was made by the BBC. The makers didnt want it and tried to fight getting it put in but in the end the BBC didnt give them any choice. They added it anyway.

  • Ive got the boxset of this and never realised the laughter track running on series 3 untill you said. cant stop noticing it now, it really ruins it. they really are "bastards at the bbc"

  • Very funny and not that far from reality. Way better than the office etc.

  • the canned laughter is SO frustrating - not relevant these days ruins the show

  • lol i found it.i cant for the life of me think why they canncelled a classic comedy in my opinion.bring it back! please

  • pure class it most definetly b shown again on bbc2

  • such a great show, watched it over and over and over and still great

  • fantastic one of my favourite shows

  • lol lol lol

  • The canned laughter is not neccesary

  • I never noticed the laughter, but now that you mention it, it does ruin it. Doesnt do it justice

  • Bring it back. Can't take the shit that comes on the BBC now.

  • It's on BBC 4 on Tuesdays at 10pm. It started yesterday with the 1st episode (The Informant).

  • oh yeah by the way, nip out and get us a midget mark

    lol. classic one liner!

  • haha i no ray whos plays DT ASH i helped build a slwimming pool for him and his family! brooke his daughter is friends with my cousin and im mates with his son skye lol thats well kewl!

  • love the good guys but why did they have to put a laughter track on it. the origional bbc series never had it and i think its better without it.

  • totally agree with all of you there. I cant pick a fav episode cos there all class!!! I loved this programme when it aired, shame they stopped making them. I got the box set a while ago aswell so i can watch to my hearts content.

  • amazing comedy

  • Most certainly the most under-rated comedy in the last twenty years on television. This may not be classical comedy but it's better than a lot of comedies you get on the box at the moment.

  • the best good guys episode has the be the desert island one

  • Totally agree , I have all the series on DVD , GENIUS!!

  • YEAH!!! Been loking for some GoodGu8ys for ages! Brilliant pal, bloody brilliant! Have you got the Equal Oppertunities episode and what about Raging Pig the boxing one? Ow Im in heaven! Thankyou, the most underated comedey of all time!
