  • I finally got to see the ending after all these years. I'm pretty sure my game was bugged somewhere at or just after the tree part and there were no patches back then. Maybe it had something to do with a tornado monster I had released earlier in the game and it showed up there and crashed the game, can't remember for sure. Anyway thanks.

  • 1:41 like a boss.

  • It will be so cool if they make remake and little longer.

  • 2:06

    Troll laugh

  • Life insurance music kicks in at 1:47 :)

  • THANK you SO much for sharing this. I have tried to play this game some years ago, but never went this far (only to the slimy monster in the bathtop)

    TY :) AthenaDobermann

  • my ending is bombing the house and then escape the fuck out

  • Thankyou for a great walkthrough. You brought me back so many good memories.

  • always loved that ending ... and the Birds :D

  • Wow, I never would've been able to combine so many things together... It's shocking how older games were so much more complex than contemporary shootin'/killin' games... These games forced their players to THINK, not just rumble around with a sub-machine gun and put a dozen holes in the pedestrians! Long live AITD!!

  • Merci, c'était vraiment un super walk-through.

    :-)

  • What was with the dead car driver? Was he evil?

  • @huiale14 I think that was probably just to signify that evil doesnt die with the house, or myabe Pregtz lives on. Kind of like In Dracula when the horseman who takes Harker from the trainstation to the Castle was Evil; probably Dracula himself.

  • @MrZangetsu468 Or maybe it's just French humor :)

  • @HokutoDynasty you're right, French was my first language and I find this hilarious :P

  • @MrZangetsu468 Merci, je suis Français :P

  • Jump for joy, Carnby. You've earned it :3

  • Nice ending music, amazing game, now I better get started with AitD 5 :D

  • 1:35 - A few seconds from the beginning of the 2. Movement from Dvorak's 9th symphony...Just Great!!!

  • 1:35 - A few seconds from the beginning ofnthe 2. Movement from Dvorak's 9th symphony...Just great!!!

  • Do you know D2 of dreamcast?

Good artgame!Ending is very hot!please try!

  • what year this game?

  • @Deeype it's from 1992.

  • @MateOmega thank you ^^

  • Thank you for doing this walkthrough. At last I could see what the mystery of the manor was and experience the game to its end.

    I salute you!

  • @Goblinoid90 thanks a lot dude, this game is awesome, one of the best classics!

  • Fin

  • the best game all times.. thanks..

  • Many, many thanks for making me relive this game!

  • i nver got this far

  • Welll wasn't that a fun way to spend a night?

  • I remember getting this gift at christmas. I was so happy to find it under the christmas tree at 8:30pm. Also I had to fight with config.sys and autoexec.bat until 11:30pm to run it on my low memory IBM PS2! Does himem.sys and emm386.exe ring the bell to some people?

Then I remember playing until I felt asleep, after I had fallen into the 2nd floor hole!

I'm so willing to find such a good game nowadays.

Thank you again for your video. I discovered new dimensions of the scenario!

  • I was too young to ever get to the end...funny how much different it is underground than above.

  • The end reminds me of nightmare on elm street where freddy drives the car at the end.

  • Very good playthrough! Thank you so much for taking time and recording such a classic game :)

  • Where is the frog ?

  • I completed this game like 17 years ago, but every time I see the ending sequence or hear that music I can feel again all the satisfaction I felt that day.

  • nice work

  • if all Pregzt's minions died with him, who does that driver zombie serve?

  • @ShadowTwain I bet he's just a joke :p

  • the ending music reminds me of Little Big Adventure 2 (LBA2) =D

  • Thank you so much for posting this! Watched all the vids and enjoyed every second of it. This was one of my favourites as a little girl and watching you play brought back some awesome memories :) You rock, dude! <3

  • That was cool thanks for dig it i playedthis game for hours o ed never got half as far as the end.

  • Thanks a lot man. This game is too fucking hard to win by myself :P

  • Nothing quite says victory like a 3 foot jump and splits.

  • Thank you so much for this playthrough. Ach, the memories...

  • I would've taken that zombie driver head and bashed it into the steering wheel! Fucking zombie!

  • el final es simbolico yo creo q Edward Carnby elimino la maldicion pero murio el tambien en ese momento por eso no espera la muerte al final para llevarnos

  • Comment removed

  • THANKS

  • Nice Job!!! It was the Best Game of my Child time!!!

  • even if u don't remove the barrels u can pass there later

  • good job frederic raynald

  • ALL AITD GAMES EXCEPT AITD5 ARE COOL

  • @tekkenforever82

Even AITD5 (PS3 version of course) is cool if you take it for what it is.

  • @POLE7645 i played it,and ive been bored like hell.i think AITD1 and 4 Are best in the series but AITD5 is not AITD.Its something else.It doesnt match to the series. But this walktrough is cool and try to Play alone in the dark 4(The new nightmare)

  • @tekkenforever82 Alone in the dark 1-3 and the 5th one are the best, new nightmare sucked, the new one is great.

  • What about the piano he was supposed to get? :)

  • POLE7654, made a nice work using the subtitles just like the game letters. awesome. and about the ending, it was... well, strange but happy.

  • i remeber watching my dad complete this and when the guy jumped it was so funny

  • ty,waited so long for this...great walkthrough

  • Excellent playthough. This is still one of my fav games, but mine doesn't have voice acting and the music was different. D:

I really enjoyed the voices they added when reading books and notes.

  • madre miaa no tiene años ni naa!!cuando tenia 7 años i juagaba a este jeugo me aceurdo ke me dab mucho miedo i aora pfff vaya mierda xDDD

  • I loved that AWESOME jump he did when he got out of the manor. *jump!* :D

  • Hurray!! I loved this game, i was six years old when i first played it and it was pretty scaring for me!! A terrific music.

  • I used to love fighting games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Fatal Fury...(well, I still do) but when I rented Alone in the Dark for 3DO in 1994 I went nuts!! since then I`ve become a survival horror addict!! Alone in the Dark, SIlent Hill, Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Eternal Darkness are amazing games that I spent hours playing all of them!! today I watched this whole game witch I hope I can play it again on ps3 store or xbox live arcade, looking foward to it. cheerz!

  • Thanks!

  • And now the final question - why did you pick up a poker? What's it for?

  • i just played Interno on ps3 and then finished this one for like 5th time :)

  • So wait, who were the enemies and was there any combat at all?

  • Than you very much for the playthrough, POLE.

  • One of the greatest games ever!!

Thank you from Italy for have posted it!

  • Lol wat!???

  • what is the story of this game

    it looks good

  • That ending scared the shit out of me. Thanks again!

  • That was great - I just completed the game again after watching this...:D

  • amazing!!!!

  • I all ways wanted to know what happend at the end of that game

  • giygas's lair at 0:46

  • I was expecting a better ending but it's ok, this just the BEST AitD game, new or old. Amazing storyline, hard and complex game. Thank you for sharing this!!

  • I remember back when you actually needed a good computer to run this game....I got this on my Ipod touch....this game was so ahead of its time!

  • Is it in the APP store or did you Jailbreak your Ipod?

  • 2:05 HOLY SHIT XD

  • Awsomest walkthrough ever...

  • Here, here!

  • Very nicely done videos. Do you think you could post those death videos that you mentioned in a previous post (for example, what happens if you read one of the dangerous books while not on the pentagram)?

I'm also a little confused. Jeremy killed himself so that Pregzt couldnt enslave him, right? And who was Pregzt anyway, just a pirate that was into occult stuff?

  • wow thatts really scary

  • wait so what happend at the end? was he killed?

  • Nah! ^~

  • If he was killed then there won't be any Alone in the Dark 2 & 3, silly. Ever thought of that? ^_~

  • did you know there different characters!

  • Yes I do. But trust me! Edward Carnby is STILL there!^_~

  • Great work mate

  • You know thinking about it, I doubt Pregzt is actually dead. His body is certainly destroyed but I'm not convinced that would be the death of him so to speak, I guess his soul is still lingering around the mansion or maybe was consumed by cthuhlu?

  • Good job, its the first time ever i saw its ending( maybe after 10 years when i use to play this game). i could never pass through that staircase.

  • The great thing about the game was that the story was solid for an old game, how can one go wrong with Lovecraft's mythos. I never was able to finish this game until a year ago, when I finally made a firm commitment to finish it. At first I thought I got a bad ending (that driver zombie laughing), but now it seems its the only ending. All in all great game, not many come nowadays in which you have to read.

  • he forgot his primary objective, why he was there in the first place, the piano lol

  • WOAATF? 1:40

Dude should try for the olympics

  • the chofer it's very scary xD

  • I remember wanting to play this game after seeing it in an Amiga magazine when I was 8... now I'm 23 and I got the whole game without even having to play it, which I must admit, the older I get the harder it becomes to engage with a game...

    Thanks!

  • Even if you got past the graphics, you'd want to jump off a cliff because of the controls =)

Old games are ... well.. mostly only good in memories :)

  • I see what you mean, but man, I still enjoy Midnight Resistance and It came out of the Desert. Some games never die.... at least those first 30 minutes. That's longer than most modern games last for me.

  • Sad but true

  • AITD isn't all that graphic wise and control wise true, but as an adventure, it's one of the best there is.

  • Thanks so much.

  • Thank you for allowing me to see this great game's ending.

    Two thumbs up !!!!

  • Great Work! I really enjoied it!

  • great ! , i finely know how i can end this game thx verry much , nice playing !

  • skeleton driver?

  • man you ruuuuuuuuuule!!!

  • This was great.... Great spook! As a kid I never got passed the attic, and the creepy music and the wolf-like beings always scared the hell out of me... Watching the entire thing now, I was damn scared... But it was great anyway! Thanks Pole!

  • Thank you for uploading your playthrough of this game from beginning to the end and translating everything from french to english.

  • Yes, POLE7645. You did marvelously, even getting the correct names for the enemies ("Deep One" instead of "fishman" or anything else along those lines). Well done, and thank you.

  • Last comment from me : I really want to thank you for uploading that game which I played when I was 7-8 years old!! Great !!!

  • ha1 new wold symphony.

  • yup Louischou is the game master =)

  • hehe nice

  • Sheesh the ending made me jump!

    Cool though!

  • that ending was fairly mental, i recjkon that skeleton driver is gonna bone the fella

  • hahahaha, That mad me laugh!

  • Thank you! Really great!

  • thank you very much! helped me a lot. just one question. served for the poker?

  • A red herring, if I'm not mistaken. I never found any use for it either.

  • THAAAAANK YOU for those amazing videos.

15 years later, I understand I had to put the talisman and use the fire to kill him..... -_-'

  • The jump, music and skull reminded me of a typical 80's horror movie ending. LOL. Epic win.

Thanks for posting this- it saved me the trouble of trying to get that damn DOSbox to work on my computer. :)

  • Alternate Ending: As soon as you get to the ground floor, go to the kitchen and take the two knives from the cabinet by the table. Go to the front entrance of the house and open the double doors. Upon opening the front doors to reveal an evil spirit if you immediately throw both knives at him, you will kill the spirit and walk out of the house into the dark and it will say 'The End'. Not as cool, but worth it as a fan of the game and survival horror genre.

  • You sure about that? I seem to remember you dying immediately if you tried to leave and there being no time to go through your inventory.

  • Thanks, I really enjoyed it.

  • in the original alone in the dark games, the backgrounds were like painting's, exept for the characters

  • Thanks to POLE7645 ,i've end the game by my self on DOSBox :D .

  • Thak you!merci beaucoup!

  • Thank you for doing this walkthrough. I was stuck in this game for the last 16 years and always wanted to see what happened in the end, thanks to you I can see where I went wrong in the past and what happens beyond where I got stuck. For this I'm grateful. One of the many things I always wanted to know I can now lay to rest.

    CHEERS!

  • Rofl when he does the jump.

    n__n

  • awesome ending

  • what buton u press to run? i just walk!

  • press 2x or 3x key to WALK

  • i think i did manage to complete this eventually!! But for memoreies sake, good to see it all again!! Dont think i have even seen this being played/have played it for about 12/13 yrs!!!!!

  • this game isnt that dark

  • Hell's Kitchen is sooo in New York NOT California! I even looked it up and found nothing

  • Hell's kitchen is the name of the mansion in aitd 2

  • ahhhh I see

  • yeah that is the clue in aitd 1 ^^

  • 1:36 - 1:46 -- Largo from Antonin Dvorak's "The New World Symphony" - That was the last awesome part of the game. The rest of ending was shitty.

  • Is it just me or does the house look alot bigger outside than on the inside? D:

    (P.s., skeleton driver = awesome. xD )

  • time lord science that is

  • man! my brother made to the very end of the game (i was to young for playing this kind of games), but never realised to throw that oil lamp :S

  • Thanks for posting this series! I remember this game from a lifetime ago, when i was just a kid. I never got past the ballroom, and i always wanted to see how the story ended. :D

  • Thanks so much for recording the entire play-through of the game. I played this way back in the 90s and have so many great memories about it. It's been great to watch the whole game again after so long. Truly a classic. I hope people today can realize how ground breaking this game was back then. It was the first "survival horror" game.

  • I'm royally surprised he doesn't rip his pants at 1:41...that's quite a gleeful jump!

  • So the game ended with him doing a strange jump, leaving piano-less (the whole point he went in there for), and just about itemless (apart from a few things he picked up from there), and have some zombie in a taxi come from nowhere and pick him up and drive him away to somewhere.

  • To home?

  • the way he runs and all. kinda reminds me of little big adventure

  • Fin

  • lol

the way he jumped at the end was somehow cute

  • Does your zombie driver mean you're now the master of the house? xD; I'm confused.

  • Thanks for sitting down and translating everything instead of putting my 2 years of high school french to the test. And also what the hell's up with the driver? I get the jumping, I mean after all of that I would do that too, but one of the slave zombies is your driver? That would be awesome, but that's confusing.

  • lol that was awesome, I remember my brothers were always playing this game at my cousins. Thanks! You must have played it a lot to perfect it like that.

  • nice work damm it 2 07 that was scary

  • AWSOME DUDE!!! TY U SO MUCH!! u gonna do alone in the dark 2?!?!?!?!?

  • Thanks so much for all the time and labor you put into this. My old 486 packed it in and took many a good game with it, including this one, so I thought I'd never get to see it again.

I see now there was so much I had over-looked, such as the sword-skull path choice (I'd just muddled through without realizing the significance). Watching this was a weird feeling of combined nostalgia and revelation!

  • I would like a house like Decerto, i dont believe in all the fantasy but that huouse enchanted me since the firs moment that i see it that Big library and all those things...

  • nice work!!

  • so... in the ending, he is trapped with zombies and monsters forever?

  • no, they were all slaves, so they scared people and took everyone's jobs.

  • ohhh :P thanks xD

  • nice graphics btw

  • Can someone answer my question at "Alone in the Dark 3-part9-graveyard"?

  • short game, but gd

  • I knew that driver'd be something creepy/crazy :p Great job on this playthrough. I loved it! And these games I was frightened of... no longer scare me so much :3 On that note, what happens differently if you play as the girl?

  • Yeah, these games no longer are frightening. But in 1991 (or was it 1992) when this first came out it scared the s#*t out of me. I would play this and be looking over my shoulder the whole time. And this was before Gamefaqs and stuff, so playing this blindly was terrifying.

  • do you know what makes me very angry about this. game stores have stopped selling retro games and we old schoolers can't find them anywhere. the fools they could have made a small fortune out of those games. selling at low prices means that more people would buy games which would mean more money am i right?

  • buy online there's probs plenty of retro gamers selling this

  • yes but its the convenience that makes me buy these knid of games.
