Great video, but try not to misuse the word "literally". Literally is supposed to mean that something actually happened. The video is cool enough without the hyperbole.
Would be more accurate to say that the role of both bombers discussed here depended on the weapons they carried. If the B-1 carried ALCM or SRAM, then standoff. B-61 or B-83 bombs, then it would have to fly to the target. The B-1 was designed to penetrate Soviet airspace, slip past whatever PVO/Strany could throw at it, and if need be take out high value hard targets (silos, command bunkers).

@jetMechMA what part of the b-1 that does not, will not or ever fly nukes. we have plenty of other ways to deliver a nuclear package. i am a weapons troop, so if you are wondering what that job is i work the weapon system on the b-1. not eod who think they no somthing about the weapon system when they dont even touch the jet. your an idiot and you know anything about the b-1.
Had a question.. beyond the obvious, like the mountings/wiring on the racks and rotary launchers, and the consent/release switches & panels for the 2 crequired crew members (pilot and OSO, I presume), is there anything like the "hardening" of systems to operate in a nuclear enviroment? (similar to E-4 NEACP/NAOC?) Has to be more than the flash curtains they crew had to pull over the windows. Non-classified stuff, of course... thanks
@Kodos13 I couldn't really tell you to be honest. Since the B1 is no longer nuke capable, we don't really deal with HCP much anymore, if at all. I know that the avionics bays have these "slinky"-like things surrounding the outer edges of their access panels and that some jets still have panels that are placed over the windows in the crew compartment. But beyond that, I honestly don't know as most nuclear-devices on the jet were before my time.
@JetMechMA@BrowningThirty you both obviously have no clue what you are talking about and have never worked the b-1. why dont you both do your research and stop spouting crap that you here from other people (grapevine bullshit). the start treaty was signed july 31 1991 which included the b-1 having its nuclear capability removed from the jet. i have been an escort when the russians do their yearly inspection to make sure the b-1 are not nuclear capable.
@tymorse22: to make sure the b-1 are not nuclear capable.
JM: That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If a B-1 can launch an ALCM, it can launch one with a nuke warhead.....period. The Russians are inspecting to make sure that no nukes are loaded on B-1s or cocked and on the alert pad. They only took aircraft off of alert to make things safer from a quick launch point of view.
@tymorse22: to make sure the b-1 are not nuclear capable.
JM: You mean to tell me that if terrorists plotted and carried out a nuke attack on the US, from the God forsaken mountains of Pakistan, that we are not capable of making a nuclear response? I don't know, I'm asking. It would be the height of madness if that were the case. Which President did that?
@jetmechma You're wrong, I'm afraid. Look it up..the B-1 has not been able to carry nukes for years now because of the B-2. The B-1 could originally carry B61, B83, and ALCMs as well, but now fillsthe conventional role. To have a nuclear bomber you need multiple features, namely a triggering function, safety addons, etc. The reason why I think we should have the Bone nuke-capable again is because it is our fastest bomber. The B-2 is stealthy, but is not supersonic.
@nbarile18: You're wrong, I'm afraid. Look it up..the B-1 has not been able to carry nukes for years now because of the B-2.
JM: While the B-1b fills the conventional role, I think you'll find that the wiring and the cannon plugs are still there on the aircraft. The mounting system in the weapons bay and the bomb racks for the nukes is compatible. I think you are confused. It might not be currently tasked with carrying nukes, but I assure you that the hardware is present on that aircraft.
@nbarile18: You're wrong, I'm afraid. Look it up..the B-1 has not been able to carry nukes for years now because of the B-2.
JM: All they would have to do is remove the dummy panels that cover the spot for the "coded switch" and whatever other panels that are involved in that hideous procedure...plug in said equipment....load up the nukes and put a "Cocked" sign in the windshield. Hell, they designed the aircraft around the ALCM. If the B-1 can launch an ALCM then it can launch a nuke one.
@JetMechMA I'm a little confused about the whole ALCM thing. I thought the B-52s carry that, some nuked and some conventional. The B-1 was designed to carry the B61 or B83 nuclear bombs, I thought? Because the whole idea was low-level penetration and then to drop the Bomb and get away. Or can it carry cruise missiles today? I know that in Afghanistan they're using guided and unguided bombs like 500 pounders.
@nbarile18: The B-1 was designed to carry the B61 or B83 nuclear bombs, I thought?
JM: I joined the AF to work on B-1s. I worked on B-52s...they delivered the first active B-1 to Dyess AFB...via my base Carswell....on the day that I seperated from the AF....literally on the day after I left the base. My understanding and all the info I ever received about the B-1B was that they would be capable of carrying everything a BUFF can carry...and MORE. That's all I know.
@JetMechMA The bottom line is that it would take a long time to restore the B-1 to nuclear capability. Even if all the hardware is there- which I doubt some of it is as they would have removed it with the nuke capability- we would need to redesign our B-1 standby status so that it would be extra secure and be near the B61s and B83s in our arsenal. A few B-2s are on alert usually with the nuclear bombs nearby in a secure location, but as I said they do not have the strike speed of the B-1.
@nbarile18 I don't think it would take as long as you think. As far as the fittings in the weapon bays, those are built to a standard. Any bomb can be loaded in there if it is on the right bomb rack. The wiring for the coded switch would be behind a blank panel or tied off somewhere behind the newer box installed in it's place. It would take too much effort and maybe do damage to remove all that wiring. They usually leave dead wiring in place and cap it off and tie it up out of the way.
@JetMechMA The external pylons are also capable of carrying cruise missiles and all they have covering them is a panel with a bit of sealant. Simply pop them off, connect a few wires and the B1 is nuclear capable again. So yeah, pretty quick and easy.
@nbarile18: The reason why I think we should have the Bone nuke-capable again is because it is our fastest bomber. The B-2 is stealthy, but is not supersonic.
JM: I would completely agree with that statement. You know when they first delivered the B-1 to the AF in '85, they told us it was subsonic do to the inlet re-design being maximized for subsonic flight compared to the B-1A prototypes which were supersonic. Did they modify the engine inlets back to a supersonic configuration?
@JetMechMA The B-1B is the only bomber we have that is optimized for supersonic flight. It has afterburners which is a characteristic of supersonic fighter aircraft, as well as swing wings for supercruise. It is the fastest bomber we have ever built and subsequently has set world records. Truly the B-1 is irreplacable because it fulfills the prompt conventional strike roll. And the B-1's radar cross section is very low- not stealth, but a big plus.
The military is so undisciplined. Too much chatter on that frequency. Too much bull shit. They should take some tips from commercial aviation...where the REAL action is. But they never have in over 60 years. Assholes. They're undisciplined and unsafe. Always have been.
@JetMechMA Are fucking retarded? Unsafe and undisciplined? When are TO's ever used in commercial airlines? How often do you go through a total inspection? Why do you have passengers on the plane during a refueling? Why do none of your guys have PPE on when servicing? Where are your QA inspectors during all of this? Do you even know what the military does on the line? Obviously not, or you'de be saying the opposite. This is a montage, of course it'll seem like a lot of chatter, it's not real-time
@BrowningThirty: Airman, Airman, Airman.....oh so young Airman. EVERYTHING an aircraft mechanic does....on ANY aircraft....is a technical order. No work can be done on an aircraft unless it is documented and in acccordance with factory and FAA approved reference material, Class 1 documents.
@BrowningThirty: Why do you have passengers on the plane during a refueling? Why do none of your guys have PPE on when servicing?
JM: Because it has proven safe and effective on passenger aircraft in airline use....that's why. I don't know where you get that we don't wear personal protective equipment during servicing. If you witnessed a civilian mechanic without it, then you saw them committing a DSV...Deliberate Safety Violation.
@BrowningThirty: Where are your QA inspectors during all of this?
JM: Unlicenced Military mechanics are relatively young and inexperienced...that's why you need QA inspectors doing a more or less 100% follow-up. FAA licenced Airframe and Powerplant mechanics are man enough to do most of the work unsupervised...however if you knew what you are talking about, certain tasks on civilian planes have RII items. Required Inspection Items.
JM: Civilian airliners can only be released (maintenance release) by an FAA licensed A&P mech with IA Inspection Authorization. Let me tell you something right now..civilian airliners are utilized 10...11 hours a day or longer...EVERY day, on schedule. Civilian airliner operations is in another UNIVERSE compared to military aircraft which proabably don't even fly ever day. Mine didn't. Military flight operations PALE in comparison to the scope and scale of airline operations.
@BrowningThirty: Do you even know what the military does on the line?
JM: I was a B-52 Crew Chief on D models and H models. I was there when we retired the D models to the bone yard and to bases around the world for display. I've seen both worlds and I can tell you that the pace and relentless flight schedules of airliners is thousands of times more than military aircraft. There have been years go by without a fatal airline accident. What does that say about our procedures? It says it all.
I love the Bone! We should really make it nuclear capable again and we'd have a pretty formidable global strike capability. Why we continue to prop up the B-52s is beyond me, even if they can carry more ordinance. I say we refit the B-1B so it can take on the ALCM role and carry both conventional and nuclear roles. We should have 10 on nuclear standby and the rest devoted to the wars in the middle east. B-1s and B-2s are our best bombing assets; save some money by retiring some B-52s!
@nbarile18: We should really make it nuclear capable again
JM: You're joking, right? The B-1 was designed around the ALCM. I'm quite sure that no matter how they are configured at the present moment, that the cannon plugs for the coded switch are right there behind a dummy panel or whatever, and the mount points for the ALCM launcher in the weapons bay could be utilized at any time. Where do you get this idea that the B-1s aren't nuke capable?

@anthony8151 Iraq wasn't defenseless, look up cluster bombs & Iranian weapons on google images, you'll see they violated their weapon ban,and they even killed 2 million people who could not fight for themselves, and they never had a chance against the nerve gas. I'm not saying I support the ideology of war,but isn't that wrong too?
@anthony8151 Fuck your own country? I'm Canadian living in USA,and the Canadian Forces has no Nukes,or bombers, through. War sucks for all that is involved with it,including the Liberals. The Iraq War had many civilian casualties, but the Afghan War,there is a lot of Humanitarian aid involving the U.S,they are donating 1,000 US to each family, and thats a lot of money for them. No matter what America's purpose is in Afghanistan, the Taliban kill many innocents on purpose, and in foreign nations.
Bombers are useless,America is more for oppressive firepower, than defensive weapons to protect herself. Learn from Russia. Make tons of Nukes, and tanks + defensive weapons like SAMs.
Great video, great editing. Do the B1 crews still practice low level, high speed penetrations into enemy airspace or is it all relegated to dropping JDAM's on the Taliban these days?
A 12-hour mission costs $698,988, more than double the operational cost of an F-15 (which has two engines, half as many as the B-1).
And for each hour of flying time, the B-1 requires an average of 47.4 man-hours of maintenance. The Bone "is a maintenance person's nightmare,'' said Air Force Tech....a B-1 maintainer at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. "It's the hardest airplane to maintain in the entire United States Air Force!''
@HugoBossUnzipped The F-15 doesn't have a 5-7000 miles unrefueled range nor can it carry 84 x 500 lbs or 24 x 2000lbs bombs, all internally. The crew can't lay down during long flights in the F-15. The B-1 can blanket the radar or burn out antennas, even fry avionics. Your comparing apples to oranges. Active duty AirForce can't work on aircraft anymore. When the tech reaches E-5, he shoved into supervisory and further away from maintenance. The ANG tech has an average experience of 25 yrs.
LOL, me learn some geography? is "america" not one continent? plenty of countries would include countries within europe, asia and oceania.. its a good way to avoid the real issue tho, which is the trillion dollar bombs which help nobody.........
@vedgardo thats a really retarded statement, maybe if you strain your puny american brain you will see why... plenty of countries donate far more money and time to struggling nations than america. what they dont do, is spend trillions on new ways to fuck the planet up. last i checked you cant eat bombs, so have fun with that when america is the starving nation....
@toadecks..well i ask you to name a country that does and you come up with plenty of nations. So in your response there should be a list of countries not a dumb, retarded answer you dumb fuck, piece of shit. By the way when you say America you extend to the 2 continents, south and north. Learn some basic geography before you post any shit, better yet educate yourself and yes I'm American, Central American, you must be the offspring of some fuck up incest to be this dumb.
@toadecks You might want to check your facts. Japan and the US lead in $ ammounts of aid. According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the US gave between $6 and $15 billion in foreign aid in the period between 1995 and 1999. In absolute terms, Japan gives more than the US, between $9 and $15 billion in the same period. However, when looked at in terms of percentage of GDP, the US is 22nd. Denmark recently led with 1.01% of their GDP. Yes, that's just 1.01%.
@contrail25 fairynuff, but what percentage of GDP does america spend on its military budget.... 5%? 8%? (that was my point.. for every dollar for food for starving children, 1000 bucks on bombs - its kinda mean) here in NZ its less than 0.025 % :) :) which is absolutely pathetic given that we have to look after the pacific alongside australia (we are letting our allies down over here having such a poorly funded military, even though they rank among the best professional armies in the world)
The name of this song is actually Cursum Perficio, The B-1 bomber was the nastiest bomber in its days delivering such a large payload and capable of carring multiple warheads, This Wonder War Machine is still feared today by many enemies. I would love to fly in one but it'sd days are #ed with newer and more efficient bombers. Like some say "drive it till the wheels fall off" is what the Military plans to do with this Machine.
@LimboBeaver yes, the B-1 Bomber, born and created in America. If everyone thought like you, then who invented the wheel? Or Temples? Or modern day sewer systems would be a great example, sure the Romans came up with the Idea, but we perfected it, sorta =p. SO yes the Germans created it, but we perfected it, and we did make the first airplane so.. =p
@kingneptune 117: Good job. 1. Theories can't fly. 2. Gliders aren't very useful for air travel or freight movement. 3. Doesn't matter what country they came from. The aircraft is a human creation. Enjoy them.
LET FREEDOM RING AND RING LOUD, ITS WHAT PEOPLE GO TO WAR FOR SO THAT WE AS AMERICANS AND THOSE IN FRIENDLY COUNTRIES CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT BEING HARMED......
if it wasnt for the germans, americans wouldnt have had the apollo, and all the other space programs, i mean the germans had a flying wing, you cant say the americans didnt copy that in some way
YOU HAVE THAT ASS BACKWARDS THERE FARTKNOCKER, ALL OUR WEAPONS ALL YOUR WEAPONS, ALL OF CHINAS COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY , EVERYTHING ON THIS PLANET THAT BUTT WADS LIKE YOU ENJOY, WAS INVENTED,PATENTED AND BUILT IN THE UNITED FUCKING STATES OF AMERICAN FIRST, AND DONT YOU FORGET IT YOU FUCKING YOU COCK SUCKING DWEEB!
@34D2234 You big nonce, leave a cheap comment on my profile and then block me so I can't leave you a sweet reply, climb back under the rock you came from, you are a blot on the gene-pool landscape.
really, so they didnt read the works of Sir George Cayley, or samuel langley to get there ideas? maybe you should do a bit of research first, dont be a prick becuase you have to buy two seats on a airline ya fat fuck
@kingneptune117 actually no, Richard Pearce from NEW ZEALAND, INVENTED AND FLEW the first flying machine, while the wright brothers were still arguing about where to put the wings... get your facts right..
As a former B1-B crew chief out of McConnell AFB 384th OMS I have to say thanks. Good to see the ole girl is still flying like a fighter. Thanks Sgt. S Kelly ac- 86-0134
@HEATER1BLACKBIRD though it does suck to see that Specs get no credit even though we fix EVERYTHING on the jet. Crew Chiefs literally just sit out there and sit down by the main gears and jack off. When a tire pops, they change it. Oh, and when a window needs washed, they do that too. Specs work to give crew chiefs medals for 'their' jets doing good. That seems to sum it up.
From head on, this thing reminds me of my pet Greyhound. Truly an incredibly graceful aircraft. We're losing all of our old cold war toys these days. SR-71s, Concordes, F-14s, now Space Shuttles. Hang on to these babies and treasure them. They are among the last really cool things in the sky!
@TheGuilherme1999 No it doesnt. Current engine for the B-1 is the F-101. There are plans to fit the 119 into the B-1, but it is not ready for full roll out.
Im a crew chief at ellsworth on this jet and this is pretty good footage. best video ive seen in a while. but no matter what tha b1 is a a handful! nightmare to work on compared to all the other jets we have in the airforce
They didn't drop nukes "over everything, LITTERALLY !! ". New Zealand is still there ! And Botswana. And my neighbour Mrs Sampson's Virgin-in-a-bathtub.
Awsome video, former f-111 crewcheif! Irony; swapped orders with guy after tech school he wanted stateside-original orders were for B-1 took his orders for RAF lakenheath!

JetMechMA 7 months ago

The B-2 is stealthy, but is not supersonic.
nbarile18 8 months ago
@nbarile18: You're wrong, I'm afraid. Look it up..the B-1 has not been able to carry nukes for years now because of the B-2.
JM: While the B-1b fills the conventional role, I think you'll find that the wiring and the cannon plugs are still there on the aircraft. The mounting system in the weapons bay and the bomb racks for the nukes is compatible. I think you are confused. It might not be currently tasked with carrying nukes, but I assure you that the hardware is present on that aircraft.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@nbarile18: You're wrong, I'm afraid. Look it up..the B-1 has not been able to carry nukes for years now because of the B-2.
JM: All they would have to do is remove the dummy panels that cover the spot for the "coded switch" and whatever other panels that are involved in that hideous procedure...plug in said equipment....load up the nukes and put a "Cocked" sign in the windshield. Hell, they designed the aircraft around the ALCM. If the B-1 can launch an ALCM then it can launch a nuke one.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@JetMechMA I'm a little confused about the whole ALCM thing. I thought the B-52s carry that, some nuked and some conventional. The B-1 was designed to carry the B61 or B83 nuclear bombs, I thought? Because the whole idea was low-level penetration and then to drop the Bomb and get away. Or can it carry cruise missiles today? I know that in Afghanistan they're using guided and unguided bombs like 500 pounders.
nbarile18 7 months ago
@nbarile18: The B-1 was designed to carry the B61 or B83 nuclear bombs, I thought?
JM: I joined the AF to work on B-1s. I worked on B-52s...they delivered the first active B-1 to Dyess AFB...via my base Carswell....on the day that I seperated from the AF....literally on the day after I left the base. My understanding and all the info I ever received about the B-1B was that they would be capable of carrying everything a BUFF can carry...and MORE. That's all I know.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@JetMechMA The bottom line is that it would take a long time to restore the B-1 to nuclear capability. Even if all the hardware is there- which I doubt some of it is as they would have removed it with the nuke capability- we would need to redesign our B-1 standby status so that it would be extra secure and be near the B61s and B83s in our arsenal. A few B-2s are on alert usually with the nuclear bombs nearby in a secure location, but as I said they do not have the strike speed of the B-1.
nbarile18 7 months ago
@nbarile18 I don't think it would take as long as you think. As far as the fittings in the weapon bays, those are built to a standard. Any bomb can be loaded in there if it is on the right bomb rack. The wiring for the coded switch would be behind a blank panel or tied off somewhere behind the newer box installed in it's place. It would take too much effort and maybe do damage to remove all that wiring. They usually leave dead wiring in place and cap it off and tie it up out of the way.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@JetMechMA The external pylons are also capable of carrying cruise missiles and all they have covering them is a panel with a bit of sealant. Simply pop them off, connect a few wires and the B1 is nuclear capable again. So yeah, pretty quick and easy.
BrowningThirty 7 months ago
@nbarile18: The reason why I think we should have the Bone nuke-capable again is because it is our fastest bomber. The B-2 is stealthy, but is not supersonic.
JM: I would completely agree with that statement. You know when they first delivered the B-1 to the AF in '85, they told us it was subsonic do to the inlet re-design being maximized for subsonic flight compared to the B-1A prototypes which were supersonic. Did they modify the engine inlets back to a supersonic configuration?
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@JetMechMA The B-1B is the only bomber we have that is optimized for supersonic flight. It has afterburners which is a characteristic of supersonic fighter aircraft, as well as swing wings for supercruise. It is the fastest bomber we have ever built and subsequently has set world records. Truly the B-1 is irreplacable because it fulfills the prompt conventional strike roll. And the B-1's radar cross section is very low- not stealth, but a big plus.
nbarile18 7 months ago
The military is so undisciplined. Too much chatter on that frequency. Too much bull shit. They should take some tips from commercial aviation...where the REAL action is. But they never have in over 60 years. Assholes. They're undisciplined and unsafe. Always have been.
JetMechMA 8 months ago
@JetMechMA Are fucking retarded? Unsafe and undisciplined? When are TO's ever used in commercial airlines? How often do you go through a total inspection? Why do you have passengers on the plane during a refueling? Why do none of your guys have PPE on when servicing? Where are your QA inspectors during all of this? Do you even know what the military does on the line? Obviously not, or you'de be saying the opposite. This is a montage, of course it'll seem like a lot of chatter, it's not real-time
BrowningThirty 8 months ago
@BrowningThirty: Airman, Airman, Airman.....oh so young Airman. EVERYTHING an aircraft mechanic does....on ANY aircraft....is a technical order. No work can be done on an aircraft unless it is documented and in acccordance with factory and FAA approved reference material, Class 1 documents.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@BrowningThirty: Why do you have passengers on the plane during a refueling? Why do none of your guys have PPE on when servicing?
JM: Because it has proven safe and effective on passenger aircraft in airline use....that's why. I don't know where you get that we don't wear personal protective equipment during servicing. If you witnessed a civilian mechanic without it, then you saw them committing a DSV...Deliberate Safety Violation.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@BrowningThirty: Where are your QA inspectors during all of this?
JM: Unlicenced Military mechanics are relatively young and inexperienced...that's why you need QA inspectors doing a more or less 100% follow-up. FAA licenced Airframe and Powerplant mechanics are man enough to do most of the work unsupervised...however if you knew what you are talking about, certain tasks on civilian planes have RII items. Required Inspection Items.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@BrowningThirty
JetMechMA 7 months ago
@BrowningThirty: Do you even know what the military does on the line?
JM: I was a B-52 Crew Chief on D models and H models. I was there when we retired the D models to the bone yard and to bases around the world for display. I've seen both worlds and I can tell you that the pace and relentless flight schedules of airliners is thousands of times more than military aircraft. There have been years go by without a fatal airline accident. What does that say about our procedures? It says it all.
JetMechMA 7 months ago
I love the Bone! We should really make it nuclear capable again and we'd have a pretty formidable global strike capability. Why we continue to prop up the B-52s is beyond me, even if they can carry more ordinance. I say we refit the B-1B so it can take on the ALCM role and carry both conventional and nuclear roles. We should have 10 on nuclear standby and the rest devoted to the wars in the middle east. B-1s and B-2s are our best bombing assets; save some money by retiring some B-52s!
nbarile18 8 months ago
@nbarile18: We should really make it nuclear capable again
JM: You're joking, right? The B-1 was designed around the ALCM. I'm quite sure that no matter how they are configured at the present moment, that the cannon plugs for the coded switch are right there behind a dummy panel or whatever, and the mount points for the ALCM launcher in the weapons bay could be utilized at any time. Where do you get this idea that the B-1s aren't nuke capable?

@anthony8151 Fuck your own country? I'm Canadian living in USA,and the Canadian Forces has no Nukes,or bombers, through. War sucks for all that is involved with it,including the Liberals. The Iraq War had many civilian casualties, but the Afghan War,there is a lot of Humanitarian aid involving the U.S,they are donating 1,000 US to each family, and thats a lot of money for them. No matter what America's purpose is in Afghanistan, the Taliban kill many innocents on purpose, and in foreign nations.

HugoBossUnzipped 1 year ago
@HugoBossUnzipped The F-15 doesn't have a 5-7000 miles unrefueled range nor can it carry 84 x 500 lbs or 24 x 2000lbs bombs, all internally. The crew can't lay down during long flights in the F-15. The B-1 can blanket the radar or burn out antennas, even fry avionics. Your comparing apples to oranges. Active duty AirForce can't work on aircraft anymore. When the tech reaches E-5, he shoved into supervisory and further away from maintenance. The ANG tech has an average experience of 25 yrs.

vedgardo 1 year ago
@toadecks You might want to check your facts. Japan and the US lead in $ ammounts of aid. According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the US gave between $6 and $15 billion in foreign aid in the period between 1995 and 1999. In absolute terms, Japan gives more than the US, between $9 and $15 billion in the same period. However, when looked at in terms of percentage of GDP, the US is 22nd. Denmark recently led with 1.01% of their GDP. Yes, that's just 1.01%.
contrail25 1 year ago
@contrail25 fairynuff, but what percentage of GDP does america spend on its military budget.... 5%? 8%? (that was my point.. for every dollar for food for starving children, 1000 bucks on bombs - its kinda mean) here in NZ its less than 0.025 % :) :) which is absolutely pathetic given that we have to look after the pacific alongside australia (we are letting our allies down over here having such a poorly funded military, even though they rank among the best professional armies in the world)
