I'm not real thrilled with this version of the song. I never really liked powerful trumpets in a song. I do give credit for Calvert playing this song in his own style. This song just isn't meant for trumpet though.

Agree that this song is a bit soft for trumpets, but I think even Mr Schubert himself wouldn't have known a trumpet version could bring such a new feeling to this composition.

I play violin myself, but I am getting down to this!

P.S. Pity that there's no studio-recorded saxophone version around. I'd be happy to hear one.

One of my favorite artists with trumpet is Eddie Calvert, there are indeed glimmers of his style here, I'm longing to find out if he ever played "ill Silensio" be grateful should you be able to direct me, this is awesome by the way, thoroughly enjoying it. Thank you for sharing it.

This is from a recording of famous classical/romantic/etc...arias recorded in Rome many years ago. The trumpeter is Nini Rosso. I knew him personally and can assure you that it is indeed him.
