If you look closely- those aren't misses nor are they arrows to hit. In Stepmania, it throws in 'BOMBS' which you can't hit or it actually counts as a Miss. By avoiding them, you get the combo to keep going. I made the same mistake a few times, so no harm =3.

the game is stepmania, and you can get it at stepmania(dot)com. but it doesnt come with any songs or step charts, its up to you to find those yourself. i reccomend the FFR simfile database, theres plenty to keep you busy there.

It might look like it... but it's not simply because you have 1 finger per arrow instead of 4 fingers for 5 frets... you don't have to strum... and if you miss you don't have to restrum (i.e. hopo's). You aren't pressured to get a 'combo'... score is based off how well you hit each note individually.
