I like the graphics, but what I dont like is the changes to the piorities of certain moves. Its just too easy to get cheap throws. If somebody makes a mistake you cant be certain to to take advange cos of the throw pirority which is rediculas, also they have shortened guiles range, balrog is now deadly, its easy to get cheap wins with balrog since his moves go through sweeps and projectiles.
King of Fighters 12 'IS' the way SF4 should have gone!!!! Fact is, SF4 came out in Japan awhile back; the fans complain! They said it did not feel like a Street Fighter game. Thats why they remade it for the consoles and perhaps an Arcade rivision.

Actually Street Fighter EX wasn't developed by Capcom. It was some other developer. Capcom simply allowed them to develop the game. That's why none of those characters from the EX universe (D. Dark, Skullorama) are not officially recognized as part of the SF universe by Capcom.
Yah, it was Arika. The head game designer for SF2 and DarkSalkers started his own company and Capcom threw some work his way. However, SF4 seems to have the exact same mechanics as SFEX, along with being 3D. And that was in the 90s. I can't see how this is a step forward for Capcom.

Man I grew playing SF. It changed my whole look at video games. It's not about expensive graphics or technology. It's about clever gameplay, and that what makes Street Fighter so legendary. Guilty Gears is not better than SF. Only game comes close to SF is King Of Fighters and Bushido Blade.

SSF2T is still among the top Tournament fighters on the tournie scene. The reason, it is the deepest and most balanced fighter ever. Players are still finding new tricks in the original to this day, and the tier and metagame changes constantly. It is a new game every few months.
They are redoing it because of that. They are doing it as arcade perfect, and a second mode with gameplay updated by some of the top tournie players.

Sure, skepticism is existent in Street Fighter IV, but what about the other franchises Capcom is succeeding in, such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry?

The last version of hyperfighter looked kinda bad on my TV. Everything you want them to do to SF1 have already been done with the Alpha series mind u. Street Fighter 4 will again establish the franchise as a solid fighter.

If they used Udon and the likes to make all new 2d graphics for SF4 we would have been in heaven.
When you talk about other modes and changes to play. A good example of that was in Alpha 3 how you could play 2 on 1 or even 2 on 2 in the same screen.
This is a great way to introduce it to a newer audience. I don't think anyone who has played/owned that game should bother, unless you don't own it anymore. I agree that Street Fighter 1 needs to be redone tho :-) On Xbox Live, Wii Virtual Console, That Sony online system, whatever they call it will be perfect platforms for these remakes. I am one of those people who likes the old SF that much that this game excites me. Its like being a mad Kylie fan, you can get a kick out of remixes of the same songs that casual Kylie fans will not be interesting in at all. This SF remix is aimed at the hardcore fan like myself.

At the moment on the Wii Shop they only sell old console games. When the Wii Shop starts selling original Wii Ware games then maybe Super Street Fighter 2 HD will appear. However I doubt it as the Wii has no HD output and the whole game is being sold on this. There is a PS3 version however for the PS store.

Agree w/ SF1 remake:
(1. All characters playable
(2. New characters w/ atleast 1 female
(3. Special moves for each character
(4. Alpha mechanics system, w/o block-crush
(5. Hidden characters (Akuma,Dan,Gouken)
Also, we already had an SF4. It was called Street Fighter EX.

Actually Street Fighter EX wasn't developed by Capcom. It was some other developer. Capcom simply allowed them to develop the game. That's why none of those characters from the EX universe (D. Dark, Skullorama) are not officially recognized as part of the SF universe by Capcom.

Yah, it was Arika. The head game designer for SF2 and DarkSalkers started his own company and Capcom threw some work his way. However, SF4 seems to have the exact same mechanics as SFEX, along with being 3D. And that was in the 90s. I can't see how this is a step forward for Capcom.

There is some massive truth in this review!!! I don't really dislike the attempt at putting SF in a 3D costume, it's just that it looks like some Mario Smash Bros. for PS2. Either keep it 2D cartoon like or really get into realistic, detailed graphics. Imagine Blanka in today's standard graphics with every hair shown, crouching through the brazilian jungle while raindrops fall through the roof of leefs, which darkens the scene and put it in some kind of a twilight. I have to agree I mean I bought Fighting Evolution because I thought that they finally changed the characters of the Streetfighter series right. Man I got that shit home and I fucking swear I wanna to fly to Capcom and piss on every project they were making at the time. You think they would have learned from their earlier mistakes. Evolution didn't even have any of the characters worth playing. Most of them were standing in the damn background looking stupid. Capcom is losing it fast. Period.

as long as people keep buying it, capcom will keep releasing it. so quit bitching, who cares if they even completely DESTROY Sf2 with this game (which they won't) - you don't have to play it if you don't want to, so why does it even affect you. They're working on SF4 and other games as well so it's not like they are using all of their resources on SS2 hd remix. not at all.

Excellent commentary. I wish you were able to help me out with my history of SF documentary. I just have to say that I will buy street fighter in as many different variations as Capcom will put out. Doing that allows them to continue to recreate the series. Although I'm sure they had plenty of money to begin with. Great job altogether though.

2D wish list...
1. More specials. I want to K.O. someone with a different super/special/desperation move in at least 12 different ways.
2. More interaction between characters IE King of Fighter intros (Kyo vs Iori)
3. More dramatic pauses mid round.
4. More zoom in during supers/specials/etc (Street Fighter 3)
5. Better intros to the game. (KOF 98 still ranks at the top)
6. More intricate moves (Hanzo's super from Samurai Shodown 64 2...That was the baddest super I've seen yet)

Man I grew playing SF. It changed my whole look at video games. It's not about expensive graphics or technology. It's about clever gameplay, and that what makes Street Fighter so legendary. Guilty Gears is not better than SF. Only game comes close to SF is King Of Fighters and Bushido Blade.

SSF2T is still among the top Tournament fighters on the tournie scene. The reason, it is the deepest and most balanced fighter ever. Players are still finding new tricks in the original to this day, and the tier and metagame changes constantly. It is a new game every few months.
They are redoing it because of that. They are doing it as arcade perfect, and a second mode with gameplay updated by some of the top tournie players.

Shut it! While I agree it's ridiculous to release another update to a game for probably the 10th time, it doesn't mean Capcom is pathetic in any way. Sure, skepticism is existent in Street Fighter IV, but what about the other franchises Capcom is succeeding in, such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry?

my only disagreement is when you say they should use Udon to revamp.
If they used Udon and the likes to make all new 2d graphics for SF4 we would have been in heaven.
When you talk about other modes and changes to play. A good example of that was in Alpha 3 how you could play 2 on 1 or even 2 on 2 in the same screen.

This is a great way to introduce it to a newer audience. I don't think anyone who has played/owned that game should bother, unless you don't own it anymore. I agree that Street Fighter 1 needs to be redone tho :-) On Xbox Live, Wii Virtual Console, That Sony online system, whatever they call it will be perfect platforms for these remakes. Fatal Fury 1 and 2!!! hahaaha! I agree! I really don't care about the story lines for these games anymore. :-p

At the moment on the Wii Shop they only sell old console games. When the Wii Shop starts selling original Wii Ware games then maybe Super Street Fighter 2 HD will appear. However I doubt it as the Wii has no HD output and the whole game is being sold on this. There is a PS3 version however for the PS store.
