If Luffy just went to Marineford without stopping at Impel Down, I reckon it would be more dangerous there by the fact they gotta wait for few hours before Whitebeard invades the Plaza and Navy HQ has a shit ton more people than Impel Down. Luffy went to Impel down thinking he could safe his brother before he was sent to Navy HQ which is much better than going to Marineford to fight the 3 ADMIRALS! That just what I think though
