  • I'm curious if this is built to a ratio of 1:11 or 1:12? Very nice, thank you.

  • @paullubliner The ratio is 1:11.3

  • Looks like alot of fun :)

  • Grande!

  • how much are you selling it for? :)

  • What is your job? Like you would have needed experience to know how to build it and design it?

  • @Jasey1258 My job was Electronic Engineering (no mechanics!), now I'm retired. For the full story of my Big Boy look at my website ferroviefelettane.it

  • @albertocelot I can't read it coz its not in English, Did you have to go to a factory to bend and make the metal or did you do it yourself with machines of your know? Coz i love all sorts of model trains and i was wondering what sort of job would help me witht that, i love cad and maths so its in my area of work to

  • thats the best 5"bigboy about good on you mate

  • Complimenti, Fantastica!!!!

  • The Union Pacific Museum for the 150 anniversary of the company has ordered from the company S.J. Models a replica of the Big Boy in 1:16, smaller and not live steam.

The Display will be built from Proto-models of Torino

    proto-models.eu/2011/12/19/tre-giorni-con-mr-lee/

  • I could sell it to a museum........

  • This piece of art must be put into a trains museum, with written: Built By Alberto Celot.

Sell it will be a crime.

  • I'm curious,,,, what does something like that cost including man hours to build it???? That's not your typical Bowser HO scale kit..............

  • Utterly fantastic.

  • bellissimo bellissimo.

pottete vedere il mio treni con youtube

    Gracie

  • She is beautiful!!!

  • Very well done, please count me as a new subscriber! Rich

  • how much did that engine cost?

  • I love the questions. Live Steam has been so underground for so many decades and with YouTube everybody wants in on this hobby. I can't blame anybody because model trains are a kick in the butt especially ones you can ride.

  • r u on wellfare...?

  • is that home made or bought if it is bought i want one if it is home made than can you make me one

  • how much did this cost to make?

  • As a machininst, you have my respect.

  • Write me into your will, please.

  • @PRR5406

    What do you mean?

  • @albertocelot I mean, I will never be able to afford such an elegant locomotive. You're a lucky, smart, and creative man.

  • @PRR5406 Thank you, my English is not so good!

  • what plans did you use

  • @lewis9968

I made my own plans in 3D CAD starting from the original drawings

  • @albertocelot how much actual horsepower?

  • @TheRealZUIKAKU

    I have no idea...........

  • @albertocelot 6290 HP

  • Beautiful,I'm learning my metals to become a custom knife maker but this talent is a whole other level, simply brilliant, good luck with this project and God bless. The grand kids must bug you a constant to ride.

  • This setup, both the loco and the layout are awesome! Bravo to you sir!

  • is this a kit or do u have to make all the parts urself

  • Hank Hill would be proud.

  • She's a beautiful job.!!!

  • Excuse my type erorr

  • You Sir are a master craftsman no doubt, That locomotive is priceless in my oppion, i would put your tallents and skill way beond a seist watch maker.

  • that is a work of Art!!!! congratulations sir

  • That is an outstanding piece of work! Fantastic!!!!! Thanks for sharing with us.

  • You should pull some more cars it will look cool. You should also build a triplex or a challenger

  • That track looks well run-in. I'm assuming this isn't your first locomotive. What else do you have that you aren't sharing with us?

    This one is a beauty.

  • What a truely amazing piece of work. WOW The skill, craftsmanship, time & patience to scratch build this just blows my mind! Kudo's on a 10star vid as well. Love the track plan of you layout.

Looking forward to seeing further progress on the steam crane, keep up the great work!

  • not to be rude but i think you need to get a better whistle.

  • so where do u keep the engines at night or in storms

  • how much did just that engine cost?????

  • @coryharvey3000

I made it, but I have no idea, make me an offer!

  • @albertocelot not lookin to buy... just want to knoe the cost

  • @albertocelot Must be almost priceless. We used to have a miniture railroad near where I live, the loco's were about twice the gauge of yours but they had a live steam Bigboy there. That lcoo alone made somewhere in the region of a million GBP's when all of the RR and its rolling stock was sold off to make room for holiday lets / apartments.

  • @albertocelot id pay 10000 for that if your willing to sell it , some one said to me a live steam bib boy wouldn't work cos its difficult to get enough coal or oil into the back of the firebox but obviously it dose

  • @albertocelot- 500 bucks?

  • if that's your back garden railway then your one of the luckiest guys in the word

  • you made this wow you got skills have you worked for any railroads in the past for you to want to get into something like this that is cool what you sould make in a N&W j class #611 now thats a nice streamer the n&w j class is my all time fav loco i still cant beliveyou made the whole thing thumbs up 5 stars

  • what is it's fuel source?

  • LPG gas (propane)

  • Thank you for your kind words. Now I'm building a 1" scale 5" gauge Bucyrus Erie 250 Ton railway steam crane. You can look at my website (you can find it in my profile) at the page "In costruzione"

  • I had the luck to see this amazing loco in Karlsruhe, January 2011. I am deeply impressed by the craftmanship. Congratulations!

Now a question: What are you constructing after this jewel? It must be difficult to find a new challenge after this?

    Kind regards from Denmark

  • That;s a nice little Big Boy you got there lol the only problem is a Hancock 3 chime whistle would almost be just as big as the loco itself XD

  • but there is a very good reason that only models are operating.and it is bigboys are just to enormous to operate practically sure on a one mile straight track that might work but come on that would be as much torture to a big boy as sitting in a park.

  • @atsf7809 The union pacific chalenge(2-6-6-2), a little bit smaller of big boy (4-8-8-4) is still in working condiction well restored by ex rail men. Yo can see some recent video of his trips.

Put again in work condictions a big boy is possible. You must have millions dollars. Steam it for a trip you must buy 30 tons of coke.....

  • All i can say is WOWWWWW.... Wish i had that !!! nice setup and great video... keep up the good work...

  • to bad we dont have a running life size one they are all static pieces in museums now

  • Very impressive! Beautiful locomotive!!!

  • brilliant!!

  • Where do you guys get these engines? how much do they weigh and cost?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow!!!

  • jump off XD

  • how did you make everything? do you own a steel mill?

it would be fancy if you could make a small steel mill and make small trains...but that would be hard or impossible

  • Incredible model of an incredible locomotive

  • Now that's an amazing piece of engineering! You've realy built a fanatastic machine.

However, it caught my attention that the two driver sets never remain synchonised. At 4:25, the rear driver set can even be seen standing still, while the locomotive is moving.

How come those two driver sets move at different speeds?

  • The loco was being run-in and the circuit isn't well levelled, so due to the different frictions the two sets of driving wheels can slip or even stall in some moments.

It needs to run for some time to "stretch the wheels"

  • @Dappdude

He's probably got the (steam?) brake on the back unit, and no brake on the front unit? Hence the drivers on the rear unit locking up as he came to a stop, I'd guess.

  • @Dappdude This is actually a "two in one" loco. The wheel sets are 4-8-8-4. Two sets of independent engines in this locomotive on the two sets of 8-8 wheels. Look at the first start of the clip, the steam from the cylinders come from both the front end and at about in the middle of the locomotive from the second set of cylinders. This is one Masterpiece of a replica, very well done!!

  • how many people can it pull mate?

  • I don't know, I never tried

  • haveu ever musured its top speed ?

  • no, because it could be very dangerous!

  • o ok

  • @albertocelot cant you tell by the sound if its going to explode?

anyhow what does it use to run? and how do you start it,? witha match stick or with a sophisticated technique?

  • Dear Sir please view my channel as I know of another 5 inch gauge Big Boy infact it is the one at my own railway club. It is great to see another engine of this type in operation

  • Dear Sir, I am a railway enthusiast and I also have interest in rail modelling and live steam locos. I would love to see your locomotive, given the chance. Are you a member of any live steamers society?

  • No, mine is a private circuit

  • WOW!!! i visited your website. the building of the Bigboy was very impressive. you got to really know your stuff to take on a build like this. 5 stars. but you deserve 10.

  • Had to cost a fortune.

  • HOW MUCH IT COST?

  • Sir, You are a genius

  • Very impressive model! Now it's finished what is your next project?

  • Now I'm working on a Bucyrus Erie 250 Ton Steam Railway Crane in 5" gauge.

  • Are you a dip shit its MEANT TO RIDE!

  • @DickBigs this is not a toy, this is a fully operational steam locomotive in 5 inch gauge, and in order to drive it u sit on the seat on the tender, it is proplily so heavy u cant lift it up with your bare hands with only one person

  • That is awesome! Thanks for taking the time to share the sights and sounds with us. Nothing cooler than a operating Big Boy that size. :)

  • RELY COOL ALTHO I PERFER 7.5

  • Dear Alberto,

I visited your page from time to time following the building of this machine. Congratulations for the first runs, you did a very good job!

    Kind Regards,

    Csaba

  • Thank you!

  • the UP bigboy, it's a beauty.

    vila la albertocelot.

    5 stars

  • nice

  • Hi Steve,

yes, they are roses. The filming was made by Rina.

All the best to you, Dianne and Toni

    Alberto

  • Hi Alberto, Toni, Dianne, and I love that scene where you go through the flowered tunnel. Are those roses? Very family oriented video! Uncommon today. So we are thankful for the video. Did Lucio do the filming?

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • Thank you Steve, too good of you!! Alberto

  • Oops! I forgot to rate the video! It is a 10 star! But there are only 5 stars to choose from! I love the sound of the Big Boy's whistle!

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  • Dear Alberto! Wow! This is a historic event! The BIG BOY is alive and well again! This is the first run since July 1961! Bravo! It is certainly a beauty Alberto, a testimony to your patience and skill! Give my kind regards to your family and Lucio also! Maybe we will see you again someday!

    Kind Regards,

    Steve Gill
