  • I HATE WHEN PEOPLE WRITE IN CAPS.

  • Her humility in it self is inspiring, you can be your self with her am sure

  • One word.

    Reincarnation

  • she sounds young, that's comforting actually

  • She's wonderful!

  • atleast god gave her brains and not looks eh?. everybody gets one. haha.

  • @ImDopeyCuhz Don't bring up a god(s) unless you can backup your claim with proof. Also, what makes you think she isn't beautiful on the outside?

  • Once she has a boyfriend, she will have to start from middle school all over again.

  • Tiny Tim's sister

  • obviously a virgin

  • 0:34 how is she in college she made absolutely no sense?

  • Wow this is inspiring, intimidating, but inspiring.

  • THe things she's teaching arent college degree...

  • Her name is Arabic. She is originally from Arab countries .. :)

  • where is she from?

  • She must be the loneliest person in the world imo

  • This is a complete lie !! The youngest professor was Harvey Friedman who in 1967 became an assistant professor of philosophy at Stanford University three weeks before his 19th birthday. Alia Sabur became a professor (not really a professor, but actually a Research Liaison) 3 days before her 19th birthday. In fact, Harvey Friedman was in the Guinness Book of Records for decades as having been the youngest professor, just search Google Books for the phrase "Harvey Friedman Guinness".

  • Why do they call any college teacher a "professor"?? It is nonsensical given the actual meaning of the post of "professor". A professor has the highest academic rank in a university and trumps all other lecturers and readers. So calling someone in their first job a professor is a joke unless they won a nobel prize or a fields medal before that.

  • this video is a lie. she did not get her doctorate when she was 16. She did her masters when she was 17 and completed her doctorate recently, i think when she was about19. The girl is amazing, the video is some cheap news scam. The only thing is that the guiness record is a dud. She is a "professor" meaning lecturer. Maclaurin was an actual professor (meaning someone who has been appointed above other lecturers because they can draw greater funding and have greater experience).

  • @shushanto You're wrong. She did not complete a doctorate. She left Drexel and is now in law school. And you're right, her so-called "professorship" was a stunt executed by Konkuk University to get some publicity. She left the school a year later without having her contracted renewed. Clearly she only did it to get the Guinness world record

  • @angela1894

I believe you, it sounds more realistic what you're saying. You mean she did not have her PhD granted. So what does she have to do get it? Would she have to start all over again with a different topic at Konkuk? And how could she possibly be a professor or even a lecturer without a PhD?

Where are you based Angela? I'm in London and I studied at London university, King's College.

  • @shushanto

Alia Sabur is not even at Konkuk anymore, she left after a year and is now in Law School at Georgetown University. Even on her website, she does not say she has a PhD, she called it 'ABD', which means 'All But Dissertation' meaning that she completed all the course requirements but either never wrote or never defended a dissertation so she didn't get her PhD. In an article in the Financial Times published on October 1 2010, she explains why she did not get her PhD.

  • @shushanto

As to how she became a lecturer at Konkuk without a PhD, grad students who are about to get a PhD begin applying for postdoc or faculty positions months before they actually get the PhD, with the expectation, of course, that they'll get it. And on her website she refers to her position at Konkuk as a "Research Liaison", not a lecturer or professor, she was very careful to avoid using those terms. But she did teach classes, which is common for even grad students and postdocs to do

  • she is so ugly though

  • She's a genius and she's teaching some of America's dumbest? Put her genius to use!

  • @return135 well thats what looks so dodgy. Maybe she doesn't have a specialty that she's particularly useful at. The thing is, when you get to that level, how old or young you are, you previous achievements etcetera are useless and actually have nothing to do with anything. You will not find that in general those who got their PhD's young (say 24 or less) did more or better work than those who got their PhD's later (say over 28)

  • I agree that she doesn't seem very mature, her intelligence does not seem to come across in this interview. Then again she was half my age when she got her Doctorate and I have only just received my Bachelors; so what do I know :)

  • @Karlmersh

"Alia Sabur's "parents brought suit on behalf of their daughter and alleged that defendants board of education, its members, and the school district failed to provide their daughter with appropriate educational services in violation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act" (excerpt from reference; case 203 F. Supp. 2d 292 US District Court For the Eastern District of New York, decided May 8, 2002)

mental disability? not sure but plausible from her behaviour?

  • @Karlmersh Why are you doing a Bachelors at 38?? What subject? She did not actually get her doctorate btw, it has not been awarded. I don't even know if she completed her work for it.

  • i think she's way ahead of us in terms of intellectuality, but in terms of maturity, she's exactly like a teenager!

  • I hate chicks like that. And "Why not me?" Well you're ulgy as hell!!

  • @Madsen989Y Lol. You mad bro? Haters gon' hate.

  • @Madsen989Y Are you serious?! Come on, listen to yourself, maybe you can work out why you're part of what's wrong with the world.. Also how can you say "chicks like that"?: the reason you've heard of her is because there is almost no one like her.. jeeeez

  • As long as she is happy.

  • If she is published that is what impresses me most

  • Im curious about her parents. uhm, what her mother did when she was pregnant . I wish I get child like her.

  • She is great ! But needs to fix her teeth !

  • Give humanity 70+ yrs and we'll give the world a 11 year old professor.

  • Her name is Himura

  • with her brains, she wants to teach? WTF.. why not research on cancer or something..

  • @madmax797 A lot of people are really only "book smart" they can't offer much else then knowing/learning known facts. Which is the case for most teachers. Ever wonder why English teachers that seem to grasp literature and the English language so well, aren't accomplished writers?

  • @madmax797 She does research.

  • "I am not an Iranian and have no Iranian roots. The nationality of my parents are my private business and have no need to be exposed,"

.... doesnt matter what you achieve or how smart you are Alia have some respect and pride

  • i hate when people write in caps

  • SO MANY PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS OF HER I SEE :) WELL I AM PROUD TO SEE SO MANY JEALOUS PEOPLE GOOD JOB GIRL :)

  • ANTI BONER

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a teen and understand everything on that white board it has to do with ohms law relating to series and parrellel circuits

For a girl who has a phd in nanophotonics to be teaching something that easy is just pathetic...

  • @TRONhack3r "It's not always about the answers we find, it's about what we do with them" If you understand those words my friend, you'll understand why you're watching a PHD holder teaching what you're implying to be simple math to people who aren't as gifted as she is :)

  • @TRONhack3r I was thinking the same thing.

  • @TRONhack3r WELL SHE IS A COLLEGE PROFFESSOR SO ITS NOT THAT SHE IS TEACHING SOMETHING EASY BUT THE POINT IS THIS IS WHAT COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE LAERNING AND A 19 YEARS OLD BEING A PROFESSOR IS NOT THAT EASY AND SHE IS THE YONGEST PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD SO I THINK SOME PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS :[

  • Imodema, while I agree with you that she didn't deserve a professorship, I disagree with you bashing her bachelors degree. Applied Math may not be as rigorous as Pure Math but she wanted to become an engineer, and Pure Math is really only for people who are interested in becoming Math professors, which she probably didn't want. Also, she graduated summa cum laude which is impressive for a 14 year old, and SUNY-Stony Brook is ranked #24 in the country in Mathematics.

  • Imodema, I agree with you 100%, you are right, her stint at Konkuk University in Korea was a publicity stunt orchestrated by the university. She was not qualified to be hired as a professor because she did not have a PhD.

  • What rleigion is she?

  • BONER

  • now terence tao is truly a talent at hand:

at the age of 8 years old, yes only 8 years old nearly perfected the SAT with a score of 760, and tested by johns hopkins unversity, as well as attending princeton university and a true professor at UCLA at the age of 20-21.

also with numerous awards and attending on fullbright scholorships and praise from the 10 universities in the USA and UK-oxford.

  • that web address below is from finanical times website, titled:

    First Person: Alia Sabur

    As told to Sarah Duguid

    Published: October 1 2010 22:17 | Last updated: October 1 2010 22:17

  • proof in her own words she and her parents that she does not have a ph.d.

    w3 (dot) financialtimes (dot) /cms/s/2/3349f4e0-cb74-11df-95c0-00144feab49a.html#axzz1YUMvGof9

  • her going to korea was a setup! a professor never a professor immediately after their phd. you are on probationary professor or assistant professor unti proven!

it seems their family set this korean jig for her so just she can be in a world record status and even possibly misleading the korean universiy.

it all sounds bizzarre. why NOT a professor in the USA where you graduated from?

Because she never had completed here ph.d program. They sued the university for monetary gains!

  • she is not a professor! she does not even have here ph.d.

LISTEN PARENTS. THERE IS ONE THING YOU WILL NEVER LEARN AND WISDOM DOES NOT COME THROUGH OSMOSIS regardless of what degree you have!

Greed and Fear are the foes and enemies of fame and money, respectively. And you acted on it. No true scholar would ever sue for their doctorate while trying to obtain economic gain! YOU AND YOUR PARENTS DO NOT BELONG IN THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY!

  • hell, these days anyone can get a ph.d. in the name of money any co-op or online college can give anyone a ph.d. heck, the social sciences are the easiest of the doctorate programs!

  • it puts the true ph.d scholars in disgrace of someone using such honor for the use of personal gain to gain from the academic community. look at they way she presents herself and how she talks. lets have the parents on the show and see what background they have!

  • what ivy league or major top 10 university would have her as a professor in mathematics? NON, maybe in some co-op college or university!

THIS IS A SHAME TO ALL TRUE SCHOLARS AND ACADEMICS!

this is what you call an academic ponzi scheme in applied or conceptual education in the name of fame and money from publicity or media! rotton americans! very similiar to miss 6 year old youngest beauty queen of USA!

  • CHECK IT OUT! they(her parents and/or) had to one sue for her degree, so it makes one wonder was she a team player or some goofy that just needed media attention to get money.

look at her post-secondary and graduate credentials!

SHE IS NOT THE YOUNGEST PROFESSOR! its a sham to defraud the academic community of A TRUE University based baccalaureate or doctorate education. no one should ever have to sue for doctorate degree per se!

  • she becomes a so called professor at some unknown professor in south korea for only a year! this sounds like a scheme for a scam to get publicity and money! no true scholar would leave a professor job!

go ahead show us which university in the USA would accept her as chair and professor of any "MAJOR" university and NOT college in their mathematics department or for that matter in the UK or in western europe!

CHECK IT OUT! they had to one sue for her degree, so it makes one wonder

  • is this a joke or what? or deceptive parents that are very cunning!

she is not a professor. she had to sue to maybe get phd from "CO-OP" UNIVESITY. WHATS NEXT? THE YOUNGEST FEMALE TO BECOME A PROFESSOR FROM SOME HOCUS POCUS ONLINE UNIVERSITY!

A DEGREE IN "applied mathematics"? its like saying i a majored in business conceptual math because the regular derative theoritical mathematics is too difficult".

ON her bio it never states what her SAT or ACT scores were!

    WHAT A JOKE!

  • A humanoid? Go, girl!

  • i hate it when i watch this kind a stuff then I feel bad about myself afterward

  • @EightyBrains all human are equal but know we know that that is bull...

  • @EightyBrains Same here, I hate people who are good loads of things. I'm not good at anything. It makes me anrgy to see people happy and successful.

  • @LEK2129 you must have a large twat - its called child prodigy

  • @dustymuthafucka I just don't buy it. 8 month old babies are crawling and learning to say mama etc. For example if someone asked a parent if their 8 month old could read they'd think that person was talking crazy!

  • @EightyBrains Same here, I hate it when people are good at loads of stuff, I'm not good at anything. It makes me angry when people are happy and successful.

  • @EightyBrains awwwww....cry me a river

  • She needs to Bred more.

The Human Species needs her Gene.

  • That absent mindedness can be fixed. World memory champions are just regular people who practice certain routines to develop their memories. 7 time world memory champion Dominic O'Brian has a book out that teaches all his techniques.

  • OH. MY. GOD. why can't i be her? D':

  • IM pressive!

She seems quite balance in appearance & in composure

Now we know why they used to marry them young; they are more capable than most would give them for. lol

  • I'm learning those physics and I'm in high school, not college? Quite impressive though.

  • talking and reading at 8 months old! that is insane

  • a undergraduate at Stony Brook university. Go SBU!!!

  • @edwinc10458 not top 25 so u suck

  • Comment removed

  • she's cool!

  • whooaaa looks like she's teaching physics!!

  • lol she likes celebrity gossip=means she's not perfect XD

  • @RantNRavinFection lol nobody is perfect!!! not even einstein was or you so i wouldn't be talking about others being perfect!!

  • I'm so proud of her!!! =)

  • proud to be persian

  • Comment removed

  • she looks like a lil kid

  • She is great. Knowledge is the real power!

Only the stupid people don´t know that

  • @AFGAryan1If knowledge can empower then it can also weaken - if it can wisen the it can also stupefy therefore to say that knowledge is power is not entirely true; anyone can memorise some facts however it is not just acquisition of knowledge or principles it is understanding those principles on a deep level and embodying them in a real life environment to effect positive change in the world - if that what floats your boat! If not one can always kick back and spark up a spliff! :-)

  • @AFGAryan1 No, money and Charisma are generally more powerful. Knowledge is just more admirable.

  • she traded her body for intelligence

  • LOOOOOL

if anyone has ever read Dune, then you know why this is funny

  • I had the option of graduating from my state university at 19 or going to a ivy league university and graduating at 22, i chose the latter option and thoroughly enjoyed my experience that I just could not have had at my state university.

  • I actually feel kind of bad for this girl, you really are only a kid once. I would have just waited to go to college till 18 and then actually went to a premier university, although Stony Brook is by no means a bad school. Fifteen years from now, this girl is not going to be able to get ivy league or top university teaching post, as her doctorate is from Drexel, and other people are going to have degrees from Harvard or Yale.

  • The world's youngest professor is a WOMAN and a MUSLIM.

SUCK ON THAT, YOU IGNORANT ASSHOLES!

  • Alia sabur is an Arabic name and I think she's muslim

  • @dom1abc1mbc She's actually Iranian..

  • @dom1abc1mbc she is iranian

  • too much attention. so cocky.

  • some pages before one person was talking about the high degree of intelligence of people with parents from different places of the world. there is a biological reason for that: the genes are much different, so the new organism can find more different types of genes to complete a new dna out of it - if you marry people with similar genes or more similar genes, the children resulting out of that cuple can maybe be less healthy than by parents with different genes. Thats why incest is bad.

  • what the fuck was she teaching? basic electronics in college?

lmao america fails hard. I'm pretty sure the rest of the world learns this shit in highschool.

  • She is 100% MUSLIM... Suck on that you jealous fags

  • this is nothing compared with THE GENIUS, aka William James Sidis.

Probably the most powerful mind ever existed.

  • Most people including the founders of Google and Yahoo found it difficult to write that dissertation.....they must have made it very easy for her just to set the record.

They should have insisted on her picking up tougher things like second, third and forth languages before they accept her at a better university like Georgia-Tech, Harvard or MIT where she would be challenged mentally or delayed slightly so that she could still have child-hood life..

Who would want to register for her courses?

  • She is a Black-Belt-grade in Taekwondo....must have bribed the examiners or sparred against super-easy opponents....doesn't even have the figure of a fellow who could pass a basic military fitness test. They must have made it very easy for her to get her degrees (though the summa was kind of impressive)... my understanding is at research universities, candidates have to publish quite a few papers before they are allowed to start their dissertations.

  • 4th grade to college? how the fuck does someone recommend that to her parents?

  • THATS GREAT!

  • Helping people physically is good but not great as much as showing the ways to gain wisdom and the understanding of truth in our self.

  • so goddam hawt

  • Don't you motherfuckers get that 300 years ago if this girl existed, she would have never been allowed to speak because she is a girl? A girl with middle eastern heritage?? I don't think you understand what a mark this is for science on this planet- women now have a say :)

  • Wow, she is a bit arrogant

  • i think she is missing out on drinking and fucking! but this is very impressive nonetheless!

  • When Gauss was her age, he solved a problem that baffled Euclid. Gauss is the greatest genius who ever lived.

  • If it was a Black teen we will here insults and hatred towards her.

  • They said she had a doctorate at 16 ? That's a lie, she does NOT have a doctorate.

  • There are currently between 70-80 Iranians working for NASA, making up approximately 43% of NASA's researchers.

  • Bravo Alia, you are a credit to humanity and the Iranian culture. God bless you and good luck with everything you have planned (or planned for you) in the future.

  • Wow, that's even younger than when Erik Demaine started teaching. :O

  • @felenoral Erik Demaine is obviously smarter. So is Charles Fefferman, who started college at 12 and went on to win the Fields Medal, the mathematics equivalent of the nobel prize

  • Viva iranian.

She is not A human , i think so

  • annabella18,

No she is your cousin as well? Jealous!

  • LOOOL..

where the hell did u get that??

    LIES!

  • WOW!!! I am totally impressed with Alia Sabur's accomplishments.

Keep up the good work. You are one heck of a smart person. Truly amazing.

  • stephen wolfram and terence tao should be the ones getting interviewed

  • we are proud of you , she is iranian (persian) american girl.

  • dumb and jealous angela

  • thats funny because he isn't recognized as the youngest professor and this girl is.

  • well she was 18 when she became a professor, and 18 is younger than 19, so there goes your theory. and who cares where she teaches, you should look at her accomplishments. she IS a big deal

  • Quote from her website: Alia wanted to help the relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, so when she learned that Southern University at New Orleans, a historically Black public college, was the only college still operating out of trailers, she accepted a temporary position there as her way of giving back.

  • PIZZA HUT!!!!!!!!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i suppose she has a very low level on each subject so that she could finish a Ph, and it is CLEAR that their parents forced her to that.

  • lol. i study physics and math, and i can't believe this history!!! fake!

  • Wow, she's teaching at some craphole school in New Orleans. What an accomplishment!

  • 666xz, the only reason she decided to go to that craphole school in new orleans is that she wanted to become the youngest professor ever. All the good schools clearly didn't find her qualified enough, but this craphole school did, so she went to it, just so that she could be the youngest professor.

  • @angela1894 You go for it if it's easy! Jealous.

  • v=ir that very simple

  • More proof of the unusually high intelligence of people who are half-white and half-arab: I just found out Steve Jobs is half-white and half-arab. For those who don't know, Steve Jobs was one of the inventors of Apple Computers. It's safe to say he's very smart. Yet another example of the unusually high intelligence of people who are half-white and half-arab..

  • Are you Arab?!

  • She's not Arab.

  • No, they're not the same.

  • LOL, genetically similar my ass. What's the level of J2 in Iran? Why don't you go look it up, idiot. Just becaues Iran is in the Middle East, does not mean it is an Arab nation. Similiar culture? Don't make me laugh you redneck.

An American is talking about blowing things up...how ironic.

  • @99999999988888888 americans and iranians are both pretty accomplished at "blowing things up"!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @angela1894 HOW ignorant.

  • @mozart20dlubos Steve Jobs is white, there are tons of Syrians who you could not tell apart from a European. And Arab is a culture not a race, so being Arab does not automatically equal being "not white". There are Black arabs for example, so why should there be no white arabs ? And look at Syria's president btw, he has blue eyes and white skin.

  • she's persian suckaaaaaaz

  • She's a genius!? I'm a genius to, shoot I was so smart in school that every level grade from elementary to middle, I almost repeated twice.

  • yeah but i've been laid

  • She's only more proof of the unusually high intelligence of people who are half-white and half-arab. Another example is Michael Atiyah, one of the 20th century's most influential mathematicians. Also, I just found out that Shakira is half white and half arab and has a very high IQ. This can't be a coincidence. There must be something about combining white and arab genes that results in high intelligence. Maybe that's why ashkenazi jews are so smart, they have both israeli and european ancestry.

  • she´s iranian

  • egypt is the best

  • right on sister!!!!

  • graduated college at 10?!

some people who commented below me are seriously deep, but do have a great point

  • Impressive

  • Is she an Alien, infiltrating the human world?

  • So it's a 300 year-old record. That doesn't mean she's the smartest person born in 300 years, it primarily means that colleges are more accepting of younger people today.
