Goodness, had to delate the previous (can't stand typos!)... another try: This recording was my very first encounter with "Ah, leve-toi soleil"... and it is still a favorite. Thank you, Edmund!
@SuperLuckydream Thank you, my friend. Yes, one could take the recordings of Smirnov, Sobinov and Lemeshev, and pretty much write the history of tenor singing in Russia and the Soviet Union!
@EdmundStAustell And one could take the recordings from your brilliant collection, dear friend, and pretty much write the history of singing in Russia and the Soviet Union :-)
@stevevandien I'm sorry to say I can't find a date. The recording from which I took it didn't give dates on the performances, and my usual discographies failed me on this one. I'm still looking. I've written to a friend in Russia. If I can find it, I will certainly let you know. Also, if anybody out there has it, I would, needless to say, be grateful if you could let me know.
Merci Edmund
Belle découverte pour moi . Ténor vocalement brillant et expressif.
Très bon enregistrement pour 1909.
Merci pour le partage

@opera1232010 Merci, mon ami. Oui, vous avez raison. Il chante très bien, et il est vrai que l'enregistrement est en très bon état pour son âge.
