So I got 1 male and 1 female mice at first. The female got pregnant and my mom has been nagging ever since. So I brought the male one to the pet shop. And also the male was a bit hard to tame and keep escaping from the cage. Now the female had been frantically searching for the male mice since she went parts of my house where the male one always ran to. What should I do now? I'm thinking of getting a new female one so that they won't breed, but I'm scared the new one will hurt the babies.

@yazidLIPAN The mother should alway be alone (separated from others) while the babies are young. It's the same thing with rats. The mother will try to protect the babies, and can harm the others. I would wait for the babies to get older, THEN add a new member to the family :)

@DiscoPuppies They only smell if the environment their held in is poorly cared for. However, some male mice posses an odor (as it's natural so they're able to mark their territory), but it isn't too bad.

That's one of the strategy of conditioning which is the food. He knows where to go because there is a food waiting for him. in fact he can smell it and they are very sensitive creatures.
