I took a school party to London some years ago to see The Mousetrap, when we arrived at Victoria there was a man asking for money for food. Some of my group gave him their evening meals. Seconds later we were bombarded with sandwiches "I don't want any f..king cheese sandwiches! I want money! Sadly that put me and the kids off giving to the real people on the Streets of London! I have slept rough myself to see what it is like... it is no joke!

My Dad told me, when he was in his late teens (about 30 years ago now), he was in his nans living room playing 'Streets Of London' on the piano, and then all of a sudden Ralph Mctell walks in!

Turns out, he is my dads first cousin once removed, or something like that.

We use to sing this in my middle school allot, i use to tell everyone the story, but no one believed me :( lol

tearfull not just me whenging irish talk i feel for any homeless human but it rips me apart to see the paddys around camden town that worked so hard in their hay days ,sleep in a door way rather go home coz the real people that matter to them would know how bad they had sliped i love them all more for that and im sure it kills englishmen to c another englishman in this situation too

@richtawee2007 It's a pitty today, showing kindness is looked on as weakness. I get sick of the younger generation treating me like a leper if I try to give advice, or show civility.  ie . open doors, treat women with respect. It seems like I'm living in a different world.

One day, this thought came to my mind. At first I like to go along with it. Then I told myself, "I am about to be liked the old people of our time".
