@cburns1689 yeah, the dude's the only guy I've seen manhandle Dwight Freeney of the colts. You can block the dude, but manhandle? Forget about it. He's a true blocker, by which I mean he blocks correctly instead of the majority of O-Line players in the NFL who hold on nearly every single play. Thats why he's a future HOF. Oh, and being selected by madden himself on the team of the decade 2000's, amongst other notable titles.
@Gungho73 ya i always knew he was one of the greats but man ya he rocked some great d-lineman. Im a seahawks fan and have been watching them since 1994 when i started playing pee wee football haha. and ive always put him up with Steve Largent. the dude is a monster. One battle i would love to see is Walter Jones and Cortez Kennedy epic
I absolutely hate how running backs get all kinds of credit for being amazing when they run through gaping holes untouched. Walter's block here was fucking amazing, and the very damn reason Shaun had anywhere to run period. That was some freakish athleticism to be that big of a man, and be able to drive a guy that fast. Amazing...
The awesome thing on the play is that both Walter and Alexander are doing work where everyone else just kinda looked lost on the play. Shaun Breaks two tackles and Walter just rolls over Rucker. Best Example of how these two worked together for the best running game in 2005.
Woah, look how fast he was moving, he was hauling 270 pounds of man and was keeping up with shaun alexander, i dont care if he was juking that is just insane.
@dxarmy94 We only get fifteen seconds of it. Maybe they talked about the block after the play. They probably looked at the replay and said something along the lines of, "Watch Number 71, Walter Jones. He fires out, does a great job of getting position on Mike Rucker, and from then on it's Walter Jones' strength against Mike Rucker's and you can see the result; a big hole for Shaun Alexander."
Another thing I like about this is that, after the play, Jones just walks off. He doesn't brag, or stand over Rucker and taunt him, or point out what a great block he made. He doesn't even try to high-five a teammate. What a terrific guy. If ever a lineman had a right to be a complete jerk because of his ability, it was Walter Jones. And that is not what he did.
Just goes to show that highlights are not always made by skill-position players. Granted, spectacular blocks are less common than spectacular catches, rushes and throws, but they do happen. Which is why there should always be a few cameras on the big sweaty guys up front.
He did it in the best day in Seahawks history.

This is a short clip. I'm sure on the replay, the announcers gave Walter his just due for an awesome block.

Reach blocks is one of the hardest blocks to do in football. This guy does it with ease.

It's at the point where I don't even watch Shaun on these great runs (sad thing too) I just watch the blocking.
