Okay, people complaining about the out of tune lead melody, he uses to same technique on the studio version, just to a lesser extent. THIS IS A LIVE SHOW. One of the beautiful things about live performances is that they aren't just carbon copy and paste versions of what you've already heard. My guess is the set list got fucked up. Cause the lead singer was playing something totally different in the beginning and then backs off around 0:38. That's why his guitar is tuned different. I'm pretty sure at the time modest mouse wasn't that comfortable with themselves yet to screw around with their number one hit. Just throwing that out there.

If they're not comfortable by that time something is wrong. and i think it's tuned fine, it's just the settings on the amp were different. you could tell if it was tuned wrong..
